Democrats Ducking Vote on ‘War on Coal’ Amendment — for Now

The war over the “war on coal” has been postponed after Democrats pushed off a second fiscal 2015 spending bill in the Senate.

Late Wednesday, the Appropriations Committee decided not to move forward as scheduled with Thursday’s markup of the bill that funds the Energy Department, as well as water development projects.

The move avoids a potentially problematic vote for Senate Democrats and the Obama administration that could have stopped the Environmental Protection Agency’s bid to regulate carbon emissions from existing power plants — regulations that have the affect of targeting pollution from coal.

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., crafted an amendment on the subject that he intended to offer to the Energy-Water appropriations bill. As noted previously, the breakdown of Democratic caucus members on the committee is such that he would have had a real chance to prevail.

The move to remove the Energy-Water measure from Thursday’s agenda means it will join the Labor-HHS-Education bill in a sort of legislative purgatory, perhaps relying on eventual inclusion in a catch-all spending package later in the year.

Democrats previously decided against moving ahead with the Labor-HHS bill, despite advocacy from that subpanel’s chairman, Iowa Democrat Tom Harkin.

Carbon dioxide is not pollution. Its role in the greenhouse is not to trap heat but to speed the photosyntheic process. Pleasecorrect the third paragraph.

The Democrats are going to cause the poor and elderly to freeze to death because they cannot afford the higher bills after the RPA cap and trade regulations are implemented. All of these regulations are to give the government more controL over every aspect of our lives and to enrich the wealthy crony capitalists posing as environmentalists.

First let’s correct one thought. Carbon dioxide is building. Two reasons, fossil fuels but also because there are fewer and fewer forests and plants to process it and convert it and release oxygen into the atmosphere.
Another problem is that China and India refuse to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. Ours is just a drop in the bucket to their grievous pollution!
Third point. This War on Coal is only going on because Harry Reid and his son’s employment by Chinese solar companies. They want to install billions of dollars of solar panels in the west and southwest. One proposed site is the very land that those precious turtles live on. The land that the Bundy ranch is on. For this to happen Harry must make a shortage of electricity by shutting down all the coal plants. Then when they have created this power famine we will be forced to purchase exorbitantly expensive solar power from the Chinese. Do the math. Harry Reid cares nothing for the American people or coal powered plants. He is just lining his pockets. He needs to be run out of office on a pole. We need to stop the sale of our country to the Chinese. We will be enslaved to the Chinese if Harry has his way.

Somewhere within the paragraphs you actually managed to make me a believer but just for a short while. I nevertheless have got a problem with your leaps in logic and one might do nicely to fill in all those gaps. When you can accomplish that, I would certainly be impressed.
