WMATA Bus Collides With Clyburn’s Parked Car
Posted at 1:26 p.m. on May 22
A Washington Metro bus did some damage to Assistant House Minority Leader James E. Clyburn’s parked Chevy HHR on Wednesday evening.
The accident took place around 6:45 p.m. in Northwest D.C. According to a spokesman for the South Carolina Democrat, the bus was traveling at a low speed when it struck the door of the congressman’s car.
No one was hurt in the minor collision but it did get some attention on Twitter, thanks to a member of the Reuters news team who happened to be aboard the bus and snapped a photo.

Clyburn was overheard making a phone call about the accident outside the Capitol on Thursday.
Asked if he had a calculation of the damages, Clyburn told CQ Roll Call he was about to go find out.
“Not sure,” he said, as he hustled across Independence Avenue.
