Evangelicals Target House Republicans on Immigration Overhaul (Video)

Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, reiterated Tuesday morning that he’d still like to see the House pass an immigration overhaul by the end of the year; on Tuesday afternoon, over 250 faith leaders set out to make sure that was indeed the case.

The group of evangelical pastors descended on Capitol Hill throughout the day to meet with more than 100 rank-and-file House lawmakers, most of them Republican, to make the case for acting on a rewrite of the nation’s immigration code before the clock runs out on the 113th Congress.

Brought together by the Evangelical Immigration Table, which describes itself as “a broad coalition of evangelical organizations and leaders advocating for immigration reform consistent with biblical values,” the pastors hope to deliver a message that appeals to members of Congress on the far-right end of the political spectrum who might be inclined not to support any legislation that smacks of “amnesty.”

“I’m here today because in 2011, the Southern Baptist Convention overwhelmingly approved a resolution on immigration reform. The leadership of the convention was concerned that so many conservative Christians were having their views shaped by talk radio and other news outlets, and we wanted them to come to a position shaped by Biblical teaching,” said Bryan Wright, senior pastor at the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga., and president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2010 to 2012, in a statement. “Now it’s time to bring these Biblical teachings to our leaders in Washington, D.C., and ask for immigration reform this year.”

Participants kept a tally of some of their congressional office visits under the Twitter hashtag #Pray4Reform. A cursory run-through of those tweets show that pastors enjoyed audiences with representatives from the offices of Reps. Rob Woodall, R-Ga; Austin Scott, R-Ga.; Joe Wilson, R-S.C.; Dave Reichert, R-Wash.; and Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif. They also report meeting with Boehner aides.

According to an ongoing Roll Call survey of where members stand on GOP leadership’s principles for an immigration rewrite, Boehner was the only one of these visited lawmakers who stands fully behind moving forward on immigration; Reichert was the only one of these visited lawmakers who has signaled a willingness to entertain the matter. Woodall declined to comment, and Scott and Wilson never responded to Roll Call’s requests for comment on their positions.

Rohrabacher has put himself in the firm “no” category on the issue, and he said that while he enjoyed meeting face-to-face on Tuesday afternoon with the immigration advocates who happened to hail from his district, his mind was ultimately unchanged.

“My response to them was, No. 1, a policy of legalizing the people who are here, the sort of easy way out, would in the long run put 40 million new people into our country, which would change the nature of our country, and that would be a bad thing, not to mention breaking the bank, etc.,” Rohrabacher said.

“Also, my response was that Christian love is not furthered by advocacy of government policy but instead by individual action and commitment,” he continued. “Individual commitment is not individual commitment to changing a government policy, it is to come out and help specific people and people who are in need, and if [the pastors] really wanted to help people who are here illegally or in bad situations they, they want to pay for their health insurance and everything, then I would be saying how wonderful that is. But if they are advocating that the government do that, then it will break our bank and destroy our country.”

Why is anyone listening to a bunch of wingnut Evangelical pastors? In a sane world, they would be laughed out of the room immediately.

    • TheLeftHasAlwaysBeenViolent

These are leftists, the kind of demonic churches that support Obama, and marry g a y s, etc.

      • DC

And can you name one southern baptist church that supports Obama and supports g a y s??

Have you actually looked at the list of the leaders that have signed on?

        • Mi

Just look up World Vision and homosexual marriage. World Vision is one of the “evangelicals” they are referring to. Yes I did look them up. I also was smart enough to find the link between Soros and this group of Leftists.

        • RedGA

Don’t dare ask them to look at facts. Ignorance is bliss for them.

You are right. I’ve realized this now.

Did you ever hear about the Evangelical paster “Eugene Ewing”
He was one of biggest scam artist and tax cheat. He preyed
on black Southern people trying to sell his “World Compassion
Magazines”. There are white and black pastors that are
        corrupt.

Mr. Rochrabacher is the only one in the article who makes sense. The rest is pure jibberish.

Another liberal group portrayed by the media as “mainstream.” Fire Boehner and Cantor and lets get some conservative leadership running this country.

    • RedGA

What liberal group do you refer to?

      • Mi

        The so-called “evangelicals” of course.

My sister-in-law is. She is as conservative as I am. She loved Reagan. But she has voted democrat all her life and she refuses to change. Whenever politics comes up in a conversation she just says, “You know more about this stuff than I do,” and she changes the conversation. Epitome of the “low information voter.” She sends us VERY conservative emails all the time. But votes democrat. I can’t figure it out.

          • juliams

            yeah sure she votes democrat

          • NorthlanderLJ

She would cut off her arm before she’d even consider voting for a Republican. Trust me. Her husband is big time democrat too. They just vote democrat straight down the ballot. I can’t figure it out.

    • Karen Walker

These “evangelical pastors” would be much better served if they visited Mexico and preached to them about making their country worthy and better for their people rather than preaching to Republicans who want to make America better for Americans.

No doubt ‘pastors’ of the same ilk as Sharpton, Jackson and Wright !

Amnesty + 30 days and Dems sweep the 2014 elections! 468 Congressional Seats!
1972- In Dunn v. Blumstein, the Supreme Court declares that lengthy residence requirements for
voting in state and local elections is unconstitutional and suggests that 30 days is an ample period. Obummer’s ace in the hole! This is the true purpose of Obummerare! Flood America with open boarders, declare Amnesty, 100 million illegals go to the polls with food stamps and health care in their pockets and vote Democratzi!

          • 13thGenPatriot

There are plenty of Southern Baptists that are NOT embracing amnesty for migrant criminals. The leadership might be doing that, but the folks in the pews are not.

          • IrateTexan

It’s the folks in the pews who are giving the leadership the pulpit for supporting breaking our immigration laws and importing millions MORE into our already floundering country – floundering because the illegals have already bankrupted most of our systems. Folks, STOP giving your money to the wolves in sheep’s clothing and find someone who genuinely NEEDS your help and help them directly. STOP empowering these so-called pastors by giving them hundreds of millions of tithing dollars.

          • levotb

What REALLY needs to happen, Irate, is for Republican voters TO STOP VOTING FOR THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS!! That’s the ONLY way to get rid of the RINOs who are strangling the GOP!!

          • NorthlanderLJ

Been there done that. I voted for the communist after my own republican governor screwed me. (I knew he wouldn’t win but it sure felt good to NOT vote for the SOB.)

          • NorthlanderLJ

BINGO! I figured that out years ago. No tax deduction. No problem. Much more comforting to know you REALLY helped someone.

          • levotb

Then these folks need to get out IN FORCE and tell their RINO pastors rewarding lawbreakers with aid is against Federal law and is unacceptable!

          • NorthlanderLJ

Sure they’re RINO’s. Wrong. They’re not even close. LOL.

Yes, I wonder why these “evangelicals” are so supportive of HUMAN TRAFFICKING. Amazing that they are FOR the foreign criminal enterprise that has exploited over 11Million people and transported them across our nation…FOR PROFIT. its always about the access to inexpensive upstairs maids and even cheaper lawn workers

Do not be fooled by these wolves

          • Panicazi

There is more going on here than cheap labor. At over $12K USD per person illegally HUMAN TRAFFICKED into the US, the HUMAN TRAFFICKING that the US Chamber of Commerce wants to legalize via Amnesty, is worth Billions of Dollars per year. And, that is just in PROFIT from the HUMAN TRAFFICKING. US employers are paying big bucks to these same HUMAN TRAFFICKERS to provide labor, US illegal drug trade is forking over big bucks for logistical support that HUMAN TRAFFICKING provides, and the US sex trade is paying big bucks to the HUMAN TRAFFICKERS. The rabid pursuit of Amnesty makes me wonder what all of these different pro-Amnesty groups stand to gain? Immigration overhaul is no different than Obamacare, they are both just a continuation of the colossal, Ocean’s 11 style “bank job” that is the Obama Administration. Hollywood would never produce a story like this because it just goes too far to be believable.

          • NorthlanderLJ

          • dex

why does he have hell then,,, if he loves us “all” ?

          • Rainier

God gave us free will. Hell is for those who choose to love and serve themselves more than their Creator.

On hell, did you know that hell can manifest right here on earth, in the physical realm? Yes, with enough wrong choices, indeed it can, for those in a hurry to damnation.

          • dex

so we dont have free will then do we.?

          • Rainier

Insomuch as the earth is trapped by gravity around the sun, as much as the Milky Way is both held together by unseen forces and flying through the cosmos at great speed, as much as all of Nature constitutes this physician Universe we inhabit, in that same amount, we do have Free Will.

You may to use it to nurture and cherish Natural Laws in which case you will find ultimate freedom and happiness. You may also use it to go against ALL Natural Laws and Universal Truth, in which case you will pay the ultimate price, the cost of your freedom and happiness.

Perspective is everything to humankind but it means very little to the Universe.

“…pastors enjoyed audiences with representatives from the offices of Reps. Rob Woodall, R-Ga; Austin Scott, R-Ga…”

I bet with a very lucrative I. R. S. cash flow of 23,994 tax refunds worth a combined $46,378,040 to “unauthorized” alien workers who all used the same address in Atlanta, Georgia.

One address in Ga. with 11 million illegal immigrants and any one wonder why we are broke yet.

          • NorthlanderLJ

Sounds about right. 23,994 illegals in one house. I think those “evangelicals” should agree to sponsor all of them. Then they can become citizens with no problem. As long as I’m not forced to educate them, medicate them, house them, feed them, etc, etc. If they’ll pay for them, fine. Just don’t ask me to pay for them and all of their thousands of relatives who will be allowed to come in here as soon as they are citizens.

        • hiltonsgnlvr

more phoney groups of radicals that the left hold up as “mainstream”. BS Enforce border security. That’s it. That’s the only “reform” necessary.

Eisenhower did it. So did presidents before him. Now we have 10 times more — plus all their relatives for me to support.

      • Elmo Fudginputz

Even better, let them make offerings to help people there (only 8% of Christians Biblically tithe and an even smaller percentage go beyond that in offerings). There’s nothing in the Bible that speaks of permitting illegal aliens to invade and takeover your country. Unfortunately, that’s already happened.

We voted to revoke the business licenses of anyone caught hiring illegals a second time. I would call that punishing them for violating the law.

        • NorthlanderLJ

Right. I think the Republicans they visited should just ask them if they are willing to be responsible for every illegal and all their hundreds of relatives who will be automatically granted amnesty in our country when we make them citizens. I suspect they will run like scalded dogs. I sure don’t want to pay for all of them.

      • NorthlanderLJ

Exactly. Why don’t they step up and sponsor them if they care so much about them and their 250 relatives who will roll in here for me to support as soon as they make them citizens? I sure don’t want to pay for them and all their relatives. I’m taxed out.

You and all your ilk are real Christians. Give me a break…if these people aren’t criminals and are here to work and provide for their family then I believe that we should do something to make them legal. You “so called” Christians are a sad group. I wonder how many of you have ancestors that came here legally.

Sadly you people don’t have a clue about immigration. You would run Ronald Reagan right out of office because he was big on allowing illegals to stay here.

I find it hard to believe that you think Evangelical Pastors are a liberal group, what a friggin’ laugh. I bet over 90% are Republicans.

I just hope that the Republican House decides to work on immigration and do what’s right. And that’s not sending the people back. And by the way they aren’t all from Mexico as Karen Walker implicates.

      • Lt_Scrounge

Criminal – someone who has broken the law.
Entering a country in violation of the law is a crime punishable by both fine and imprisonment. Hence they ARE criminals.

They are doing jobs that welfare recipients SHOULD be doing. They are also taking jobs that US citizens could be doing. Construction workers in Arizona haven’t had a meaningful pay increase in over 25 years because so many illegal ALIENS are filling the jobs that Americans used to have only at a below market pay scale. A study by ASU found that illegal aliens cost the state BILLIONS of dollars a year in educational costs, lost wages, depressed wages and social welfare expenses. Phoenix memorial hospital closed its ER multiple times over the 7 year time span that I lived down the street from it because of the money it was losing because illegals were using the ER instead of a regular doctor and not paying their bills. The Mexican government openly encourages this since the illegals can’t be denied service at an ER. Eventually Phoenix Memorial turned it into an urgent care center where those who couldn’t pay could be turned away.

        • HowsItWorkingOutForYa

There you go again Lt, bringing up facts when arguing with a liberal. Don’t you know by now? You are supposed to just do what feels right (at the moment), never mind the consequences.

