CAMBRIDGE, Md. — Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. bemoaned the state of the Republican Party on Friday morning as he delivered a pep talk for House Democrats struggling to maintain optimism heading into the midterm elections.

“There isn’t a Republican Party,” Biden said. “I wish there were. I wish there was a Republican Party you could sit across the table from, make a deal, make a compromise and know when you got up from the table it could be done.”

While Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel shared “cold, hard realism” with his colleagues on Thursday regarding the prospects of taking back the House, Biden sought to keep their spirits up and said he was optimistic about the party’s prospects.

“Between now and November is three political lifetimes,” Biden told House Democrats gathered for the annual retreat at the Hyatt Regency on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. “A lot is going to happen and a lot can change.”

Biden said the issues favor Democrats.

“For the first time in my career … on every major issue, the American people agree with the Democratic Party,” said Biden, rattling off areas where polling shows that agreement, such as: reproductive issues, early childhood education, an immigration overhaul, background checks for gun users and unemployment insurance.

“I can’t think of a time when the issues that most affect the American people, most affect the middle class, overwhelmingly, overwhelmingly support us,” he said, praising DCCC recruitment of solid congressional candidates. The vice president offered to campaign where necessary and stressed that the game isn’t over yet.

Biden, who has said he might run for president in 2016, has previously boasted he is in demand on the campaign trail.

Your on the wrong side Biden. Get out and retire while you can.

  • DILKe

It saddens me that people actually agree with this lunatic…

  • Itsagift

Poor Joe must have bumped his head again.

    • Layla

This is a man who has stayed too long at the dance.

  • aliswell

Well, he’s half right; there ISN’T a genuine Republican Party anymore. Because if there was, Barry, Biden, Holder, Pelosi and the rest of the Commie scum on Capitol Hill would be behind bars, waiting for the death sentence for treason to be carried out.

  • Schrodingers Cat

Biden is the dumbest man ever elected in American politics.

  • rgbact

I don’t know if he’s senile or just thinks people are that easily suckered. Notice ACA didn’t make his list though. Minor issue.

  • raynebc

That’s funny, all of the recent polls ( http://www.pollingreport.com/prioriti.htm ) indicate economic issues are the citizens’ priority, many times more so than immigration issues. And even people that argue the Republicans are big spenders can’t refute that Obama’s administration has been worse about spending.

  • SWohio

Does the VP have an annual physical like the POTUS? If so, that would be a good time to give old Joe a complete psychiatric workup.

  • Layla

He’s actually right about this one. We have a dictator in the White House and NOBODY is doing anything to stop the illegal orders he issues daily. Pretty sad, America. If you’re not going to do anything but spend, spend, spend, why not eliminate Congress altogether? Just think of the money we’d save!

    • FredBeloit

I agree with you and Biden, Layla. There are two parties in the U.S. today, the Marxist Party and the Conservative Party. Needless to say, most politicians don’t belong to either; all they care about is reelection.

In this article we find communistic liberal democrat Peter Orszag openly waging ideological warfare against our sacred Constitution: http://www.newrepublic.com/node/94940

The Republican Party has been reduced to a loose conglomeration of factions with disparate ideological and political goals, including self-serving fiscal conservatives, the homophobic extremists of the Religious Right, the racist birther contingent, and the xenophobic, secession-happy Tea Party flakes.

    • StillWatching2

Sorry but that whole loony birther thing was a product of candidate Hillary in 2008 seeking to Dethrone Berack ! Hard to credit her “RIght-Wing CONSPIRACY!” as the originator of HER ideas!

  • StillWatching2

All parties are divided a little – the Repubs between RINOS and conservatives, and Demos between voters who think they are still the party of JFK, vs the ones who HAD HIM KILLED! Where was Joe again?

I love the way Democrats spend more time pointing the finger and making accusations against their opponents and at the end of the day they are really talking about themselves. The American people are moving away from Democrats with every new law, tax and fee Obama tacks on to the American people’s personal budgets and day to day life. It is the Democrats who are currently saying it is their way or no way in the Senate and Congress. Current Democrat candidates are trying to stay away from Obama in fear that his affiliation with them will cause them to lose votes. Democrat candidates who took the stereotypical side of the Democratic party on different issues are now switching their views on the issues in order to gain votes. That activity tells me the Democrats are the ones spiraling down the drain, not the Republicans or even Libertarians for that matter. (FYI-Libertarians are not Liberals)

Someday Biden’s gravesite will become a national urinal.

The Vice President is correct, although his statement is short on explaining just exactly what he meant and how out of step the GOP is with reality. Of course it is the modus operando of the GOP to be intentionally out of step. If they were legitimately in support of the American people they would be in opposition to their corporate puppet masters.
Telling lies and twisting the truth concerning the issues that most affect the American people creates the backlash necessary to misinform the “befuddled” American voters. It perpetuates the non-intellectual, anti modernism, anti-secular, un and misinformed base that is necessary to keep them in office.
It is unlikely that this base will ever be able to absorb the truth should it ever be offered to them. The corporations that control the majority of the media and the entertainment industry have designed both to be both addictive and destructive in the development of our children and the ability to think clearly in the GOP’s adult base. This group is bred to be unable to think and as a result have become the slaves and consumers of the mega-corporations and their Republican minions. It is difficult for me to say this but t has to be said; it is unlikely that the people that are being hurt most by he Republican party will suddenly wake from this intentionally induced coma that has them voting against their own best interests. I am afraid they are lost and as a result the GOP will remain a powerful enemy of a healthy future for America.
