D.C. Jazz Festival Heads into Home Stretch

The annual D.C. Jazz Festival wraps up this weekend on Sunday, and there is still plenty of time to take in some great acts at Washington’s biggest music event of the year, whether it be the Dana Leong Trio’s “hi def Yo Yo Ma” mash-up style at the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue tonight at 8 p.m.:

or The Roots and their unique brand of hip-hop funk playing Saturday at the Southwest Waterfront’s Kastles Stadium at 6 p.m.:

The festival has even gotten involved in helping support Frager’s Hardware get back on its feet after a devastating fire, co-hosting a benefit performance of Washington-based composer/drummer Nasar Abadey with Hill Center on Wednesday.

There are tons of acts today through Sunday playing across the city. So, as the DJs on New Orleans’ excellent community radio station WWOZ would say, get yourself out there and listen to some live, local music.