When and where I grew up we used dynamite to remove stumps from the back yard. Whenever I’m feeling nostalgic, I start pumping liberals full of facts so I can watch their heads explode. It’s not as much fun as a real explosion but doesn’t cost as much or require a permit (yet). LOL

But ancestors from Europe were in North America first; about 26,000 to 19,000 years ago. They arrived thousands of years before the migrants that crossed the Bering Land Bridge; around 15,000 years ago.

And why do you fault these latter people for being wise enough to do what your people didn’t do, i.e., establish an immigration system?

The Evangelical Immigration Table group is a George Soros launched group. Many of the people now involved with this “movement” aren’t even informed enough to know this. It’s very disappointing that they are so easily fooled. Furthermore, they are promoting the rewarding of people who have been engaged in pattern of law-breaking. This should bother anyone who claims to have Christian values.

It does. And I too am amazed at how easy it is to fool a nation and the world. Look at the global cooling/global warming/climate change propaganda. It is very easy for these dirtbags. People are gullible.

.. and yet, our EXISTING immigration and border laws do just that. And yet, Baraka Hussein, the entire DimocRAT Party, and the RINOs refuse to enforce the existing laws. We DON’T NEED “immigration reform!” We need for our government to ENFORCE existing laws. Everything else is just shamnesty! Apparently, these “evangelicals” (Leftists is more apropos) forgot that Romans 13 clearly mandates that every man should follow the laws of the land. To reward law breakers is against the commandments of God.

      • RedGA

You may need to practice what you preach there brother. Reread Romans 13. Judging by your comments you never even live by what you tell others to live by. Respect for authority and those in power. Not seeing you do that. Judge not lest you be judged. Because the manner you judge others? You will be held to the same standard. Hope you never run one mile over the speed limit or say anything bad about anyone in authority. You are what you despise.

        • tibet

During the time of Paul’s ministry, a law was passed banning Jews from Rome. When Paul finally went to Rome, it was as a prisoner, not a traveling evangelist. And though he was a Jew, he was also a Roman citizen, but was still banned. If God wants you to go somewhere, he’ll make the way.

    • RedGA

All of these pastors are voting Republicans. Must be a bunch of lying pastors. Sounds like Biblical values to me. I guess God must be a card carrying Democrat…

      • Mi

        You are a liar.

        • RedGA

Bryant Wright? Russell Moore? Richard Land? Bill Hybels? You are an idiot.

        • AceTrace

…a “red” liar, but I repeat myself.

  • DC

Congratulations to the Southern Baptist leaders for taking a stand on this issue. As a member of a southern baptist church, I am glad that evangelical leaders are finally standing up on the biblically correct position on this issue. It has been long coming and the unmerciful behavior of too many of our congressional representatives from the south need to change.

    • suedixon

i am southern baptist too and can tell i don’t know any in the sbc that supports the immigration bill that does not secure border first and lets illegal immigrants – those who broke the law – become citizens.

      • KornKing

The first and foremost responsibility of a government is to protect it’s citizens. Not to mention, how many true evangelicals would actually look forward to changes in their country that would make possible things like “Governor Wendy Davis”.

        • Vesuvius1313

If that is so then they aren’t true Christians as they would be supporting abortion.

    • Vesuvius1313

I have read the Bible many times and don’t see where it says we should excuse people that “peacefully invade” our country when we already let 1.1 million immigrants each year legally. It isn’t a Biblically correct position and will radically change our political system letting progressives ignore our Constitution and putting in more laws that restrict us.

      • IAMreigns

Every human being is made in the Image and likeness of God. How you treat another human being is the way you treat God. I don’t support any church but I believe and trust in the God of Israel Who the christians claim to follow.

Jesus came to set the captives free…that was his mission. If people are treated differently and no justice is meted out to them, the whole nation suffers, as the people oppressing the people curse themselves…

  • John Lee Pettimore

Just another George Soros group making use of RINOs and useful idiots.

    http://www.christianciv.com/responsetoimmigration.htm

  • valinva

Do you mean the Biblical teaching that we are to obey the law and those in authority? How can you reconcile sneaking into the US and working illegally with the Bible. If evangelicals want to sponsor immigrants who are willing to apply in their home country and take responsibility for their support that’s fine. There is no excuse for supporting those that are here illegally.

    • RedGA

Strange no mention of punishing the so called patriotic Americans who, because of hiring them, are breaking the law and cheating the rest of us out of everything. It is very peculiar that the ones actually hiring are never mentioned as lawbreakers. Strange enough that most of this happens in red states by good old red state conservatives.

So you are saying we should not help anyone who breaks the law? I really hope you have never run one mile over the speed limit or broken any law yourself. Because if we go by your standard, most good old Americans need to just crawl under a rock and hide in their shame as well.

      • Mi

United States Citizen versus an invasive species. Apples and oranges m0r0n.

      • valinva

Yes, by all means throw those who hire the illegals in jail and fine them heavily. And please don;t tell me you are really equating sneaking into the US and using taxpayer funded resources illegally with driving 1 mile over the speed limit. You cannot have that low a level of common sense.

        • AceTrace

Good comment. He actually made some interesting points in the first paragraph, except that most real Conservatives do want to see employers punished who break the law and knowingly hire illegals. In fact, this would go a long way in fixing this problem.

However, that second paragraph was pure excrement. And, since he is a Leftist, he just might “have that low a level of common sense.”

    • Ken

Christianity seems to have “the devil in it details” All should be equally yoked. I for one do not see that. I’m a believer in the Son of God. Not so much Christainity.

    • SomeDumbGuest

hows that saying go? God only helps those who help themselves.

  • Kathleen3

Those who hide behind the mantle of God and religion in order to achieve their sinister goals are repugnant. The so-called evangelical pastors who attempted to have our legislators betray their constituents and their oath of office meet the definition of repugnant.

Dana Rohrabacher, Steve King, and Jeff Sessions are included among the handful of elected representatives who actually do honor their oath of office.

  • Tomas Cruz

If you listen to black talk radio. They are just or more opposed to this bill then republicans and Tea Party members are. Why they don’t join up and fight this together makes no sense.

  • richard bergman

The democrat party is at a dead end.
If they cannot import more socialists they are finished.

  • snapperman

I have voted R every election for almost 50 years. Not this fall.

    • DaMav

No question that the current party leadership is a disgrace bit if it were not for Republicans like Rohrbacher and Sessions, Amnesty would have passed long ago. It’s a frustrating mess

    • Vesuvius1313

Remember many didn’t vote R last election and look at what a mess we have now along with “reform immigration”. I am not happy with every republican but I don’t want more progressives voted in.

      • Corpseman57

Some of the Republicans are progressives.

  • Oboy_must_go

Yea who cares if millions of Americans are unemployed and can’t support their respective families. Sure bring in low-wage slave labor, that will help. This is absolutely sickening.

    • RedGA

Don’t see a single unemployed American running to the poultry plants. Or picking heads of lettuce.

      • Oboy_must_go

Illegals do that now. So why make them citizens? Cheap labor is always crossing the border.

      • Greg Barton

How can you see with your head up ur….. your countrymen are unemployed and starving yet you seem to schadenfreud the whole issue. BRAINDEAD DEMOCRAT!

Tossing Obama’s salad this man is…..

      • tibet

A little more than six years ago I did, and I’m still there. And I ain’t the only one there, either. Our wages don’t go up because there is a glut of unskilled labor on the market, unlike during the nineties when the plants were offering two weeks vacation after two years, and raising all employees pay to meet the higher seniority. Those days are long gone.

        • RedGA

Not sure where you are but around here the poultry plants have been begging for workers to step up. Even in areas where there is high unemployment. Many are still seeking labor with no help in sight.

          • Mi

That is a welfare issue. If the welfare checks were suddenly cut off I think a bunch of lazy GA citizens would suddenly be out looking for work.

          • DC

No they wouldn’t. They would just move to new York or California

          • Mi

Very true. They already have a welfare circuit.

      • gringott

I tried to get a job picking when I was in AZ many years ago, I had done the same job in the Mideast, they refused to even let me apply for the jobs, the AZ state employment office told me those jobs were “reserved” for Mexican workers. Gringos need not apply. That is the truth.

        • RedGA

Feel free to travel around to poultry farms, plants, and produce farms.
Do a little poll. A few years ago here in GA the Governor pushed for
tighter immigration enforcement. Illegals fled. Owners begged the public
for help. Even the Governor stepped up asking for help. Even in a
downturn economy produce sat there rotting in the field. All of the DoL offices begged the ones filing for unemployment to go to those farms to get jobs. Very few bothered.

          • SandyToesSC

Then they shouldn’t get the unemployment check. Very simple, if you are able to work, you work. No job should every be beneath you.

          • Lt_Scrounge

When a single mother of three rakes in welfare benefits that are roughly 4 times what they would earn in a minimum wage entry level job, where’s the incentive for them to stop having kids and get a job?

      • JonathanO

Ah the Democrat lie: “we need people to do the jobs Americans won’t do.”

Translation: “we need an underclass because we’ve subsidized the laziness of too many Americans who find it more lucrative to be unemployed than actually work.”

No one capable of working should get a dime in government assistance unless they are cleaning trash off the street, cleaning bathrooms in public buildings, or some other labor. Once they do that and understand there are better options we might start a trend of upward mobility. You know, that thing that existed before Johnson vote-buying “Great Society” got really underway?

Bottom line: if one doesn’t have to work there will always be those who are going to go that route. They might abuse alcohol or drugs to deal with the fact they know they’re worthless, but that numbs the pain just enough.

        • RedGA

No lie. And no Democrat. Your reply is the typical copy and paste response.

          • JonathanO

So you do want a permanent underclass. Thanks for clarifying your racism.

Oh, and I didn’t copy and paste, that just seems like projection on your part after seeing your other brainless posts. Are there any leftists that still have a brain or is all just indoctrination now?

        • betsym

Hmmm, your facts? Give me a break. Let me just tell you something that maybe you can or can’t comprehend. There are people that have lost their jobs and have families. If they take a job cleaning trash off the streets (as you say) then they have to go on welfare and food stamps so that they can feed and clothe their families. That’s why they stay on unemployment until they can find a job that pays the same as they had before.
Employers pay into unemployment insurance so it isn’t totally on the backs of the taxpayer like welfare and food stamps are.
I guess I find it hard to comprehend how you right wingers can justify your beliefs because to me they are crazy.

          • betsym

I meant the above comment for RedGA.

          • SomeDumbGuest

You must not have very many jobless friends on unemployment. I know several people that were in fields making over 200k/yr that got laid off. They collect unemployment because mathematically they make more money living off government assistance for them and their families than they did working. You have to rule in that these people were also paying for healthcare and the like as well for their familes, the gov. now takes care of all that and cuts them a check. None of these people intend on returning to the work force. They make more being unemployed than they did working.

          • JonathanO

Oh Betsy, I know that the indoctrination has robbed you of the ability to comprehend English or think rationally. I feel sorry for you, really.

What I was talking about (and I’ll write as plainly for possible for you) is a plan that some countries, such as Germany have instituted. If you receive government assistance such as welfare or food stamps as you only source of income (note, not unemployment) you are required to work for the public good. If the public pays your way it is the least you can do, and it also might help build some skills that can help you to get a job again.

Unemployment is a totally different thing, but it is funny that all studies have shown that the length of time unemployment benefits are paid are directly correlated to how long it takes the beneficiary to get another job. Hint: it tends to happen right before unemployment runs out.

Finally, I’ll leave you with some common sense that you probably won’t fathom: “We should not seek to make poverty comfortable. We should seek to make poverty as uncomfortable as possible thus to kick people out of it.” That’s from a crazy man named Ben Franklin. You know him, he’s totally irrational!

          • HowsItWorkingOutForYa

Jonathon, don’t bother responding to this liberal. She runs at the first sign of facts. They hurt liberal minds.

          • HowsItWorkingOutForYa

It certainly is easy for me to see how you justify your beliefs. You have the mind of a 16 year old. Do what feels good. Don’t worry about the consequences. So what if America goes broke. At least 40 million mexicans get to suck off the government *** for a couple years. Yeah, it’s a perfectly good plan.

      • Corpseman57

Stop the feeding the parasites and they’ll go to work.

      • Mi

That is the stupidest argument I have ever heard. There are no jobs because wet/backs have stolen them. My family has always worked hard in farming from picking cotton to weeding onions. You have no clue what you are talking about.

Churches being smashed by the state in China, Christians burned alive every week by radical islamists in Africa, beheaded in the Middle East, and this group of Soros puppets focuses on destroying US immigration law.

