Big Donors Include Paul Singer Giving $1.25 Million to RGA

Paul Singer of Elliott Management in New York, who gave $1.25 million, was the top individual donor in the last six months of 2013 to the Republican Governors Association, which took in $27 million.

Other large donors included Seth Klarman (Baupost Group LLC, MA) $400,000; Marcus Hiles (WRPS, IL) $400,000; Range Resources Corp., TX) $350,000; ETC Capital (MI) $275,000; Jack Taylor (Enterprise Holdings, MO) $250,000; Louis Bacon (Moore Capital Management, NY) $250,000; David Koch (Koch Industries, NY) $250,000; Master Builders of Iowa $250,000; RAI Services Company(NC) $250,000; Daniel Loeb (Third Point LLC, NY) $250,00; Rex Sinquefield (retired, MO) $250,000; among others.

In other filings,Joseph Craft’s JWC III Revocable Trust gave $500,000 to American Crossroadsa Republican-oriented super PAC. Warren Stephens (Stephens Inc, AR) gave $250,000. American Crossroads had receipts of $1.7 million in the last six months of 2013.

Harold Simmons (Contran Corp., TX) gave $200,000 to the Congressional Leadership Fund, a Republican-oriented super PAC. The PAC had receipts of $482,715 for the last six months of 2013.

Lawrence DeGeorge (venture capital, FL) gave $250,000 to Kentuckians for Strong Leadership, a Republican-oriented super PAC. The PAC raised $1.2 million in the last six months of 2013.

George Soros (Soros Funds Management, NY) gave $500,000 to American Bridge 21st Century, a Democratic super PAC. Also giving wereSusie Buell (retired, CA) $250,000; Amy Fowler (NY) $250,000; Bernard Schwartz (Loral Space Communications, NY) $250,000. The super PAC had receipts of $3.1 million in the last six months of 2013.
