Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., responded to Monday’s tragedy at the Washington Navy Yard with another plea for Congress to take action against gun violence.

“This is one more event to add to the litany of massacres that occur when a deranged person or grievance killer is able to obtain multiple weapons — including a military-style assault rifle — and kill many people in a short amount of time. When will enough be enough?” asked Feinstein. “Congress must stop shirking its responsibility and resume a thoughtful debate on gun violence in this country. We must do more to stop this endless loss of life.”
The California Democrat is one of the Senate’s leading advocates for further gun control measures at the federal level, including an assault weapons ban.

Sen. Jay Rockefeller also issued a statement alluding to the broader firearms debate.

“We are becoming far too familiar with senseless, tragic violence. This is the seventh shooting since 2009, and these repeated incidents demand our attention,” the West Virginia Democrat said. “While the details are being sorted out, I hope you’ll join with Sharon and me in offering our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers to those affected by today’s horrific act of violence.”

The Senate is postponing Tuesday’s scheduled hearing on “stand your ground” laws in the aftermath of Monday’s mass shooting.

That announcement came late Monday from the office of Senate Majority Whip Richard J.Durbin. The Illinois Democrat had called the hearing before his Judiciary subcommittee.

Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, was scheduled to be the lead witness.

  • Walldog

When will enough be enough for the American people to kick her sorry butt out of office?

    • JIMH

Her and Boxer, two sides of the same coin…..Trust me, they do NOT represent the majority of the people that live in CA…….Their power comes from the Plantation-Dwellers in the metro areas of the State.

    • 45autofun

There are apparently not enough undamaged brain cells in California to ever have a coherent thought to get rid of this commie hag.

The Californians are almost as clueless as the geniuses in New York City that re elect the despicable Charles Schumer over and over. You just can’t fix stupid.

  • YoungConservative

Again the liberal gun grabbers will try to make the case that background checks would have somehow stopped this person with no criminal history and a legal right to own a gun from obtaining the guns he had.

Instead of placing the blame where it belongs (mental illness), they are going to blame the inanimate guns.

    • frankstclair

Actually, he was involved in two prior gun crimes but not prosecuted for either.

      • YoungConservative

Well, no guilty convictions means he is still eligible to own a gun and a background check wouldn’t have stopped anything.

  • John Van Stry

But both DC and the shipyard are gun free zones!
Also known as ‘target rich environments’.
I wish this ‘rhymes with witch’ would just drop dead already.

    • YoungConservative

You mean criminals don’t obey the law? :-O

    • frankstclair

Last time I checked, it was also illegal murder people. THAT law should stop all killings about as well as gun control laws.

  • Pocho Basura

    …..you still packin di?

    • frankstclair

True dat. Watched her turn in a .38 in San Francisco years ago. She was confronted by the owner of The Traders, a San Leandro gun store. Turns out she bought a PAIR of .38′s, turned in one. The other was on her rate (457 issued) SF County approved, state issued concealed carry permit. Of course, she’s special and far more valuable than us mere citizens.

      • Layla

        Well….she’s special….

  • Look_A_Squirrel

Right after they finish making sure that they don’t have to abide by Obamacare, finish finding out where Obama and Hillary were on 9/11/12, get to the bottom of who targeted conservative groups for IRS scrutiny, who approved and managed Fast and Furious, why the stimulus money went to cronies and not infrastructure projects, I’m sure they’ll get to it,

    • Layla

      Pretty good!

  • YoungConservative

A fact for those who think gun restrictions work:

Every mass shooting where 3 or more people have been killed since 1950, with the exception of the attack on Gabrielle Giffords, has been in a gun free zone, aka a helpless victim zone.

    • Meathead

That’s why, unless there is a metal detector involved, I completely ignore the idiotic “Gun Free Zone” signs. To me they actually read “Killing Zone” and I totally ignore them.

  • Brightmeadows

Feinstein has NO trouble sending automatic weapons to al Qada killers in Syria, does she?

  • JIMH

Oh Di…..Why can’t Government just TAKE all these bad guns away from people? So, only the Government and Criminals would have guns….Yeah, that’s a winner…… Do you EVER come down out of that Ivory Tower you and the ruling class inhabit? Disarm Citizens?…..So we can be pushed around by Government and made into sheep for the Criminals? No thanks. You do what you want and I’ll do the same, I don’t need Government telling me I can’t protect my family or my life.

