Former Congressman Starts Super PAC

Pombo 174x131 Former Congressman Starts Super PAC

A former Congressman has planted a seed and started a super PAC in the central valley of California.

Former Rep. Richard Pombo, R-Calif., is the new chairman of Empower Central Valley, a new super PAC that has registered with the Federal Election Commission.  The PAC is based in Tracy, Calif. The PAC will support conservative candidates, such as Rep. Jeff Denham R-Calif., and freshman Rep. David Valadao, R-Calif.The super PAC may receive contributions of any size and make independent expenditures for and against candidates.

Pombo served in Congress from 1992 to 2006 and was chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee from 2003 to 2006. His committee handled legislation about natural resources, Indian lands and Indian gaming.  He was also on the House Agriculture Committee.

Yes, and as we’ve learned from SARAHPAC, the PAC can receive doantions from anyone, of any size, and use 85% of the ‘donations’ to fund bus wraps, mailings, speechwriters, airfare to conservative events…anything BUT helping candidates. But I look at it this way: the more money the rubes waste on these PACs, the less they have to spend later when the election matters. So spend away, GOP. Unless you dump ALEC and the Kochs, by 2014, there won’t be one voting bloc in this nation supporting you, except rich white males. And as we saw in 2012, even the Koch billions couldn’t buy the WH, and the governors they paid for aren’t very popular at the moment either.
