Media Ownership, Music Licensing, Cybersecurity in the Week Ahead

It’s looking like a busy week with House hearings on media ownership and music licensing, events on cybersecurity and a meeting of the FCC.
Today, the Center for Strategic and International Studies holds an event on its joint report with McAfee on the costs of cybercrime as well as an event Tuesday on the “Safe Harbor” agreement between the E.U. and U.S.
Also today, the Atlantic Council hosts a discussion on post-Snowden cybersecurity, followed by an event Tuesday on emerging technologies and global security.
Additionally, the House is scheduled to vote on a NASA reauthorization bill today.
The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday holds a hearing on music licensing.
Gabriel Marketing Group is also holding a “Startup Spotlight” on Tuesday with Arlington-based Encore Alert.
Also on Tuesday, Georgetown University’s Center for Business and Public Policy hosts an event at the Rayburn House Office building called “The Internet and Communications Regulation: A Policy and Technology Symposium.”
A Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee on Tuesday holds a hearing on federal IT initiatives.
On Wednesday, a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee holds a hearing on media ownership.
Two House Science, Space and Technology subcommittees hold a joint hearing on reducing administrative workload for federally-funded research Thursday.
On Friday, the Federal Communications Commission holds an open commission meeting.
Also on Friday, the Advisory Committee to the Congressional Internet Caucus holds a panel on the first sale doctrine and digital content.
