Feinstein: ‘When Will Enough Be Enough’ for Congress to Act on Guns?

Dianne Feinstein

(Douglas Graham/CQ Roll Call File Photo)

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., responded to Monday’s tragedy at the Washington Navy Yard with another plea for Congress to take action against gun violence.

“This is one more event to add to the litany of massacres that occur when a deranged person or grievance killer is able to obtain multiple weapons — including a military-style assault rifle — and kill many people in a short amount of time. When will enough be enough?” asked Feinstein. “Congress must stop shirking its responsibility and resume a thoughtful debate on gun violence in this country. We must do more to stop this endless loss of life.”
The California Democrat is one of the Senate’s leading advocates for further gun control measures at the federal level, including an assault weapons ban.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller also issued a statement alluding to the broader firearms debate.

“We are becoming far too familiar with senseless, tragic violence. This is the seventh shooting since 2009, and these repeated incidents demand our attention,” the West Virginia Democrat said. “While the details are being sorted out, I hope you’ll join with Sharon and me in offering our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers to those affected by today’s horrific act of violence.”

The Senate is postponing Tuesday’s scheduled hearing on “stand your ground” laws in the aftermath of Monday’s mass shooting.

That announcement came late Monday from the office of Senate Majority Whip Richard J.Durbin. The Illinois Democrat had called the hearing before his Judiciary subcommittee.

Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, was scheduled to be the lead witness.

Again the liberal gun grabbers will try to make the case that background checks would have somehow stopped this person with no criminal history and a legal right to own a gun from obtaining the guns he had.

Instead of placing the blame where it belongs (mental illness), they are going to blame the inanimate guns.

True dat. Watched her turn in a .38 in San Francisco years ago. She was confronted by the owner of The Traders, a San Leandro gun store. Turns out she bought a PAIR of .38’s, turned in one. The other was on her rate (457 issued) SF County approved, state issued concealed carry permit. Of course, she’s special and far more valuable than us mere citizens.

This is the Democrat gun grabbing playbook in action.

Transfer the blame FROM the killer to the gun.

      From Washington Examiner at

In talking points likely followed by top Democratic leaders including
President Obama after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in
December, the anti-gun “guide” urged gun foes to speak out when a

  26. Scott Moore

Great question, Senator Feinstein. Here’s another one. When will Enough be Enough for Senators and Congressmen to learn that their self-serving little news sound bites make them sound like idiots? The emergency responders did an amazing job of isolating the shooter(s), getting people to safety, and finding and neutralizing the perpetrator(s).

Anybody can commit suicide – it’s easy to do. Some people commit “suicide by cop,” forcing the police to kill them to prevent them from further damage. But some people use automobiles, others leave a trail of blood for others to clean up. It’s a messy business, but you can’t stop someone by taking away guns – or rather making them illegal.

And people don’t wear signs that say, “I’m deranged. If found wandering around, please lock me up.”

But these realities don’t make good sound bites. So Senators and Congressmen for whom any news is good news, get their names out there, and people think they are actually doing something.

Interesting that she would use a false statement. News reports clearly stated this morning that an “assault rifle” WAS NOT used by the shooter. In fact, FBI is preparing to hold a news conference and discuss the weapons used.

The illustrious Senator is once again spouting off without knowing the facts.
