House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi praised Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a fellow California Democrat, on Thursday for her “courage” in standing up to the intelligence community, though stopped short of saying whether she believed the CIA had, in fact, spied on Senate Intelligence Committee computer files.

“I salute Sen. Feinstein,” Pelosi said at her weekly news conference of the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. “I’ll tell you, you take on the intelligence community, you’re a person of courage, and she does not do that lightly. Not without evidence, and when I say evidence, documentation of what it is that she is putting forth.”

Pelosi added that she has always fought for checks and balances on CIA activity and its interactions with Congress: “You don’t fight it without a price because they come after you and they don’t always tell the truth.

“Whatever else there is should be examined in terms of what happened and who let that happen,” she continued. “This may be one of the healthiest things we can do because I know one thing: Whatever it is, the intelligence community writes a report on that, they leave, they write a book on it, all of a sudden it becomes conventional … gossip that that’s what happened there and we really have to have the ground truth.”

While Pelosi admitted she was not intimately familiar with CIA Director John O. Brennan’s statements in which he vehemently denied Feinstein’s claims but said that she found what comments of his she had read “befuddling.”

“I have high regard for him,” Pelosi caveated. “I’ll probably see him over the St. Patrick holiday and maybe get an attitude where he thinks this is going.”

Madam Pelosi, the American people trusted you to put checks and balances into place and instead you have allowed tyranny.

  • Brenda Huddleston

Ms. Pelosi just seems so out of touch with reality. She thinks that if she denies anything she doesn’t agree with, it makes it go away. She needs to get outside the beltway and learn what is going on with her government in the real world of the average American. If she could open her mind, I think she would be shocked!

    • situbusit

Where is it you think she’s denying here?

      • Brenda Huddleston

Let’s just start with the statement that ObamaCare will not hurt the Dems in the next election. Then add her statement about Reps don’t care about the hungry children in the world.

        • situbusit

What the hell does that have to do with this article?

          • Brenda Huddleston

situbusit….you are right. It has nothing to do with that article. She supported Feinstein here which I agree with. I just think she is out of touch where ObamaCare stands. Sorry for the mistake.

Why in the world have we wasted years and millions of dollars investigating what the CIA did or didn’t do to terrorists? Nothing they did even came close to what was done to Daniel Pearl, who was beheaded while still alive by those monsters, not to mention countless other victims. The CIA does its best to protect American citizens and our government officials should quit exposing whatever dirty laundry they think they find and endangering other Americans and American assets with this ridiculous witch hunt. Surely there are more productive things they can find to do with their time and our money.

    • situbusit

      Because we’re not terrorists?

    • Hoare

because the US gov is supposed to represent the US people.
ALL the Americans I know don’t want their government torturing people.
      also …
Many of the Americans I know also think the US gov is a bigger threat to THEIR liberty than the terrorists.
“The CIA does its best to protect American citizens” <– and this MUST be done legally. or are you claiming their job is impossible to do legally?

Do you really think it is okay for a government to break the law as long as its your government breaking the law to benefit you?

You sound like Jack Nicholson telling me how much I need him on that wall

“..they come after you and don’t always tell the truth”. Madame Let’s-Make-It-Law-and See-What’s-in-It just summed up Obama and his vindictive IRS thugs. Period.

she’s apparently heard of Otis Pike (google if you’re unfamiliar) – saying “they come after you and they don’t always tell the truth” is like saying Attila the Hun had an active outdoor lifestyle…