Many of the Evangelical leaders on the list of the immigration table would have nothing to do with Soros, and vice/versa.

      • RedGA

Yes, apparently conservative Republican voting pastors are now puppets of Soros. I think 95% of America must now fall into that category according to some on here.

        • DC

So, by your definition then, anyone who supports immigration reform is a “puppet of Soros” ?

          • DC

You can call whoever, whatever you want. I read the article. The leaders have said no money came from Soros. There’s no proof otherwise.

That’s my representative! Dana Rohrabacher! Straight shooter! And don’t believe for one moment that the rank and file evangelicals want a Boehner style immigration bill passed. Don’t believe it for one moment!!

    • DC

Here’s one rank and file evangelical that does.

It’s called mercy over losing power.

      • Vesuvius1313

So you want to see our society and voting completely changed and people out of work having a tougher time get a job. This “reform” is nothing other than a democrat effort to gain votes that will give them more control over us.

        • White clowns

Exactly. If Republicans get involved, whatever goes right will be attributed to Democrats, and whatever goes wrong will be blamed on Republicans.

        • DC

Actually, your comment completely confirms my point.

This has nothing to do with “people out of work having a tougher time get[ting] a job.” That’s nonsense. However, will that mean that democrats might get more votes? Maybe so. As an evangelical, though, that’s not what I am concerned about. Instead it’s about doing what is right, and extending mercy to those who have come into the country illegally.

          • chris beyer

Doing what is right is following laws. If an illegal broke into your house, stole your belongings and threatened your family (or worse) would you say…have mercy on them? That comprises your line of thinking.

          • Corpseman57

What is “doing right” is obeying the law. Millions of illegal aliens are coming here for the free stuff, not for freedom.

          • IAMreigns

to be financially oppressed is to lack freedom…

          • RedGA

Free stuff? Ones I see are working much harder than many Americans around them. I don’t see very many Americans working in a poultry plant 12 to 16 hour shifts. Obeying the law? I sure hope you have never run a stop sign, gone a mile over the speed limit, etc. Sure would not want to accuse you of being one of those evil lawbreakers either. And what of the Americans hiring the illegals? No vitriol directed at them….odd.

          • DC

I thought they were taking all of our jobs?

          • Vesuvius1313

I am all for treating illegals mercifully; Wanting our borders secured is merciful as many die on the trip here exploited by human trafficers. Being merciful is not letting them jump the immigration system to become citizens. Give them green cards to work here no problem but no citizenship until they take the proper steps to become citizens.

We tried amnesty back in 1986 and were told it would solve the problem and we would never need to do it again [this is from the democrats back then]. Here we are excusing people that break our immigration laws. I think it is merciful to treat illegal immigrants well and provide them with a green card or a safe trip back to their home country.

          • DC

Actually, I agree with you. Give them a green card and let them work. Then let them go through the normal process to become a citizen.

        • IAMreigns

God says He will take care of anyone who trusts in Him. In fact those who do not trust in Him are cursed. It is a hard word but it is true. In Jeremiah 17:5, the Lord says – cursed is the man who makes flesh his arm and trusts in man…

All that you trust to help you are the plans of man that can be gone with the next tornado…

        • RedGA

If those who had a tough time getting a job were kicking down the doors of poultry plants you may have a point. Not seeing many eager and willing to pick lettuce and ppluck chickens.

      • chris beyer

No, its called stupidity. Why not open our borders to the entire third world.

        • IAMreigns

They are not your borders…they belong to the Lord Who made heaven and earth and gave it to the sons of men…

          • chris beyer

Then you are opposed to laws in general. I assume that means if someone broke into your home, stole your belongings and endangered your family you would not want to prosecute them because maybe they needed the money.

          • IAMreigns

If you truly understand the defeat of the spirit of destruction, stealing and lying by the Blood of Jesus, you will understand by your spirit that nothing can hurt you or steal from you. I am not into church doctrine. I am into the Word of God and seeking the Lord to teach me as I read or hear anything, because that is His Will – Matthew 23:8-10, Psalm 32:8. I am in the Father who gives us everything that is perfect and good (James 1:17) – how can I be stolen from?

If you expect evil and speak evil, you will receive evil – Proverbs 23:7, Proverbs 18:20-21. I see my reality through the Blood of Jesus and expect the Victory that He has won for me to be my reality…

I have many personal experiences of God’s manifest awesomeness as I took control over my thoughts, kept my mind from fear and demonic lies that the media, church etc. try to feed me, and watched my words to speak Life and Blessing…according to what the Lord has told us to do.

          • chris beyer

I happen to share some of your beliefs but…..your overlooking the fact that illegals came here breaking several laws and are in fact invading our country. The Bible is very clear about obeying laws and being a good citizen. Picking and choosing what you happen to prefer in the Bible is a dangerous path. You are walking (running) down that path.

          • IAMreigns

You have to shift your focus from the human being and understand the spirit realm. It is not the illegals who are the problem it is the spirit behind them or anyone who is disobeying God. If you have control in that realm you can control the outcome. On the other hand if you have no authority in the realm of the spirit, because of your own disobedience to God, then you will dig yourself into a deeper hole

It is for each person to answer to God for his or her actions. See Romans 14:4. We are to do our part to obey the Lord and the illegals will have to answer to God for what they do. We can always suggest something that gives us peace within. See Colossians 3:15.

If we are to tell the illegals, that they will be dealt with if they lie and cheat etc. but that this country is blessed because we are on God’s side and He will take care of this nation, then we have control over any evil that they or anyone else tries to impose. On the other hand if we disobey God, we have no voice and will lose. (The spirit realm is not “human reasonable.”) This is the issue with those who oppose giving the illegals any status – their arguments about running out of resources, jobs etc. is not in line with God’s thinking, so they are on the losing side.

The Lord will honor those who Honor Him and they will be blessed even if all hell is breaking loose around them. That is the promise of Psalm 91.

      • IAMreigns

I add my voice to yours…God Bless you!

OK, so according to this group, it is “biblical values” to invade another country and break their laws. I guess it was “biblical values” for the democrats to LIE when they promised to secure the borders in the 1986 agreement. May the Lord bless the Mexican people as they fix Mexico and US citizens as they fix the US.

    • IAMreigns

When the white man invaded the then US, he broke the laws of the native Indians…

      • 13thGenPatriot

You appear to be as ignorant of US history as you are of the Bible!

    • 13thGenPatriot

The leadership are lying. People need to read “The Immigration Crisis: Immigrants, Aliens, and the Bible”, by James K. Hoffmeier, (PhD, University of Toronto). He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels for more than thirty years and is a professor of Old Testament and Near Eastern archaeology at Trinity International University. Born and raised in Egypt, he has been a refugee from war and an alien in two different countries, making him sensitive to immigration issues.

Hoffmeier argues that the Hebrew Bible’s many legal and ethical proscriptions against mistreating the alien were addressed to a class of people who in this day and age might be thought of resident aliens or permanent residents (green cards and visas)—not illegal immigrants. He also argues that the so-called sanctuary movement, in which church leaders have on occasion sheltered illegal immigrants from imminent arrest, is twisting biblical statutes and subverting federal law.

  • davidlritter

Will someone please give me the scriptures (book, chapter and verse) that support amnesty?

    • IAMreigns

Read the instructions of the Lord to the Israelites. It is in the Books of Deuteronomy and Exodus. The Lord told the Israelites to treat the stranger well. In Genesis it tells us ALL human being are made in the Image of God and His likeness and Jesus told us to treat others (even our enemies) as we would treat ourselves.

The Lord says love your enemies, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who despitefully use you….where do the illegals fit in? as a lesser place of hurt to you and yet you want to treat them badly, when they are made in the Image of God. What you do to them, you do to God, and you plan to escape?

If you ask this question, my question to you is – whether you have ever read the Bible.

      • 13thGenPatriot

I have read through the entire Bible and have studied it for many decades.

Why do you hate your neighbor? The working poor are all around us and the illegal migrants you wish to grant amnesty will only cause the poor among us even more hardship and suffering. It is truly wicked to favor the criminals that oppress the poor and deny the working poor of America justice.

You have a very warped and narrow sense of what the Scriptures teach. It seems very easy for you to “love” the enemies of the poor among us. You seem very generous with their pain and suffering as you support the very group of criminals that is causing them to suffer.

        • IAMreigns

Those who are the Sons of God are led by the Spirit of the Lord – Romans 8:14. You cannot make an idol of the printed word…you have to know the Lord and His Spirit and relate to the words as He leads you…Otherwise you will be trapped by the limitations of man – and those translations etc.

if your purpose is to honor God by reading His Word, you should first seek to know Him…if you had a child who never spoke to you but read a book about you each day, would you think the child was normal? would you be pleased with that child who has made an idols of a book or books written by others about you?

    • 13thGenPatriot

The Bible does not support amnesty for criminal migrants. You should read “The Immigration Crisis: Immigrants, Aliens, and the Bible”, by James K.

Thank you for your respectful reply. I’ll search for Hoffmeier’s book.

  • RCB53

I am an evangelical Chrisiian and would be interested in a reference to the Biblical support for amnesty. Christ said “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s (ie enforcement of the border)”, and Paul describes the government official as a minister of God. And finally, one of God’s common means of grace is the civil law which restricts adverse ( read “sinful”) behavior between men.

    • IAMreigns

Then why don’t you render to your President, the Honor due to him and His wish that the undocumented get documents? He is an officer of God and as Daniel 4:17 tells us it is the Lord Who sets up kingdoms and brings them down…

Yes, and the civil law that tells people to worship allah or be killed…why do your decry those laws of those nations?

The single scripture in Romans 13 has been given the king james treatment. If you study Judaism, you will find that the Lord told His People that if they followed their unGodly leaders they will perish with them…Look at Jonathan’s death because he stayed with king Saul, who was demonized…if he had been with David, his live would have been spared…

  • h2k

So, did Soros and the Chamber of Commerce promise big donations to the Evangelicals to get them to acquiesce to illegal immigration amnesty?

    • IAMreigns

God is not a christian. He is God and Is and will always be. He tells us to treat the stranger kindly and with respect…If you rebel against His Word, you curse yourself.

The god you serve is not of the Lord. You have only two choices. You obey God or the enemy. If you disobey or disregard the Lord’s Will you are serving the enemy. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy…if yoiu serve it you will be its slave – Romans 6:16. If you were to leave the earth today, you will be in darkness, as you have rejected the Lord.

Jesus told us to Call no man our teacher or our father except God, because in Him we have the Father’s Law in our Hearts and do not have to ask our neighbor what God’s Will is – see Matthe 23:8-10, Hebrews 8:10.

I have the Heart of My Father and can hear His Voice and know His Will…why should I be reading some finite human understanding of some religious viewpoint…

It is a waste of time, and if your spirit that does not have a personal relationship with Father approves of it, I am sure it is demonic…as satan can appear as light, very religious and grand, to feed death. satan ONLY comes to kill, steal and destroy – John 10:10.

If you are hearing from Father, I will be blessed to hear what you have to say…If not, the Word of God tells me to avoid you – Romans 16:17, 2Timothy 3:5.

Read your bible instead of hoffmeir…ask the Lord to teach you…Psalm 32:8.

Where is your compassion for the working poor of America whose jobs are being stolen by the criminal migrants?

Where is your compassion for the near 25% black unemployed?

You need to read “The Immigration Crisis: Immigrants, Aliens, and the Bible”, by James K. Hoffmeier, (PhD, University of Toronto). I am not of your religion…My Father does not have children who are oppressed by poverty…if they truly know Him, they cannot be poor…it is satan who brings poverty – read the curses in Deuteronomy 28. God as Father never brings poverty…if His children don’t have something, He will create it – see how Jesus lived…when he had to feed people the food mulitplied….

I live this life in the Lord…He is a Loving and Trustworthy God and Father…

Man is a part of God and has the ability to create his reality – Deuteronomy 30:19.

My compassion is for the “christians,” hindus, buddhists etc. who are in bondage becasue of their religion that teaches them the doctrines of demons, rooted in paganism…

The mixture of Truth with the lie is worse than the lie. Jesus said it is better to be cold than lukewarm. If you are lukewarm He finds you an abomination…Read Revelation 3:16.

Why do you hate the working poor of America so much?

Why do you hate the black community in America so much (they are suffering nearly 25% unemployment)?

You claim to follow Christ, yet you condemn millions of your fellow citizens to poverty with your drive to give amnesty to the very criminals that are harming them.

