John Oliver Summons ‘Lovely Trolls’ Against Net Neutrality Proposal

“If we let cable companies offer two speeds of service, they won’t be Usain Bolt and Usain Bolt on a motorbike,” John Oliver said last night on his HBO show. “They’ll be Usain Bolt and Usain bolted to an anchor.”

The host of the fledgling “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” also calls on Internet commentators to express themselves to the FCC: “We need you to get out there and for once in your lives focus your indiscriminate rage in a useful direction. Seize your moments my lovely trolls — turn on caps lock and fly my pretties!”

Oliver, a “Daily Show” alumnus, isn’t a stranger to the tech world. Earlier this year he hosted the Crunchies awards in San Francisco.

And he must have had some effect because I clicked into the FCC site and had to wait to connect. Nothing could have been more ironic than having to wait on a slow connection to the FCC, while we pay more than anyone else in the world for our internet access.
