Ryan’s Campaign Raises $1 Million in 2nd Quarter


The campaign committee of Rep. Paul D. Ryan, R-Wis., raised more than $1 million during the second quarter of 2013, including $5,200 from Mitt Romney. This is a big jump from the $600,000 raised in the first quarter.

Ryan for Congress reported it raised $1,106,812 and spent $474,979 from April 1 to June 30. The committee now has $2,186,810 cash on hand. The committee spent $320,408 on direct-mail fundraising, $17,140 on telemarketing and $22,926 on salaries. The largest vendor was SCM Associates, which received $339,706.

Contributions from PACs jumped dramatically to $332,369. AETNA PAC contributed $10,000, and 23 other PACs gave $5,000 each, including Bank of America PAC, Citigroup Inc. PAC, Wells Fargo Employee PAC, UBS Americas Inc. PAC, Exxon Mobil Corp. PAC, Home Depot PAC, Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. PAC, Travelers Co. Inc. PAC, WellPoint WELLPAC, among others.

Individuals gave $658,032. $136,215 came from contributors in Wisconsin; $69,651 from California; $49,762 from Texas; and $44,997 from Illinois; among others. H. Fisk Johnson (chairman & CEO, S.X. Johnson & Son Inc, Wis.) $5,200; Bill Perez (investment banker, Greenhill LLC, Ill.) and Catherine Perez gave $10,400; Ed Rogers (chairman, BGR Group, D.C.) $2,600; Stephen Bechtel (chairman emeritus, The Fremont Group, Calif.) $2,600; among others.

The Ryan-Prosperity Action Fund, a joint fundraising committee, gave $113,776. Donors included Mitt Romney (not employed, former governor of Massachusetts) $5,200; Theodore Olson (attorney, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Va.) $5,200; Wesley Bush (executive, Northrop Grumman, Va.) $5,200; among others.
