Numismatists Have Lobbyists Too
Posted at 11:29 a.m. on Oct. 3, 2013
Lobbyists for almost everything these days wander Capitol Hill and executive branch offices to press their issues for clients, such as numismatists.
We were reminded of this when the third quarter lobbying reported was received today from the Washington, D.C. lobbying firm of Bailey & Ehrenberg PLLC. They reported receiving less than $5,000 during the third quarter from the International Association of Professional Numismatists (IAPN).
IAPN is a trade association of small businesses that deal in historical coins. Its membership is international. IAPN members “seek a fair shake from DOS and US Customs in order to continue their long-term business of importing and exporting historical coins.”
Numismatists collect or study coins, tokens, paper money, as well as other payment media used to exchange goods.
We expect to soon see lobbying for bitcoins.