Your false compassion makes a mockery of the name of Christ Jesus.

  • MrSottobanco

Betrayal is in the Bible. But it is NOT “Biblical”. America is a nation of laws. It is not a nation of race-based agendas.

    • JWHacket

Correction. It USED to be a nation of laws. Now, Obama considers our rule of law to be a cafeteria style system of picking and choosing the laws he wants to enforce and ignoring the laws he doesn’t want to enforce. Now with the influx of illegals from around the worlds, our country is spiralling out of control. Both, in terms of law and order and in terms of economic health. America the Free is almost over.

  • Kit Pendergraft

As the Bible itself advises I have read, re-read, and contemplated the words, and sought to write the ideas in the book on my heart, and the God I learned about in the Bible is not for chaos or moves in the governing of people that lack common sense or act to deceive. When evil men are in charge the people sigh. It is clear to me that the government is pushing amnesty to make sure they can stay in power for not just this election but with no borders for all elections. They remove opportunity for the electorate public to give state their thoughts and when a vote does not go their way a few judges on a court bench declare the vote unconstitutional. They seek to upend and usurp and where they are willfully taking us will lead to terrible destruction.

Worshiping the dollar and man’s ability is idolatry.

The US is crumbling from unHoliness and is destroying itself from within. The opposition to bless other human beings in the form of anti-immigration is of the devil because it is part of the agenda to make people oppress others and curse themselves, their families and the earth they dwell on.

I suggest you read “The Immigration Crisis: Immigrants, Aliens, and the Bible”, by James K. Hoffmeier, (PhD, University of Toronto). OK, let the Lord be the Judge…you open your heart to the Lord to ask Him to show you if I am lying and I will do the same…satan is the father of lies and can appear as an angel (messenger) of light…

dead religion looks good on the outside but inside it is as Jesus told the pharisees, full of death…He referred to tombstones – white on the outside with dead men’s bones on the inside…

So let us agree to ask the Lord…I trust the Lord will show you. To me it is not a contest…my heart is that you know the Truth and the Truth will not only set you free but will set your bloodline free…That is the Power of the Blood of Jesus – to set human beings free from within, and for all creation to be free…man can affect his environment, the weather etc by his lifestyle – if it is Holy the earth is Blessed. If not it is cursed. See Psalm 82..

          • 13thGenPatriot

I am fine with the Lord being my judge, because I do not stand on my own merit or on any of my own work. I stand only in the mercy of Christ, justified by his perfect sacrifice. Jesus Christ is my salvation, justification, and sanctification.

That being said, I am sickened by your self righteousness and spiritual elitism. I am also sickened by your total disregard for the working poor of America…those that bear the hardest and cruelest cost of the rampant illegal migrant invasion. I am appalled by your racist attitude against the poor black people of our nation, wanting to condemn them to perpetual high unemployment. You do realize that the unemployment rate in the black community is nearly 25%? But you don’t care…no, so long as you can feel smug and morally superior by pushing amnesty for the criminals that are hurting the poor of our nation. You don’t care about all the hardship and pain that they are causing.

You don’t know what you are talking about. The Scriptures most certainly do identify different classes of immigrants and prescribe different rights and responsibilities for the different classes.

Jesus was not interested in theology….he had a personal relationship with Father and he did nothing unless Father directed him and was in agreement with him.

I am just like Jesus – see 1John 4:17. I and My Father are One. That is because I am in Father through the Blood of Jesus who came to reconcile me to my Family in God Who is my Dad.

Do you have a personal relationship with Father? is your spirit born again where you change your identity and belong to the Family of God? see 2 Corinthians 5. Do you know what water “baptism” is? it is the Jewish Mikvah that represents the mother’s womb – you go into the womb and come up a new creation, free of death and the darkness of satan which is rooted in Adam’s rebellion.

I don’t need to read a theological thesis to know God, when I know Him – He is my Dad and I hear His Voice and can talk to Him face to face…Moses was not in the Blood of Jesus but was allowed to talk to God face to face. Today if you are in Jesus (a spiritual reality) you can talk to God as a Son to His Father – face to face.

Evidently, you do not study the Scriptures. If you did, you would know the difference between zar, nekhar and ger.

There are three Hebrew words translated as “foreigner”- zar, nekhar and ger. Zar and nekhar refer to visitors from foreign countries that are temporarily passing through. Ger refers to foreign residents that live in another land with permission from a host country (that is, legal aliens/or immigrants). An example of ger would be when Joseph asked Pharaoh’s permission for his family to live in Egypt during the famine (Gen. 45:16-18).

There are 160 Scriptural references about not oppressing the ger and providing them with equal justice, full access to the social support system of ancient Israel, and there is also provision for their religious inclusion. In turn, the ger had to live within the bounds of the laws of Israel. According to Jewish law, the zar and nekhar do not have the benefits extended to the ger, the legal alien.

If you truly follow Christ, then you would study his word.

          • IAMreigns

Try to think this way. This is from Judaism and the Promises of the Moshiach (the Messiah). Roman catholicisim came in between. Jesus referred to the Hebrew scriptures to prove who he was and how they should know Him. He did not know any christianity.

In Judaism a core belief of the Moshiach (who they earnestly wait for, and believe his coming is imminent), is that he will reconcile them to HaShem (God) and they will be One with HaShem as they were always created to be. Through them, they believe the whole human race will be saved. They also say that they will reject him and at that time he will come in riding on a donkey, when they accept him when they see him coming in the clouds.

We know Moshiach…we are part of Him and are One with HaShem. You know the scripture that the Jews were first given the opportunity to know him, and their rejection permitted the gentiles to know him….

We say he is our Head and we are His Body, and that we are His Bride and He is the Bridegroom – to indicate our intimacy and no-seperation from him, who is God – see Isaiah 9:6 and Phil 2. His Name is above every other name as His Name is that of HaShem (God).

If you are exactly like Him – 1John 4:17, then will you as God be concerned that someone will steal your job? You are infinite and you will never be in want, as your very nature is abundance and prosperity…

satan is not a fallen angel as christians teach. he is the evil in man that came from Adam. He comes to kill, steal and destroy – John 10:10. Within us, as Paul talks about, are the two natures. Our human nature and body are earth and are to be overcome through the Victory that is already ours – Colossans 2:15.

We suffer when we lack knowledge – Hosea 4:6. So if you are intent on talking about the poor people losing their jobs as though resources are limited, your knowledge is not seeing the unlimited as through the Eyes of HaShem (God).

In Romans 12:2 Paul tells us to renew our thinking…let us have the Mind that Jesus has – to be Equal with God and yet humble as a servant, as we have no need for competition or jealousy or envy or fear. We have unlimited resources and as as God is – Philipians 2:5-6. See also Hebrews 2:11, John – chapter 17, the prayer that Jesus prayed that we will be one with Father as He is one with Father. And who is Jesus – Isaiah 9:6 tell us. If we are His Bride we are One with Him and we are Isaiah 9:6.

You will know that the word Elohim used in Genesis to tell us the Image of God that man was created in, refers to the singular and plural of God…we are each one with Jesus as we are corporately One with him…

Does Biblical teaching reward law breakers? NO. Did Evangelicals stay home, not vote and not provide the votes that would have kept Barack Obama out of the White House? YES! They need to get off their high horse and shut up.

    • 13thGenPatriot

The GOP needs to field actual conservative candidates.

Enforce the laws we have now Deport those that are Illegal. Islam can NOT co-exist with the American Constitution Because Women are as Free as the Men and No Religion can be Better then any other.

  • Roxy7

Aren’t churches tax exempt? So these church leaders are advocating for people who break the law and cheat the system. While these same leaders have no money taken from their pocket to pay for illegals. The people who pay the tab are the legal immigrants and American citizens who follow the law. How is that in line with Biblical teachings?

  • Lord_Mithras

This is how dumb evangelicals are, folks. Do christians not realize just how meaningless they are by now? If the republican party ever wants to hold the white house again, they better wise up and start telling these bible-thumping morons that they can practice their religion in their churches, but the days of forcing others to follow their vile morals and logic are over, forever.

    • SGT Scientist

Bigot much? The Evangelical Immigration Table is just a left-wing George Soros pro-amnesty front group.

      • Lord_Mithras

It’s typical christians being typical idiots, thinking that they actually still have power, which they do not. When they stopped torturing people and burning them at the stake, their sole hold on power was greatly weakened; people do and think as they please now, when it comes to their religious beliefs.

Actually I would have thought less of your intelligence than I already do had you put your address on the internet. Especially with that keyboard vomiting you do. I will not leave my number not because of you, but because of the world. Another thing is one of us is using their real name when they post. We will let the world decide who is the coward. Have a good day, but that seems like it will be tough with all the anger, hate, resentment, and bigotry. There is another way to live.

The demons in you are defeated…and you are deceived…get free! you need the liberty…You must be having one messed up life serving darkness – Romans 6:16. If you cry out to the Lord, He will save you. Humility is the ONLY way to God…in your pride you are like your father the devil, who is the father of lies and has no power unless people like you, or deceived christians or whoever gives power to it……

Pride comes before a fall…because of people like you, the election may bring a surprise…

      • Lord_Mithras

the truth can be found at www dot jesusneverexisted dot com check it out for yourself. Jesus never existed, he is a fairy tale. Even if he was real, you cannot deny he died wearing a dirty diaper crying out to his daddy to get him down. God turned his back on jesus, and so do I. You should to, he is not worth worshipping, even if she was real.

        • IAMreigns

I know Jesus. As all human beings are spirit we relate to Father in the spirit. I have seen Jesus and hear His Voice. He guides me, protects and and provides for me, as I share my life as a part of God with Father through His Blood…

As He said, He is one with Father, I now say, I and my Father are ONE.

Seek the Lord and He will teach you – Matthew 23:8-10, as He has put His Laws in our hearts – Hebrews 8:10.

Jesus has defeated spirits of darkness who hate Him and their defeat…they run when they see those in the Light. They have been able to live under the cloak of religion, sadly often in the “christian churches” that do not teach the Truth of God.

satan (the enemy) comes to kill, steal and destroy, but I, Jesus says, come to give you Life and that LIfe is forever in every dimension – John 10:10.

I don’t need to check with anyone if Jesus is alive…I know He is just as I know I am alive! I am not into a religion. I am in a relationship with My Father,,,Who is God, Who has given Jesus the Name above all other names…

We who are in the Lord share His divinity – see 1John 4:17 and Philipians 2:5-6.

A new immigration law will also be ignored.

We are being invaded by foreign nationals.

  • Formerparatrooper

No one with any smarts would trust a confirmed Liar like Obama. Those Illegals who have been deported and returned are FELLONS. Why give those who have broken our laws Amnesty? So they can vote for Democrats and join racist groups like La Raze who want to return western states to Mexico. Go ahead and do this and you sign the death warrant for the GOP and give the WH to the Democrat Socialist/ Progressives forever. Go ahead and snatch defeat from victory once again.

  • mowowie

    Un-frigging-believable…….

  • justarunner

If we evangelicals decide to hand the Democrats 15 million (or more) new voters over the next decade, we will soon need a permit from the government to pray. Furthermore, any discussion of “sin” will be deemed a hate crime. But for some reason we are too stupid to see that.

But that shouldn’t surprise us, considering that in 2012 we were too stupid to even show up and vote.

    • willstruth

Good point – they all complained about what morons voted Obama in and then they stayed home on election day.

  • Jason Budd

There is nothing in the Bible that requires the US government to give legal recognition to the many foreign colonies set up within America.

  • Texas Akbar!!!

Holy Mexico! Now there is a country whose crime rate reflects the glory of the Lord. Do you people believe you are being compassionate by destroying what little example remains of a Christian nation? If we allow the US to become like Mexico, what hope will they have of becoming? where will they have dreams of going? Where will we go? The whole world is descending into a degenerate mad-house.

  • Jeff Krasney

There is nothing compassionate about further weakening our immigration laws. The real wage level in the United States is lower than it was in 1968. This was when the 1965 immigration law took real effect and the U.S. started being deluged by cheap labor from the Third World. I suggest that every immigration enthusiast live on whatever he or his parents earned in 1967 for next five years. They can then get back to us about our immigration laws.

From poor American citizens. I didn’t put anyone “in the shadows.” They put themselves here. Our leaders have lost their minds up and down and right and left . . . moon bat crazy. God help us.

  • Publius

Americans have heard the “evangelical” Christian message and not enough have bought it, so these denominations want immigrants for the same reason the US Chamber wants them; they are cheap to exploit. The “biblical” rationale is bogus. The Bible does not require unemployment or coerced charity known as welfare.