    • Meathead

Di, please, please come up my sidewalk to take mine. Oh, please, please attempt to do so. It would be your last act on this earth!

  • Cecelia Henderson

What is the big damn hurry? Can’t the victims be identified, the families be notified and the facts be determined before Feinstein gets on her broom stick and starts screaming about guns? Diane, you are a scab on society. Please shut up and have the decency to allow Americans to grieve before you try to get in front of the camera? You are a worthless maggot and you will get what you deserve someday.

    • j Ray

This is the Democrat gun grabbing playbook in action.

Transfer the blame FROM the killer to the gun.

      From Washington Examiner at http://washingtonexaminer.com/

“Newly uncovered Democratic anti-NRA talking points urge anti-gun
advocates and politicians to hype high-profile gun incidents like the
Florida slaying of Trayvon Martin to win support for new gun control
      laws.

In talking points likely followed by top Democratic leaders including
President Obama after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in
December, the anti-gun “guide” urged gun foes to speak out when a
shooting “creates a unique climate” to shout down the National Rifle
      Association.

“The most powerful time to communicate is when concern and emotions
are running at their peak,” said the 80-page document titled “Preventing
Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging,” and produced by three
Democratic firms led by the polling and research outfit Greenberg
      Quinlan Rosner Research.”

They will be wading knee deep in the blood and waving the bloody flag.

    • 3billy123

I’ve been following the gun debate for forty years and this is nothing new. They almost pray for these things to happen and pounce before the victims are even cold.

      • doodledandy

I’m not completely sure they don’t PAY for some of these situations to happen. I know they’ve pay for other disruptions around the country, so it’s not a big leap for me to think they are involved. I wouldn’t put it past them in other words.

  • Ruckus_Tom

Pretty simple. When your body guards stop carrying handguns.

  • notanobamaliar

Diane Feinstein and Michael Bloomberg are protected by bodyguards so they don’t have to be exposed to potential killers and madmen like the rest of us poor working slobs do. Ruling class elites are always lightning fast in their response to exploit a tragedy to advance their political agenda which will only apply to rest of us instead of themselves. I am not willing to entrust the safety of myself or my family to some blathering idiot politician who could care less about me than they care about a gnat buzzing around their arrogant little heads. Diarrhea of the Mouth Diane just needs to just zip her lips and give the Constitution and us a rest from her constant verbal assaults.

  • Dr_Albert_Gortenbull

Agreed. Congress must act! Congress must allow law-abiding American military personnel the right to carry concealed weapons on American military bases. Albert

  • j Ray

    “When will enough be enough?”

When Hell freezes over, you God damned gun grabbing b*tch!

  • j Ray

Understand the Democratic Party gun control playbook is in play now. Transfer the blame FROM the killer to the gun.

    From Washington Examiner at http://washingtonexaminer.com/

  • Government handouts = slavery

Didn’t 2 gun grabbers just get recalled in Colorado? Seems like we need more recalls.

    • Meathead

Yeah, baby! Start recalling all the Oath Breakers who believe that they can pick and choose what part(s) of the Constitution they can “support and protect” instead of the whole Constitution.

    • Layla

Coming in November, 2014; hopefully the ENTIRE CONGRESS. It’s time to send a message they will listen to.

  • offset81

Why didn’t the left start crying for gun control after Kennedy and King.

    • j Ray

Actually, they did. The Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed after the
assassinations of Robert Kennedy and MLK. The act was lifted and
translated from the N*zi Era gun control laws by Sen,. Thomas Dodd,
      father of Sen. Chris Dodd.

      • Meathead

Ahh, good ole highly corrupt Chris Dodd. What a POS!!

    • frankstclair

You must be young. The Kennedys and King kicked off the modern era of gun control. Prior, I purchased a Colt revolver from a Western Auto catalogue.

      • Meathead

In 1964, I bought a rifle from a magazine. It was shipped right to my door WITHOUT any government restrictions or involvement. That was FREEDOM, folks, not the imitation that we have today. Nothing is so sad as a slave who believes that they are free.

  • Mary Brown

Feinstein is a traitor and needs to be removed from office for attacking the constitution

She i also a hypocrite with armed guards and she has a conceal carry permit and owns a pistol.

