Go Fish! With These Senators and Wounded Vets

As Memorial Day approaches, several media outlets are ramping up their coverage of veterans and particularly the effects of two recent long-running wars. National Geographic is set to air “American Heroes Fishing Challenge” on May 27, and folks on Capitol Hill can get a sneak peek of the documentary tonight at the Capitol Visitor Center’s South Theater.
Sens. Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., John McCain, R-Ariz., Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., co-host a reception starting at 6:00 p.m., followed by a screening of the hour-long flick, which follows a group of wounded active-duty service members who go from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland to New England for the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby. Sounds like a good story. John Mayer kicks in some original music as well, adding to the production values. Several of the veteran participants will be at the CVC for the soiree.
The doc premieres on May 27 at 10:00 p.m. on the National Geographic Channel.