    • 13thGenPatriot

This is not coming from the people, it is totally from the leadership. They think they can get more church members and that is the driving force behind this. You are correct in your assertion about their “biblical” rationale being bogus. They cherry pick scriptures to support their conclusions. It is a form of lying. There is a very excellent book, written by an Evangelical scholar and college professor, that goes into great detail about the Biblical distinctions in the kinds of immigrants and the different rights they were to be granted.

Christians should not listen to their leadership on this (because they are lying) and get this book:

The Immigration Crisis: Immigrants, Aliens, and the Bible

by James K. Hoffmeier (PhD, University of Toronto), has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels for more than thirty years and is a professor of Old Testament and Near Eastern archaeology at Trinity International University.

Many if not most of the Evangelical leaders are aware of his work, but choose to ignore it. Worse, they try to lead their congregations in a non-Biblical direction, twisting the Scripture to say things they want to hear. They have a very selective compassion…for criminal migrants that steal jobs, take public support from needy Americans, and either steal their IDs or don’t pay their taxes (both of which are felonies). These Evangelical leaders seem to think that 25% unemployment for urban blacks is OK, so long as they get their illegal migrants the amnesty they want…all justified by the hope of larger congregations (and more money in the plate). It makes me ill when I see these leaders use their positions of trust to advocate for criminals at the expense of the working poor in America.

Migrants don’t just steal service jobs, they also steal construction jobs, traditionally well paying. They steal meat packing jobs (that used to pay very well but have suffered wage depression because of the illegals). They steal autobody repair jobs. The list goes on. These Evangelical leaders have a warped sense of compassion as they favor the criminals over their brothers and sisters suffering in the current economy.

      • willstruth

        Amen to that!

  • DaMav

And He answering said unto them, undermine Caesar’s laws, reward the lawbreakers with man’s Amnesty, drive the wages of the working poor down, and build a huge government bureaucracy to redistribute wealth. To those who want amnesty and free immigration: HOW MANY IMMIGRANTS WILL BE ENOUGH? 50 million? 100 million? 200 million?

The United States is already the 3rd largest nation by population in the World. (Only China and India have more people.) We are no longer a “New World” nation in need of immigrants. Our cities are full and dying. Our Children are not finding jobs now… and you want more competition for them?

Our population is already pushing up prices…with more immigrants, the cost of living will be higher and wages will be lower . If you support amnesty you are not only betraying your country you are betraying your own family.

  • RightStuff

Didn’t find it, only some reference to being mean to a Canaanite woman. The meanness was him first refusing to help cast demons from her daughter. If that is what you were referencing, you are being unclear. Reading your comments about Jesus is like listening to a lesbian explain how to please a man. You both don’t know what you are talking about.

          • dex

you seem to be blind with respect to jesus’ foibles.

No, I think it is the reference you made, since you don’t give a book chapter or verse. It is not my duty to search out your arguments. In that interchange they are talking about crumbs from the table, but it is not about food, but having her child healed. That is why I’m confused, you are doing a crappy of job of making a point, give me the reference or shut up.

          • IAMreigns

That was in reference to his mission to only preach to the those in Israel. That is what he was called to do by Father..

The woman was not of Israel, and he referred to his mission and to the Truth that healing belonged only to the children of God. It was their bread. (You cannot serve satan and receive healing from God.)

However her spirit was pure and she wanted the children’s bread. In Judaism they teach that all humanity with be the Sons of God. Jesus Himself mentioned that he had another group who would be part of His Kingdom…

You are full of lies, Jesus teaches how to live a life, not run a government. The old testament teaches how to deal with invaders, you kill them. And before you cite the sojourner verse, 1 or 2 is a sojourner, 10 million is an invasion and should be treated as such.

          • 13thGenPatriot

Then why do you hate the working poor of the United States? You want to keep them in poverty and misery so that you can feel good about yourself as you give amnesty to criminal migrants that are causing the working poor to suffer? Really?

          • IAMreigns

            Read my post…

  • SlaveToTruth

If you want to know how God deals with invaders, look at the old testament. Trying to apply Jesus teaching about personal behavior to a nation is ludicrous and stupid. Do these same progressive church leaders think the US should have turned the other cheek when Japan attacked or after 9/11? We should make it where illegals can’t work and then they will leave on their own. If we acted like the God of the Old Testament, we would have to kill them all and their children, just like God had the Israelites do.

God is a warrior, the LORD is his name.

Nowhere does the Bible support amnesty for criminal migrants that steal jobs, steal benefits, steal IDs, don’t pay their taxes, etc.

          • SlaveToTruth

I pray you get a brain. The cost of liberty is life. Many lives were given to ensure the freedom we have today. Satan is a communist you nitwit and I suspect you are too.

If The Lord God was not the Author of those battles, they were fought in vain. If you put those historical events above God, you will be destroyed…that is Truth…

Beautifully put, the Lord says that if He does not guard the house, the watchman keep awake in vain…Psalm 127.

You would be foolish not to look around you and see how many times man’s plans are destroyed – sometimes in a few seconds millions can be lost…and yet you want to cling to your prideful confidence in something man has created.

When the Lord adds wealth or blessing, He adds no sorrow with it – Proverbs 10:22. The fool says, the Lord says, there is no God…

There is a reason you have inherited a leadership you hate…

          • SlaveToTruth

Get real, we don’t try to guard this house. If you passed a law requiring every employed person to submit to e verify and fire anyone who failed and couldn’t verify their identity, all the illegals would be out of work and would leave. We have never put pressure on them and made them feel really unwelcome. Illegal aliens are the international equivalent of union busting scab workers.

        • SlaveToTruth

I’m talking about small government, no welfare, rugged independence, that is what the U.S. means, but not to you family people. You have never met a welfare program you didn’t thing should be bigger.

You have no regard for the Magna Carta, Delcaration of Indpenence or the Constitution. I don’t want you if you are going to destroy the freedom I love. You are bad for the freedom of this Country.

          • IAMreigns

So your definition of liberalism is someone who does not worship these works of man that you worship?

The Lord says, “cursed is the man who makes flesh his arm and trusts in man” – Jeremiah 17:5.

          • SlaveToTruth

I’m a classical or 19th century liberal. We oppose kings and kingdoms and want each person to be free to pursue their interests and to fail or succeed. The Royalists that opposed us wanted a king to rule, to care for his people, to guide and control them. If you remove king and replace it with government, you have a modern liberal/progressive. The goals of progressives is to destroy any liberty and replace it with a just and benevolent government. The trouble is, no such government will ever exist on the planet, at least not for long.

Immigrants today don’t appreciate how different the U.S. was from anywhere else. Now you and your ilk will help to kill my freedom or the freedom on my children or their children. Why can’t there be one country that allows freedom? Why do we need to import a bunch of socialists to keep democrats in power forever? I hate Wilson and FDR and to a lesser extend Teddy Roosevelt. These men started the slide to socialism that continues to this day.

I am a Southern Baptist Convention member and I do NOT support ‘immigration reform’.. I do see in the Bible to obey the laws of the land and that there are consequences, often bad ones, for choices we make. Something the proposed ‘amnesty & reward’ wants to let that group of people avoid.

    • 13thGenPatriot

These “leaders” (wolves in sheep’s clothing) are rending the flock by supporting criminals over their own working poor congregants. It is sickening!

  • 13thGenPatriot

Every Christian should read this book:

The Immigration Crisis: Immigrants, Aliens, and the Bible

by James K. Hoffmeier (PhD, University of Toronto), has taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels for more than thirty years and is a professor of Old Testament and Near Eastern archaeology at Trinity International University.

  • Red47

It sounds as though the Biblical stand is that the government providing support is not the same as charity in the Biblical sense. That is a good start.

  • TheSunDidIt

The Bible says that the kingdom divided against itself shall not stand. The illegal invader aliens have no regard whatsoever for the Laws of the Land and the Constitution. The Father of our country is George Washington. But is he the hero of these illegal invaders? No. Their heroes are Che Gueverra, communist murderer racist, and Pancho Villa, terrorist. It is because of these illegal invader aliens that the Communist Muslim Criminal-Fraud-In-Chief was elected.

These “evangelicals” are liberal/Black churches. Martin Luther King said the United States had nothing in particular special about it. Why Blacks regard the United States as some special penalty and punishment for them to have to be here so that their Mercedes radio’s carry something they don’t like, or their $500,000 house has a bunch of white people living around them that bothers them, I’ll never understand.

Christians should approach politics warily and always keep politics (and politicians) at arms length.

Caesar may have his due. But the Kingdom must always come first.

    • IAMreigns

and what is the Kingdom? is it not to do the works of Jesus? that is to set the captives free? see Luke 4:18 – Jesus said he came to set the captives free…

      • Ben Wolinski

And if you were to share with those “captives” (which, btw is everybody) the Good News then you’d be working for the Kingdom.

Satan is one thing, but Democrats are not the enemy of Christians, neither are actual Communists. All “leftists” are merely human beings who need to hear about Jesus (as we all do).

Perhaps they will not repent and believe (as we all must). If so, God is fully capable of dealing with them on His own. Besides, we’d only get in His way if we tried to “help.”

      • SlaveToTruth

  • Jefferson Paine

I believe in God and I believe these “evangelicals” and other religious leaders who share their views are not acting in the way Jesus taught, or by the examples he set in his life.

Jesus did not teach us to leverage the power of government to make other people provide help and charity to others – he taught that we as individual human beings
should provide help to those who need it…

These “evangelicals” are lobbying for legislation that will depress wages, increase unemployment and accelerate the
already historic decline of the middle-class that will result in a
nation made up of a hyper-powerful, ultra-rich ruling political class
ruling a massive govt/politician-dependent underclass and the remnants
    of a once world-leading middle-class.

They are pushing legislation that will manufacture 25M to 30M leftist votes that will nullify 25M to 30M votes of real American citizens.

They have no right whatsoever to burden other people with their acts of charity.

I advocate that for every “amnestied” illegal immigrant and every immigrant brought here by this bill and by unenforced laws, everyone who supports ‘amnesty’ will be taxed at 20% of gross income and the revenues will be redistributed to those of us smart enough to oppose corrupt, tyrannical legislation to make up for our inevitable losses.

    • IAMreigns

your little god says he will become bankrupt if he has to feed 25m people. My God says – He owns the cattle on a thousand hills and all the silver and gold is His, and He is My Father…

He is the God all those who support the freedom of human beings made in the Image of God serve and are His Sons – see Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 8:14.

      • SlaveToTruth

But why do you need to be in the US. Wasn’t it just as peachy keen whereever you came from? If not why, the cattle were on a thousand hills there too. You sound like the product of the Jesuit communist latin american liberation theology movement. I support the right of all the illegal aliens to live freely in their homeland. I don’t have to invite illegals here, nor did the Israelites nave to invite their neighbors to live with them.

        • IAMreigns

I am here as long as the Lord wants me here…in your human worship arena, if you know my background, I guess you will worship me because your mind is conditioned to worship the works of human beings.

I have recently had a desire to travel more to my country, especially after the s0d0my laws are coming on…I have to be guided by the Lord…the US is not my god…in fact I find it an abomination in many ways, in the way it worships the dollar and is extremely prideful, and thinks it is worshiping The Lord…

You are taught to have sex with anything that moves and you call that Holy? If you know that there are nations outside the US who abhor that garbage…and your women, would hate to wear any clothes if they can shed them all….and you call that Holy? your children are on drugs, your suicide rate is rising, your children are plagued with new diseases…and you call that Holy?

          • SlaveToTruth

I didn’t call any of it Holy. If you are here illegally, I hope you are forced to leave. If you are here legally fine. But we don’t need more socialists like you coming to our shores. Yahweh is not a socialist and Yeshuah only taught us how we should live as individuals. His themes are not for governing a nation. For example, nations that turn the other cheek cease to be nations.

