Boehner: ‘We’ll See’ If Export-Import Bank Authorized Before Deadline (Video)

Speaker John A. Boehner again declined to commit to a reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank at his weekly news conference Wednesday, telling reporters “we’ll see” when asked if the House would “sort through” the issue prior to the Sept. 30 deadline to reauthorize the Bank’s lending authority.

“There’s a big debate going on in our conference, and we’re just going to have to sort our way through this. My job is to help facilitate the sorting through of this so that we can get to an outcome.”

However, when pressed on whether he supports a reauthorization Boehner pushed back.

“I’m not going to answer the question,” the Ohio Republican said. “You tried to do this on immigration for the last two years. As the guy who’s the facilitator of trying to get to a discussion to get to an outcome, I think laying my cards on the table tilts the balance. I don’t frankly think — I don’t want to do that. I want to get our members to a place where they’re comfortable, whatever that is.”

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said yesterday he is planning a vote to re-authorize the Bank, while Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling has said since May he wants the Bank’s lending authorization to expire at the end of the fiscal year.

Senator Boehner, is a man lacking credibility, compassion, and common decency. He should have been fired a long time ago. He is a bully, and unworthy of public office. Him and the republican party will be affected in the coming election because of their decision not to pass the unemployment extension bill in the senate.Has the government forgotten about the three million unemployed workers, and their families, STILL WITHOUT an extension of unemployment benefits since last December? While Billions of tax payers dollars are sent to the Ukraine in an aid package, more and more of these unemployed continue to sink into financial ruin. How can our government send our sons & daughters off to war, but not help their unemployed loved ones back at home? The republican senate has failed these millions of voters, and their families. These Americans have lost all trust and hope and respect for the government because of this lack of compassion, and common decency
