Defense Philanthropy, Ukraine Vs. Russia in the Week Ahead

This is the slowest week event-wise of the August congressional recess so far, at least as it pertains to defense and national security. There are, however, a few items of note.
Tuesday’s offering is from the Heritage Foundation, “Philanthropy in Defense of Freedom.” Per the conservative think tank: “At critical moments in our nation’s history, philanthropy has been an essential enabler to our Armed Forces. During World War II, philanthropists banded together to fund the development of RADAR. Another critical moment for philanthropy and defense is now at hand.”
On Wednesday, Strobe Talbott, former deputy secretary of State, will be among those talking about “The Ukraine Crisis and Russia’s Place in the International Order,” in an event sponsored by the Brookings Institution.
Thursday’s FedScoop conference on information technology will feature drop-bys by John DeLong, director of compliance for the National Security Agency, as well as officials from the Air Force, Army, Department of Homeland Security and Defense Information Systems Agency.