          • IAMreigns

Yes, but you understand that the Lord owns the whole earth and the US is not exceptional…in fact Russia is more popular among the African and Asian nations than the US…sadly the morality of the US is not welcome in other nations…except those who are decadent in Europe…

Check out how Uganda told Obama off when he opposed their anti gay law….If Uganda can do that…you should place the US in the right perspective…

God says that when you find favor with Him, you will find favor with man – Proverbs 3:4. If you are not favored with man that means you have no favor with Him…

          • IAMreigns

Where did you find the exception for nations turning the other cheek…do you have a bible we do not know of?

we are to be led of the Lord – in war or peace….even Jesus told them to take swords with them when he was leaving to his death, because he knew they would for a period of time, not have his protection…in whatever we do, if we are in the Lord and His Sons we are guided by Him…

          • SlaveToTruth

You are willfully stupid and not of Christ. If you argue that Jesus was telling us how to establish and run governments then you have no mind. The God of Abraham teaches how to govern a country in the old testament. You are spreading false teachings and are an anti-Christ (little a)

          • IAMreigns

I am going to say something and please do not be offended. Many people have the same issue and they may not even realize it, and they are good people. From the tone of your email, I sense you are full of demons – that cause you to have a very challenging life. It is the spirit of Elymas the sorcerer, in the book of Acts.

Repent and ask the Lord to become the Lord of your life. We don’t have conversations with spirits of darkness…May the Lord help you as you make yourself open to His Help. Only you can stop your freedom and blessing. The Lord will honor a humble heart.

          • SlaveToTruth

Funny I sense the same in you. Who knows maybe we are both wrong, maybe both right. But I see in your false teachings much evil. In some of your posts, you even claim you should be worshiped.

May you find the truth and give up your commie liberation theology BS. For an example of liberation theology success (sarcasm) look to Venezuela. I think Hugo Chavez practiced your perversion of Christianity.

          • IAMreigns

what is “liberation theology?” I am not into any sort of theology…

You should focus on the Lord for your own protection. You do not need to bother about me…nor do you need my agreement. It is between you and the Lord, Who will judge each man – Romans 14:4.

Pride comes before a fall, the Bible says.

          • SlaveToTruth

Liberation theology is liberalism/communism/Marxism wrapping itself in Jesus. The Catholic Jesuits started it in Latin America. Most black churches are now liberation theology churches. They teach about oppressors and the oppressed (standard Marxism) and try to make it sound like the teachings of Jesus. You may not know it, but I suspect you are deep in the liberation theology apostasy.

          • IAMreigns

If you had a personal relationship with the Lord and knew His Will from Him instead of theories and opinions, your fastidious delivery of language may have had some use to bring Life to the human soul…

For now it is dead, and I have little use of it…there is death all over often clothed in academia and lofty sounding references, and I don’t need any more of it…I have seen much of it as I have two masters degrees in non-religious disciplines and was a university professor. I am not impressed with dead religion.

Worthless, if you do not hear and speak to the Lord, Who you either directly or indirectly seem to reference…

          • SlaveToTruth

Stop trying to make God a commie. If he was a commie, then the ancient country of Israel would have been communist/socialist. Instead the Country founded by God was about working and eating. If you didn’t work you didn’t eat, kinda different from the commie crap you advocate. You even think nations should turn the other cheek, you truly are under a demonic influence. What is wrong with you perfesser (misspelled intentionally) too many acid trips?

          • IAMreigns

Get saved! I do not want to offend you but from the tone of what you write, you are filled with demons, that you should in humility before the Lord seek to get rid of. Jesus told us to “cast out devils” and the theological schools, which dominate many US churches and preach another gospel, laugh off the presence of demons.

They have blinded you in your misery, where you think you know the answer. You do not. It was a common thing in the time of Jesus for people to recognize evil spirits as causing people’s lives to be messed up, cause them to murder etc. and be sick.

If you can keep an open mind, on race, color etc. and how they speak English, watch this man getting delivered and ask yourself how churches in the US are agreeing to accept this lifestyle and the government is supporting it as a law…

      • Faceless Commenter

The Bible says that God divides the nations, i.e., he establishes national borders. Teddy Kennedy the godless abomination senator from the People’s Republic of Massachusetts gave us the immigration Death to America bill in 1965. So, USA threw Bible out of the schools in 1964, and in 1965, Lyndon Johnson Communist drove through his Communist UnGreat Society which set the foundation to wreck United States. We would not have people looking for cheap immigrant labor if there was not welfare paying people to sit on the couch and watch HBO. Clearly God removed his hand of protection when the country threw the Bible out of the schools.

  • phillyfanatic

Sorry but these Evange. leaders do not represent me and I am a pastor too. I want the GOP to stop any amnesty and reform immigration step by step with borders secured, criminals dispatched and illegals made to stand in line, learn English and keep their jobs they have but no legal voting rights till they do the right thing. The GOP would be suicidal if they caved to Obama when Dems are on the run over all their policies. This would not only be stupid but make 50% or more of America without representation in Congress.

  • wascator

I support Rohrabacher’s position, as far as I understand it. I can support anyone in their struggle to improve themselves, but in the USA now, politicians have ruined the immigrant’s chances with the working middle class, because so much tax money is being used to lure and keep ILLEGAL ALIENS here for the benefit of the POLITICIANS.
I will retire in the next 5 to 10 years, and I KNOW I will be told “There is no money” when it comes time for Social Security, Medicare, etc. And I worked since I was in high school, as a natural-born citizen, and paid into the system and saved money apart from government programs, so I could provide for myself and my family. Politicians are giving the money WE EARNED away to lure illegals here. and it’s not just government programs like SS and Medicare. it will be increased taxes on OUR SAVINGS to pay for ILLEGALS. Now they are trying to guilt-trip us into accepting these people as full-fledged citizens, and I WILL NOT.

  • sfsoma

“I’m here today because in 2011, the Southern Baptist Convention overwhelmingly approved a resolution on immigration reform.” Take away the tax breaks from this organization and it’s associated churches. Whatever happened to religion being a private matter for Americans and separated from the State by law?

  • LogicNotHuff

The United States is being judged by God for the sins of extorting Israel to give land to the PLO terrorists, and abortion. Bible says that those that oppose Israel will have the servants take over and they will make a spoils of the place [Zechariah 2:7-9], and that the nation that sacrifices its sons and daughters will be ruled by heathen [Psalm 106]. So, the prospect of illegal invader amnesty will continue the Democrat Communist plunder of the nation.

    • SlaveToTruth

Well God should know that it isn’t all of us. I just wish God would deal with Obama. After all, he could change his mind or simply turn him off. Lord please deal with our anti Semite leader Obama, change his heart. Don’t punish us all for the evils of the President. If you have to punish Lord, punish him not us.

    • Observer_wi

This is your interpretation. Zechariah is basically “Revelation Part 1″ full of bizarre imagery and difficult to interpret visions.

The New Testament also says that Christians are the true spiritual Israel. I would generally agree with our nation’s support for the current nation-state of Israel. But be careful interpreting those apocalyptic verses.

  • bye bye tax exempt

are poor jobless american gringos going to be allowed to move at will to other countries, claim their resources, take their jobs, buy up their homes, and create their own enclaves in every town and city???????

NOPE. this is not immigration reform, its a one way street of bending the poorest and neediest americans over the card table while shafting them in favor of “donation” spewing global slave master corps who want to own the US labor market and manipulate it to their benefit.

EVERY ONE of these snake in the grass “evangelical ministers” needs to be stripped of their tax exempt status – they are engaging in pure political acts and are not tax exempt at this point.

  • WillVMI68

I have been a Southern Baptist since I was a child, and I can tell you these guys DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME concerning Christian Love and the INVASION BY ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Jesus didn’t teach “Forgive and Forget.” He preached “Forgive and REDRESS.” Remedy the wrong you have made and accept the forgiveness offered.

Jesus taught Forgiveness AND Atonement – Sin carries a COST and you may be forgiven BUT you must make restitution AND STOP REPEATING THE SIN.

Jesus told the “Woman at the Well” “Go. And SIN NO MORE.”

ILLEGAL ALIENS must find a way to redress the wrong they have committed and continue to commit or must go back home, and follow the laws to return. They certainly should not be rewarded for Invading our Country and continuing to refuse to follow our laws against Illegal entry.

    • IAMreigns

Does being s baptist give you a pass to heaven? Jesus said. He was the Way, the Truth and the Life…not the s baptists…

      • WillVMI68

Being Southern Baptist doesn’t get me to heaven. Jesus offers redemption and salvation. It’s up to me to accept the offer. That’s what gets me to heaven.

I’m not sure what that has to do with this article,

  • Observer_wi

So long as these folks are expressing personal views and not saying that the
Bible commands Congressmen to grant amnesty, then it’s fine (sort of makes you wonder why they corporately lobbied as ‘Evangelical Pastors’ though).

I’d tend to support reasonable steps on the back of very stiff border
security and enforcement of the law (mostly on businesses employing ‘undocumented workers’).

  • mnolan13

Are these the same evangelicals who got behind polytheist Mitt Romney?

  • e3mrk

We need to root out all republicans that have turned Their backs on Us and vote in decent ones.

  • Nat George

I’m part of the Southern Baptist Convention, I don’t know where this fellow gets his authority, but our church of 3000 strong does not support any such amnesty movement. He does NOT speak for us.

  • Teresa_Michelle

We are broke, unemployed and devolving at light speed as a society. Common sense is nonexistent as are, apparently, math skills. Even considering amnesty – in any form – is complete and total absurdity. Unbelievable that this topic still has legs.

    • Norman_Dale

Furthermore, every SBC church I’ve ever attended encourages it’s congregants to honor and obey America’s laws. Illegal immigrants and their the pandering, unAmerican politicians that support amnesty neither honor America or obey it’s laws.

Interesting. My church always tells me to follow the law of the land.

And why don’t these supposed pastors care about the millions of American citizens that are already needing a job to support their families, instead of caring more about people that entered the country illegally?

    Do they hate Americans?

    • DC

Ummm, no. They understand that illegal aliens are taking the jobs no one wants.

So that means you believe that it is just fine for people to sit home on welfare instead of taking a job that they consider beneath them?

That’s what you’re saying right? That not all work is noble, and the rest of us should support those who refuse to work?

That makes for a good country.

        • DC

No, I’m not saying that at all.

  • JGTheMan

I guess these “evangelical” pastors enjoy watching their flock being overrun and subjugated to the state. Why is it that people always only see the recipients of the largess and wholy ignore those who have to pay for it? Aren’t we citizens people too?

I dont know who these supposed evangelicals are,

  • HoosierDave

As a Christian Conservative, I agree with Rohrabacher. I have a Christian obligation to help those truly in need, not able bodied criminals like illegal immigrants.
Let us divide the US into 2 Nations, one where bleeding heart Liberals can live in their own Utopia and one where Christian Conservatives can live without constant harassment by the former. Which Nation will be begging the other for help within 3 generations? I wonder? LOL

    • fedupMan

I like the idea but its not gonna happen. The libs need Other Peoples $.

      • HoosierDave

Agreed? What is the difference between a Conservative and a LibTard? We both believe in helping those in need: it’s just that Conservatives believe in doing it with their own money. :-)

      • HoosierDave

I have read the Bible several times. Show me where it calls a man to give food and shelter to an unrepentant criminal? Show me where it states that I am to allow someone into my house who intends to steal from me and violate God’s Laws? Jesus showed mercey to the repentant criminal on the cross but did not show mercey to the unrepentant criminal.

  • Norman_Dale

What the h*ll is this??? The article makes it sound like the SBC and other evangelical groups are squishy on illegal immigration but never clearly states their position.

My pastor, from the heart of the southern bible belt, doesn’t believe in illegal immigration, and I don’t know very many church goers that believe that people here illegally should receive amnesty.

This is just more soviet style disinformation spun by the MSM and endorsed by GOP RINOs to get conservatives to shut up and rollover.

    • DC

I am an evangelical, and a member of a southern Baptist Church. I am in full support of immigration reform, and I know of many others. You have to look for the one who aren’t brainwashed like most of the people who have commented here.

      • Norman_Dale

Perhaps people of your opinion are the majority where you go to church. In my church the few people I know like you are the ones that are willfully brainwashed….by a liberal MSM and left-wing seminaries called universities.

        • DC

Sorry, but your language gives you away as the one being brainwashed. Do yourself a favor and turn off the radio shows that you listen to, and instead read your bible. I can promise you, you will feel much better about life.

          • PapaLouie

Have you read your Bible? Jesus said, “anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.” Jesus would insist that people enter by the gate, why don’t you?

      • wascator

  • MarcusCarcus

Yes…they were Southern Baptist Democrats who were asked to be there to help Boehner (Bain) satisfy his constituency (the wealthy companies who want the cheap labor) in his efforts to cram through Amnesty Reform. Boehner is nothing less than a liberal hack in a Republican suit…he is the classic liberal feigning conservatism at key moments for the cameras and the public. Their lack of border enforcement has allowed millions of illegal aliens and terrorists to enter our country unabated. Between the terrorists and the illegals, there won’t be much of this country left in 10 years. America has voted that it wants to look more like Mexico and that is exactly what they will get…drug cartels (already working here), corrupt government (nothing left to say there), and lawlessness from the highest offices to the streets (again, nothing left to say there).

