Rubio Victory Committee Raises $1.8 Million in Third Quarter

A fundraising committee of a U.S. senator, who is not up for re-election until 2016, has raised more than $1.8 million in the third quarter of this year.
The Rubio Victory Committee, a joint fundraising committee for the campaign of Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and his leadership PAC, Reclaim America PAC, reported it had receipts of $2,121,128 and disbursements of $2,041,092 during the third quarter, leaving $366,896 cash on hand as of Sept. 30. The receipts included $300,000 advanced from his committees.
The committee raised $638,261 from contributions of $200 or less and itemized $1,106,582 from individuals giving more than $200. At the beginning of the quarter the Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate committee transferred in $120,000 and the Reclaim America PAC transferred in $180,000.
Most of the itemized donors were from California ($489,289); Texas $163,677; and Florida ($146,053). The major donors included Doug Manchester (chairman, Manchester Financial, CA) $15,000; George Sealy (chairman, Annandale Capital, TX) $10,200; Robert Arnott (CEO, Research Affiliates, CA) $10,200; Robert McNair (CEO, Houston Texans, TX) $10,000; David Goldberg (CEO, Survey Monkey, CA) $7,500; Brian Devine (chairman, Petco, CA) $5.200; among others.
The committee made large expenditures during the quarter. They spent $168,737 on rental of lists; $314,949 on postage; $312,661 for direct mail production; $193,421 on telemarketing; and $173,874 on fundraising consulting. The committee repaid $220,000 to the Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate Committee that had been advanced earlier. The committee gave $128,360 in net proceeds to the Senate committee and $187,356 to the PAC.
Contributions from PACs totaled $76,200 including $5,000 each from Cisco Systems Inc. Federal PAC and Citigroup Inc. PAC. The Edwards Wildman PAC gave $10,000, and the Bravo AG Group PAC gave $5,200.
