Camp: Grassley Targeted By Lois Lerner at IRS

House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp said Wednesday that a former Senate Finance chairman was among those targeted for extra scrutiny by the IRS.

“We have seen a lot of unbelievable things in this investigation, but the fact that Lois Lerner attempted to initiate an apparently baseless IRS examination against a sitting Republican United States Senator is shocking,” Camp said in a statement. “At every turn, Lerner was using the IRS as a tool for political purposes in defiance of taxpayer rights.”

According to the House committee, Iowa Republican Sen. Charles E. Grassley was suggested for additional scrutiny by then-IRS official Lois Lerner.

“The fact that [the Justice Department] refuses to investigate the IRS’s abuses or appoint a special counsel demonstrates, yet again, this Administration’s unwillingness to uphold the rule of law,” Camp said.

In an email released by Camp, Lerner suggested that she had gotten a document from a group “inappropriately offering to pay for Grassley’s wife” at an event and proposed that the matter be examined. Lerner also said that she didn’t “want to be on stage with Grassley” at an event that both apparently were invited to.

Another IRS official suggests the invitation wasn’t against the law.

The committee used its statutory authority to review confidential tax information in making the discovery about Grassley. That authority allowed the review of emails related to the senator.

So, what job is Camp auditioning for? He starting to sound like Issa. Wild or distorted accusations with little or no proof.

Nixon suggested the IRS target democrats ( they never actually did it ). The was the 2nd article of impeachment,
“little or no proof” ? Bob, try being honest with yourself .
This is bad, very very bad.

As it went Nixon had people who invaded Watergate to steal the Democrat’s files. After then Nixon was impeached.

The Nixon Library and the National Archives on Wednesday are releasing the final 340 hours of the White House tapes President Nixon recorded for his own use, providing Nixon’s uncensored perspective of a tumultuous period in history.

The tapes cover the period from April 9 through July 12, 1973 – the final few months Nixon continued to record his conversations in the White House. They immediately follow the period in which Nixon admitted responsibility for Watergate.

Correct . Nixon admitted his sins and expressed regret.
          An act of honor.

Are you a complete idiot or do you just play one on TV? This bit*h wanted to investigate something that had zero merit that involved a sitting R senator. She then showed her hate by saying she wouldn’t sit on same stage. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Obviously you didn’t read the emails. The headlines and stories show once more that conservatives are the most gullible people on earth. They believe anything that is negative about the administration. The more outrageous the more they believe. Do any of you ever check stories? Obviously never. And I’m the complete idiot?

I fear the IRS and everyone I know fears the IRS!
For the IRS to target a high ranking politician is both frightening and undemocratic.
The time has come to unleash the bulldogs in the law enforcement community on those responsible and for the government to reassure the public that those responsible are being held accountable.
This is the one scandal that people across the country understand and that the folks inside the beltway will not be able to blow away with smoke and mirrors.

Senator Grassley is a gentleman of the first order. Now he is probably an angry farmer with a pitch fork. If this happened to you, would you be so sanguine?

Mr. Camp, you are shocked at Lois Lerner doing her job? I am shocked at your aide Brian Sutter is involved in the $662,000,000 Wall Street crime of insider trading, and I feel you are mis-directing attention from that, in hopes you aren’t audited to see how much of that you got. We need two Lois Lerner’s for every congressman on Capitol Hill, well-versed in financial proctology, scams and schemes our congressmen execute to get rich, ripping off the people.

Mr. Camp compared to Congress, the IRS is held in high esteem. Unlike your caucus! They aren’t in it just for their personal wealth and power; and are actually involved in helping the government function.

The way I read this is she said “hmm. Looks like skullduggery.” One of her aides said, “fuggedaboutit” What happened next?
