Anesthesiologists Double Their Lobbying Expenditures in Third Quarter

Anesthesiologists concerned about the issues of medicare/medicaid, healthcare and Veterans reported they doubled their expenditures on lobbying the legislative and executive branches during the third quarter.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists reported they spent $300,000 during the third quarter, double the $150,000 they reported spending in the second quarter. They spent $160,000 lobbying in the first quarter of 2013. During 2012 they spent $870,000 on lobbying. View their lobbying history.

The Society lobbied the U.S. House, U.S. Senate, the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Executive Office of the President (EOP), the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

The Society has its own in-house lobbyists and also hires outside firms, such as, Peck Madigan Jones, Wise Associates, Nickles Group, Health Policy Source Inc., and Kathryn Ruffalo-Farnsworth.