  • Guest

    This is a test

  • levotb

Rep. Rohrabacher knows that churches or church pastors aiding and abetting illegal aliens–giving them sanctuary, jobs, money, etc.–is a felony in violation of our Federal Immigration laws. Why he didn’t mention this and that Evangelical leaders seem more interested in competing with the Catholic and LDS churches for “warm, illegal alien bodies” to fill their pews is a mystery to me.

  • hydrangea1

Hooray for Mr. Rorabacher, the only one telling it like it is. 40 million illegals will spell doom for this country.

  • fedupMan

The globe cannot live in USA and USA cannot support the entire globe with our $. No one on this earth has enough $ to save the entire world. America will not survive the onslaught. Fact of life.

Don’t fall for this foolishness. Biblical teachings do not espouse surrendering to invaders. Leftists want more votes. They want the right to agree bring them in and turn us into a single party third word nation where all are poor except for the few elites, i.e. Democrats, running the nation.

    Amnesty? No. Immigration reform? Sure:
    1. Secure the border.
    2. Currently present illegals admit guilt for trespassing, falsification of employment documents, false tax filings &/or tax evasion, plus identity theft and forgery if holding fake ID. Probation of jail time but pay fines + restitution or leave the USA. Five year time payment plan available at prime rate + 10%.
    3. Those guilty of #2 may never become citizens nor receive unemployment payments, EBT, SSI. No income, free ticket out.
    4. All minor children shall be considered subject to the jurisdiction of their parents, not the USA, until reaching age of majority.

  • allchildren1991

The evangelical base is for legal immigration but dead set against amnesty. A few odd leaders–and perhaps even more “leaders”–are in with Reid and Schumer. I don’t particularly like it…

God’s Law, John. His concern was not man’s law.

  • themelios

Evangelicals? Just another bunch of useful idiots for the left. Once the illegals are made citizens, the left will have unlimited and perpetual power, and then there will be no more evangelicals. And they will heartily deserve their fate.

    • Chuck Nevada

Themey – these are not Evangelical Christians, they are goats. Read your New Testament my friend. Do not be duped. The Left and Right are labels of man, as are borders.

      • themelios

Sorry Chuck, but you have read neither the Old nor the New. In the Old, the borders of Israel are marked out very precisely according to God’s command. And in the New, the Apostle Paul says in Acts 17:26, “[H]e made from one man every nation of men to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and THE BOUNDARIES OF THEIR HABITATION.” So God himself determines borders, and obviously uses men providentially to delineate and enforce them. And as for right and left, Ecclesiastes 10:2 says, “A wise man’s heart directs him toward the RIGHT, but the foolish man’s heart directs him toward the LEFT.”

  • Gail Keller

So, Alinskyites started an “evangelical” organization to give Republicans cover for voting for a very anti-biblical bill. What a surprise. And Roll Call gives them press as a legitimate Christian group. That’s a problem. A rose that smells like a duck might actually not be a rose. This is an ad hoc pro-amnesty group in evangelical clothing, nothing more.

Why not just out of love have open borders?

    • PapaLouie

What about giving plane tickets to Africans, Indians, and other loving people all over the world so they can come here for a better life? Why should the opportunity be limited to just those who are near our border? I’ve never understood the reasoning behind allowing only certain groups to invade our country with impunity. Isn’t that racist?

      • Daisy May

Yep I follow your logic, and I think we in agreement

  • Brenda

It is so sad that there has to be more laws and more laws for immigration. There is already laws for immigration. If people from different country want to come to the United States and live here, then they need to go by the laws that are already on the books, and become American citizens. If they are not taking the steps necessary to become American citizens, then they need to go back to the county that they came from, and if they do not go back to their own country, then arrest them and ship them back.

  • PapaLouie

I wonder what these pastors would do if they returned home to find illegals living uninvited in their homes. Would they call police to have them deported off their property? Or would they invite them to stay and then give them a pathway to adoption into the family? Until they are willing to do the latter and practice what they preach, they are hypocrites. Don’t ask the country to do what you are not willing to do yourself.

  • Brenda

What really needs to happens is, every single politicians needs to be thrown out of office, they know exactly what the laws are for people to migrate to this country. The so called leaders do not want to go by the laws. We need new leaders, that is HONEST, has INTEGRITY, and CHARACTER and those that will go by the Constitution, but we do not have that. If we did have that there would be no arguments this immigration mess. If we had what I mentioned above. The immigration problem would be solved.

  • BT

Like the business they too want their cut if the donations and warm body’s to fill their pews. These religious leaders need to reread the bible, it is very clear about following the laws of the land, not to be a criminal ( they broke the law crossing the border illegally) they continue to break the laws by staying here..ever wonder how or who SSN they use to get these jobs ? I keep hearing about life lock and other services and identity theft..millions of leaches needing working ssn and who do you think they will get them from ? Oh yeah Americans just like the jobs they took and depressed the wages for everyone else! These religious leaders are products of the devil..when you mix religion and God and Government it is bad…lastly how did satan offer all the governments , and their kingdoms to Jesus if, Jesus would denounce God and worship Satan ?..how could he —unless he owned them seeded and grew them..he is the ruler of this world –bible says so..till the end of days..a ruler of governments, the same governments these men of the cloth love to be around and socialize with..if they were true to their beliefs they would be better severed feeding the poor, clothing the poor , helping them…Nahhh best to fly to Washington eat the fat and drink the milk and poor honey on their rich bread and talk about how close they are to God and the law makers of Washington..smells like corruption to me

  • Chuck Nevada

Shouldn’t our fellow Evangelical Christians be concerned with a kingdom other than man’s political kingdom. Borders are political. As Evangelicals are we not concerned with the Good News of His Kingdom, not rules concerning kingdoms established by man?

  • Clipper

I’m an evangelical, but there has been way too much law breaking and dishonesty on the side of illegal immigration, as the name itself indicates. Some are saying that we cant even say “illegal immigration” without running afoul of the politically correct goon mind police. The truth of the illegal immigrant label touches a raw nerve in the dishonest.

Of course Mexicans think that it’s nice to be able to come to rich America illegally, loot our entitlements, bring in their brother in law, and take our jobs. Nice does not equal good. Heroin feels nice I suppose. Nice is the crown jewel of sophistry. Mexico should return the favor.

In the 1980s there was a promise to control the borders that was to come along with the amnesty that was granted to illegals. Now there are five times as many illegals in our country. Now its our turn. We should be stuck on stopping illegal immigration dead as the only immigration reform issue from here to eternity. This is the only way to deal with the crooks in this matter.

I may not sound nice. But I’m talking about good, not nice. Big difference.

If Mexico kept more of their most ambitious citizens who jump at opportunity, it would help Mexico immensely.

  • bruce may

Our bank is already broken!!! $17 Trillion broken!! What part of “we’re broke” don’t these guys understand?

These so-called “Evangelicals” or whoever they are-continue to demonstrate their ignorance of scripture. Claiming that they want to keep with the biblical ideals and are therefore pushing for immigration reform–seems to misguided for me to believe that they are wise Christians……with a working and growing knowledge of scripture and Christ Jesus.—Can’t say much about them—don’t know them—-but I can understand what they have said in the past–and what they are saying now. They sound much too short-sighted. And there are a lot of pretenders out there.

  • Clipper

The illegal aliens think this evangelical group is so nice! “What nice people they are,” they think. “To let us come and have all the nice things that Americans have produced,” they say to each other. “What a bunch of suckers!,” says another.

Bryan Wright is wrong! He’s a naive babe being exploited by Soros, Gates, Zuckerberg and big business. He apparently doesn’t know that law enforcement all along the US border has opposed “reform.” He also has ignored the Congressional Budget Office projection that “reform” will suppress American middle class wages for a decade.

No Amnesty!!! Who are this feminized “evangelicals”?

  • larsonjs

As an evangelical Christian and a Pastor, I have to say that I am opposed the any proposal for amnesty. I don’t know what has happened to the leadership of the so called evangelicals, but they do not represent me and a fairly large number of evangelical Christians that I know. I believe that step 1 is to start enforcing the laws that are already in force. That will solve a large part of the “broken immigration system.” Step 2 is to strengthen security so that people who want to enter this country must do it in a lawful manner. Step 3 is to repeal the laws that say that any child born here is automatically a citizen (or legal resident, I’m not sure how the law reads). This would cut the desperation of pregnant illegals to cross the border to have their children. At that point, we could see what needs to be adjusted in immigration.

  • ShermanTMcCoy

On the issue of illegal immigration, all three branches of our government have failed the American people, it seems our clergy have as well. Will anyone standup for those who gave their blood, sweat and tears to build this country? Will no one protect the birthright of the progeny of Americans killed in wars around the world? Who will be our advocate?

  • Idahocntryboy!

I have a problem here with these Evangelicals as I too am a evangelical. God tells us to obey the laws of the land and yet, the Southern Baptist Convention wants to reward those to disobey the laws of this land and come here illegally and not willing to obey the rules, so they can fill their pews based on political strategy and not doing the work of making disciples. So will the evangelicals be able to support their flock when the middle class has been eroded and more jobs will be lost? Do we sacrifice American jobs from those who live and work and pay taxes here as well as tithe because of misplaced compassion? The bible says go into all the world and preach the gospel, it does not say bring the world into your reach and country and preach the gospel.

HE POSTS THIS ON EVERY ARTICLE

And those comments are almost always deleted … although some web sites are more proactive than others.

But it always helps when many people flag those comments, because that ultimately places them in “moderation” pending deletion.

20% of all households have no one who works – 20%. And the GOP wants Amnesty? This is insanity!

    • leslymill

      THEY WANT SLAVES

  • TylerM

I live in Arizona, but I must say that I have long been impressed by Congressman Rohrabacher, one of the best Representatives in the entire US Congress. It just goes to show that not everything from California is all bad.

  • pjdjmj

As usual Rep. Rohrabacher makes perfect sense. He is one of the few White hats in Congress.

    • R.t. Greenwood

      His response was brilliant.

  • RJLigier

Another left wing group of social liberal Evangelicals masquerading as conservatives. Just your typical group of pathologically lying homosexual and bisexual leftists.

  • JosephinaAngelina

This Evangelical knows that the most unloving thing we can do is allow immigration chaos to continue until it destroys this country, the last best hope of mankind on this earth. Enforce the law, secure the border, then we can address the hard cases with some grace and mercy.

  • dclach

Essentially these “Evangelicals” seem to mean well, but fail to understand what the Bible actually teaches. They may not be leftists themselves, but at best they’re dupes for those who are.

  • leslymill

I would have not problem deporting 13 million CRIMINALS

  • Youreallydon’tgetitdoyou

Evangelicals once again showing their true colors. Twisting Bible passages to fit whatever their favorite narrative is for the week.

From their own admission they are preaching politics from the pulpit.
A clear violation of tax code.
Take down all their names and open an investigation into their tax exempt status.

    • Ben Wolinski

What Bible passages have they “twisted”?

I didn’t see ANY Scripture quoted in this article.

  • ralbaii@aol.com

To hell with these evangelicals trying to give RINO boehner an excuse to pass amnesty. This would forever guarantee the election of more communist democrats and therefore ruination of this republic. These pastors are simply looking for a way to get more donators into their empty churches. It’s because of the gutless pastors deliberately not discussing cultural and Constitutional violations the USA is collapsing.

  • D.m. Downing

Leftists employing the “false flag” technique again. The media can always be counted on to play along.

  • Randy Hitt

If they support INVADER AMNESTY they aren’t Americans throw them out with the rest of the trash!

  • Ludlow Porch

Where were these pastors when Row-v-Wade was an issue or when the homosexuals and their lobbyist are spreading money around in DC to promote their EVIL AGENDA? Where were they? I will bet you that their churches have a copy of the UNholy quran displayed right next to The Holy Bible on the back of the church pews.

  • Glenn Loatman

Absolutely no reform on immigration policy. Will vote against all progressive republicans who vote for it.

    • R.t. Greenwood

I have told my congressman if you vote for immigration “reform” (scams always in quotes), I will not be making the drive to the polls in November. I have only ever voted GOP.

