Richard Nash, eBay’s head of government relations, has moved East from the online commerce platform’s San Jose, Calif., headquarters to Washington, D.C. It’s a move the online commerce platform says is “a mark of eBay Inc.’s commitment to the policy agenda in Washington, D.C.”
Nash runs eBay’s federal, state, Canada and Latin America groups. He worked on antitrust, intellectual property and consumer protection in the company’s Brussels office before heading to the firm’s Bay Area HQ. Sounds like folks in Washington can expect to see a little more from the eBay storefront.
George McElwee, the longtime chief of staff for Rep. Charlie Dent, R-Pa., has signed on with the Organization for International Investment as vice president of public policy and government affairs. It’s not McElwee’s first financial services rodeo. Prior to working for Pennsylvania’s marquee moderate, McElwee was director of federal government affairs at the American Financial Services Association.
Morrison Foerster Beefs Up Corporate Finance Practice
Morrison Foerster has made several additions to its corporate finance practice in Washington as of late. The firm has brought on Scott Lesmes, former chief legal officer for Allied Capital Corp. and deputy general counsel for Fannie Mae on board as a partner.
That hire, announced Monday, comes on the heels of the firm adding Martin Dunn, a long-time Securities and Exchange Commission staffer, as a partner earlier in November. Dunn, who moved over from O’Melveny & Myers, was previously deputy director and acting director of the SEC’s division of corporate finance.
