Defense, Security Companies Among Top 2014 Campaign Donors

The Center for Responsive Politics is keeping a running tally of which companies and organizations are best represented among 2014 donors to federal candidate campaigns. The newest updated list counts six companies with significant defense or security business among the top 50.

Northrop Grumman clocks in at #22; Honeywell International, #23; Lockheed Martin, #26; General Electric, #30; Raytheon, #39; and Boeing, #46.

The list is a reflection of which companies, organizations and their employees are donating the most. The Center also broke down which way the companies and organizations lean, in terms of which parties they are most likely to donate to; go check out the list to see the direction in which they donate, as well as the dollar amounts.

“What’s missing is the money that we can’t see: Donations to dark money groups are never disclosed and therefore organizations that choose to spend their money in the shadows will not appear as prominently on the list as we might expect,” the Center wrote, in an explanation of the list. Dark money groups are politically active non-profits that don’t have to disclose their donors or their spending.

We already know that the defense industry is sending a lot more money the men who would become leaders of the House Armed Services and Intelligence panels.

Hey Tim, something worth noting. in 2012 Buck McKeon, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, took in (he’s retiring this year, so his numbers now are less relevant) about $566k, literally hundreds of thousands more than his counterparts. It will be interesting to see, if Thornberry gets the chairmanship, what his donations will be like. This year, Thonberry has taken in about $155k.

I mean, I do know it was my choice to learn, however I really thought youd have one thing fascinating to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you possibly can fix if you happen to werent too busy looking for attention.