  • Youreallydon’tgetitdoyou

    The GOP is dead.
The amazing part is the number of TP and Conservative types who think they can save the GOP, simply by voting against RINO’s
The party leaders are not going to allow that to happen.
If the Cosnervative base was sucha force in the GOP? Why is it the GOP has RINO’s as their leaders in both houses?

Both the Democrats and the Republican parites are destorying America in a concerted effort.
Only leaving both parties and making alliances with Independents, Moderates, Constitutionalists and Libertarians, who are not going to vote for either party, will tyhere ever be a chance to regain our Constitution.

    Otherwise; “Forget about it.”.

    • R.t. Greenwood

Interesting. The “dead” GOP is favored to control both houses in November.

  • Ben Wolinski

Christians should approach politics only warily.

Caesar may have his due. But the Kingdom must always come first.

  • AdmiralAkbarf

I think most people’s problem with “immigration reform” isn’t that people who are here illegally will eventually have a way to become legal residents/citizens, it’s that our lawmakers, given an inch, will then go a mile in “fast-tracking” them along that process. Thus, amnesty has happened. The problem is that our politicians continuously create laws and then, at the very least, immediately violate the spirit of that law if not violate the law altogether. Our current politicians are simply not worth our trust.

  • mcsegeek1

Politics and Christianity are a bad mix most of the time. Evangelical leaders should pick their battles more carefully. Abortion? Absolutely. The g a y agenda? Absolutely. Defense of marriage? Absolutely. I see very thin and slightly manufactured evidence for immigration reform in the scripture. Christ’s Kingdom, by his own admission, is not of this world, and the world has a SIN problem, not an immigration problem.

    • carlzilla

So, the destruction of a society with unfettered immigration would improve our moral climate ?

  • buffmuffin

Amnesty is treason, and Southern Baptists are all pedophiles. Why would anyone listen to them?

Q:Why did the Southern Baptist have sex with his 3 year old daughter?

A:Because he didn’t want to be seen out dancing.

  • peter007

The Democrats won the immigration battle. The only question is when they will take home the prize. It may be one year, or 5 years or 12 years.
It’s just like taxes. You can’t avoid taxes you can only postpone them.
The objective of a political party is to have power and keep it. The ideology is secondary to a political party. The ideology parties get 1% to 2% of the vote.
Plus…there is nothing in Republican ideology that says they have to be anti-Hispanic or anti Asian.
The best the Republicans can do now is to offer an immigration bill coupled with provision that an essential welfare program be cut way back to the point of elimination. Get something for your loss.
Once you go to trial, the opportunity to reach a settlement vanishes..
That time is coming with the immigration vote.

    • R.t. Greenwood

Immigration “reform” is the Democrat Voter Importation Act.

    • carlzilla

A tsunami of destruction for the middle class. We are destined to be a bankrupt, third world nation. Those who sold us out will live hidden in their gated communities. You can’t compromise with a tsunami.

      • peter007

You have to live in the real world.
        There is no more debate.
        Now the voting starts.

    • http://tinyurl.com/ockhqlx What about taking the house?

Sadly you are correct unless they are deported pronto and we know RINOs will never do this. I just want to make sure you know 44 million low wage and mostly illiterate south Americans (who will turn on gringos party affiliation not required) will have a devastating effect on you as well right? At least we will all suffer in poverty together and we get to pound your skull into the ground form making it happen, this is the part I look forward to.

      • peter007

You have to understand the debate is over. The game clock is at zero. The democrats will get credit for any immigration reform and the Republicans will get blamed for not passing and for passing any immigration bill. The Democrats have had this planned.
If you fail to plan, you plan on failing. The Republicans dug themselves in a hole. They didn’t plan.

Deporting 44 million people is logistically impossible and would be decried through out the world and in the US as ethnic cleansing.

  • Mitch

Boehner, like Obama needs to go. In fact, he is worse. Obama is a known socialist, Bohner pretends he is a conservative. America is undone.

  • bevus

Evangelicals! liberals! they are giving Christians a bad name. killing this country with fanaticism religious greed based on false God’s, and false politics. The liberals are trying to coop the religious right as lefties, or they themselves are cooping them for cover while their followers dress themselves in the cloak of Jesus and say they are evangelical.

  • R.t. Greenwood

What a brilliant “spot on” comment from Dana Rohrabacher. Point 1 tells us that immigration reform is simply the Democrat Voter Importation Act. (Btw, where will California get enough water for the 5-10 million immigrants who would flock to that state?).

Point 2 is to tell the evangelicals to read more of the U.S. Constitution AND he gives them a sound basis for putting their religious beliefs to work constructively.

  • carlzilla

Big business owns the politicians = unlimited immigration.

It’s Primary season. If your Representative doesn’t have an opponent, get one!!

Did these “Evangelicals” get more or less than 30 Pieces of Silver for this?

  • juliams

these evangelicals are full of crap….they are nothing more than Jackson/Sharpton wannabes. If you want to help the criminal trespassers in this country, do it with your OWN money. Then we’ll see just how “CHRISTIAN” you really are.

Tax exempt status….anyone? Why isn’t the IRS shutting these people down?

  • eddie333

Evangelical Immigration Table is funded by GEORGE SOROS. Nice to hear that “spiritual leaders” are getting into bed with Satan’s spawn.

  • Stella

Evangelicals are part of the problem as they go abroad on their “missions” and encourage people to migrate to the U.S. They are very short-sighted and refuse to see what their actions have done and are doing to America.

  • NorgeX

Do NOT pay any attention to the leadership of the “Evangelical” United Methodist Church. Seniority, alone, has gotten a cadre of left-wing-loonie-tunes institutionalized into the leadership of the church, and despite a constant battle with the vast majority of the membership we cannot get them removed. They continue to advocate for the Million Mom March, donate money to various ‘gay-rights’ orgs. lobby at the state and Federal level for invaders to be given amnesty, and assist in harboring fugitives from justice, and is currently trying to re-write the bible to: remove any reference of God as “He”, in an effort to make the bible ‘gender-neutral’ and therefore “less offensive”, ( direct quote from the state President of the United Methodist Women, at a regional meeting in SW Minnesota last fall.) Any politician who listens to ONE of them will incur the wrath of tens of thousands of the members. Like our current government ‘regime’, this churches leadership no longer represents the members, and removal, while inevitable, may or may not occur, without some ‘disruption’.

These so-called evangelicals care more about their perception in the liberal media than with the biblical principles of nationhood, rule of law, and Protestant theology.

  • Wigglesworth

Evangelical Immigration Table is an arm of the National Immigration Forum. The NIF received over $3 million from George Soros’ Open Society Institute. This is more left wing astroturf.

  • ivanjohn

the social gospel that these heretics teach is from the pit. It is not the gospel according to Jesus

  • Chuck

If only “immigration reform” would be to fine companies for each illegal they hire, deportation, stiff fines for those who commit crimes–automatic deportation–stop the anchor baby law; life sentences for those are caught twice committing crimes; get people off the welfare rolls so they’re “willing to do the jobs that no one will do”.

  • Laura Forster

Notice it is the media deeming this group evangelical. The former head of the Southern Baptist Convention. They wanted immigration reform but not amnesty where the law is not followed. The media is twisting this. There is another movement in the church that is trying to educate pastors on what Jesus really said. He never said it was the government’s job to do what the hands and feet of the individual was to do. And he never advocated breaking the law. Give to Caesar (the Constitution) what is Caesar’s (the Constitution’s) and give to God what is God’s. The people of God are to help these illegals and their children but does that mean help the criminal as well just because they are illegal. And are they (illegal immigrants) not breaking the law, so are they not a criminal. A worker guest pass is the thing to do after you send them back. Canada does this and it works why can’t we? Sovereignty is important to the idea that men died to fight for that border so that all men who come legally to America have the chance to be free. Not so criminals could be free. It is mass chaos at our borders and innocent people including Mexicans are being raped, sold and killed.
Yes there needs to be immigration reform but not what Boehner is selling.

  • Looking4Sanity

So…Social Justice Theology has corrupted the Southern Baptist denomination too.

    Jesus wept.

  • tim

I guess they’re vying for the title of stupidest of the stupid party. Perhaps Jeb Bush can tell us what the Christian thing to do is, along with his South American? Mexican? wife… and family. Spare me the anti-American self-serving hypocrisy. Please.

  • chickobla

Southern Baptists are all for doing the right thing and God bless them for it. But immigration reform is impossible so long as we have a Congress that can’t stop the President from picking and choosing which laws he’ll follow or change by fiat. If our Government lacks the will, capability or common sense to enforce our borders and our current immigration laws then they will never have the majority of the people behind any effort towards reform. We’ve been down the path of amnesty before and the Government didn’t keep their end of the bargain.

  • Looking4Sanity

I notice that these blasphemers did not come out and SAY what those “Biblical teachings” were that they base their anti-American actions on.

A LIE OF OMISSION IS STILL A LIE!

    • Looking4Sanity

I will ad that my Letter resides with a Southern Baptist Church. You might call me a heretic, because I smoke, drink and dance. I’m pretty sure that Jesus isn’t going to condemn me for that.

America is being overrun by foreign non-whites that have threatened our nation’s security. These people will no doubt be pulled into the democratic voting machine and are being allowed to trespass into our country by the criminals that want it to happen.

View the voting records for the last election and you will understand that if you want to destroy America, you have to destroy the white man.

  • chickobla

Tell the whole truth Roll Call. The SBC resolution specifically excluded amnesty.
“That this resolution is not to be construed as support for amnesty for any undocumented immigrant.” http://fromlaw2grace.com/2011/06/29/southern-baptists-immigration-ducks/

  • bittman

Our politicians are just wasting their time until they secure the border. Granting amnesty rewards those who have entered our country illegally and this reward only encourages more to enter illegally. Our politicians need to secure the border before al Qaeda brings in the nuclear bombs and anthrax that they have threatened to sneak into our country via the Southern border. How much sense does it make for our government to gather metadata on each and every American for national security — but refuses to secure our borders? It does make any thinking person wonder what in the world is going on?

  • dougtheavenger

The senate “Immigration Reform” bill (S.744) would cause a 12 year decline in wages for US workers according to the CBO. If these “evangelical ministers” (parasites) had real jobs, they would not be trying to sell American workers down the river.

This is one more reason we should have elected Romney in 2012. He was committed to protecting American workers.

  • Col Klink

The Roman Church is the biggest advocate & cause of immigration. In fact it was Ted & JFK who made the 1965 Immigration Act.

    Unchecked immigration is suicidal.

    -

Papal Rome has always stated her intention to make America Catholic: “Our work is to make America Catholic… and our hearts shall leap toward it with crusader enthusiasm.” (Bishop Ireland, Baltimore Catholic Council, 1890)

Minimum wage for US citizens should be $7.25/hour to prevent unemployment.

Minimum wage for foreign nationals working in the US (immigrants) should by $20/hour.

End immigration as a source of cheap labor.

  • ancientemplar

sure and start with securing the border , then if its successful we can address the other items.

  • Stinky Man

So these Christians want the party of abortion instead?
Yet another YOUhoo fake story. They are getting old.

  • Robert Kiensler

Evangelical pastors need warm bodies in those pews just like progressives need voters in polling booths and right wing conservatives need cheap labor for their multinational globalist masters.

  • disqus_Nx7mb4Ai3M

These are Leftist Evangelicals. They like to Evangelize about Leftists issues. Not truly Evangelical.

  • iaac

I’m an Evangelical Christian and those phony Evangelical “leaders” do NOT speak for me or a majority of Evangelicals. Breaking the law (coming here illegally) is a sin. And living off the public dole is also a sin, which is what many of these illegal immigrants will surely do! And voting for the Democrats, which most of those illegals will also do, when they get amnesty, is also a sin. Because the Democrat Party is the party of abortion-on-demand and same-sex marriage.

‘Brought together by the Evangelical Immigration Table…’

Yet it is Evangelicals. What a crock of you know what.

  • Amberteka

This is another far left group, organized by the National immigration Forum of JEB BUSH and FUNDED by GEORGE SOROS. Lead by Ali Noouri..and google his resume.
The national Immigration Forum even paid for the phony religious video they put out when the Gang of Eight was terrorizing the USA.
Every vicious illegal immigration group in the USA has ties to the radical, far Left national Immigration Forum…google the Florida Immigrant Coalition where they tell illegals to call Florida Reps and tell them Jesus wants in state tuition for illegal aliens.
Yet Bush is a conservative? Today my newspaper. Cartoon of Bush saying that 15% of the USA wants him to run for President. his aide is saying to him..Yes. That is true but they are all Democrats.