  • Meathead

Enough will be enough when this POS is six-feet under.
Why is she so stupid that she cannot understand her oath of office to “support and protect” the Constitution? Either she is totally stupid or totally corrupt. Probably the latter.

    • YoungConservative

I don’t know. I think there’s some brain rotting chemical in the water over there in California.

  • Donna Mohler

She’s just another STOOGE that wants US unarmed so their “friends” can do as they want!

  • j Ray

Whenever a gun grabbing stooge like Feinstein says we need a “debate” on gun control, it starts and ends with the premise that (1) gun owners are evil, (2) guns must be banned, before we can have that “debate.”

This is how the Democrats transfer responsibility for the crime from the criminal to the gun and by extension ALL gun owners.

  • j Ray

NBC News DC is reporting that Alexis used a shotgun he bought recently bought. He used that shotgun to kill a security guard and take is AR15 and handgun and ammo.

His access to “multiple weapons” consisted of killing a government employee and taking his guns. MILITARY GUNS.

It’s time that someone puts ideologues like Feinstein in prison for treason against the Constitution.

    • YoungConservative

A liberal opening their mouth before knowing any of the facts? Nothing new there.

      • Layla

Hey, you’re talking about the woman who totally supports NSA spying on Americans, along with many in the GOP.

        • YoungConservative

Your point? The NSA issue does not fall along party lines. It has bi-partisan support and bi-partisan opposition. It’s wrong, but it’s one of the few non-partisan issues.

  • ConradCA

The real problem is that this turd was released from prison after committing lots of crimes. He never should have been let out.

    • frankstclair

Don’t think he was ever in, man.

      • ConradCA

Your right and that is part of the problem. He was never prosecuted for firing at someone’s car. They should have taken his right to own firearms away after that.

        • frankstclair

Or shooting out a neighbors tires. But hey, too much trouble to prosecute. And a security clearance with a history of serious mental illness and two criminal acts with guns. Interesting.

  • twomilehill

LET EVERYONE HAVE A GUN, MEET AT HIGH NOON, THE MAJORITY LEFT ALIVE, DECIDE WHICH IS BEST FOR THE REST !!!!

  • tncem

    Di, C U next Tuesday.

  • dwpittelli

Because the same system that gave him a “secret” clearance would have kept him away from firearms, if only Feinstein were in charge of writing the law?

Because, like virtually every mass shooting, this one was done in a “gun free zone” where people could not defend themselves, we must make sure there are more “gun free zones”?

  • Scott Moore

Great question, Senator Feinstein. Here’s another one. When will Enough be Enough for Senators and Congressmen to learn that their self-serving little news sound bites make them sound like idiots? The emergency responders did an amazing job of isolating the shooter(s), getting people to safety, and finding and neutralizing the perpetrator(s).

Anybody can commit suicide – it’s easy to do. Some people commit “suicide by cop,” forcing the police to kill them to prevent them from further damage. But some people use automobiles, others leave a trail of blood for others to clean up. It’s a messy business, but you can’t stop someone by taking away guns – or rather making them illegal.

And people don’t wear signs that say, “I’m deranged. If found wandering around, please lock me up.”

But these realities don’t make good sound bites. So Senators and Congressmen for whom any news is good news, get their names out there, and people think they are actually doing something.

  • Layla

When will the Democrat Congressional delegation stop trying to do away with our rights under the Constitution and when will the GOP stand up for our rights? Time to vote you ALL OUT, November, 2014. NONE of you represent the American people.

  • kf6zpl

“This is one more event to add to the litany of massacres that occur
when a deranged person or grievance killer is able to obtain multiple
weapons — including a military-style assault rifle — and kill many
people in a short amount of time. When will enough be enough?” asked
    Feinstein.

Interesting that she would use a false statement. News reports clearly stated this morning that an “assault rifle” WAS NOT used by the shooter. In fact, FBI is preparing to hold a news conference and discuss the weapons used.

The illustrious Senator is once again spouting off without knowing the facts.

  • Grizzld

Feistein is a left wing crackpot and needs to retire if the voters don’t vote her out of office first. She has no more respect for the Constitution than she does voters!
Just say NO to democrats in the 2014 elections.
