McConnell Won’t Filibuster House-Passed CR

Rejecting Sen. Ted Cruz’s strategy, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell won’t support a filibuster of the House-passed continuing resolution that defunds Obamacare, since he supports that bill itself.

“Sen. McConnell supports the House Republicans’ bill and will not vote to block it, since it defunds Obamacare and funds the government without increasing spending by a penny. He will also vote against any amendment that attempts to add Obamacare funding back into the House Republicans’ bill,” said Don Stewart, spokesman for McConnell, R-Ky. “If and when the Majority Leader goes down that path, Washington Democrats will have to decide — without hiding behind a procedural vote — whether or not to split with their leadership and join Republicans and their constituents in opposing the re-insertion of Obamacare funding into the House-passed bill.”

In effect, McConnell is dismissing the tactic advocated by Cruz. The Texas Republican is pushing for Republicans to filibuster the House-passed stopgap spending bill that they actually support, trying to force Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to agree to an unusual demand that a germane amendment (to strike out defunding for Obamacare) be subject to a supermajority vote threshold.

With the exception of Lee and Paul, Tedious Ted of the North’s act is being enthusiastically panned by all his GOP House and Senate colleagues. They relish the opportunity to kick the skates out from under Tedious Ted of the North and watch his face smash on the ice. His preening, mirror hugging, scenery chewing, ankle biting peacock who takes credit for the sunrise act has in 9 short months made him the single most despised of all 535 members of Congress. Ted’s a uniter!

Wimps all of you! If you were really the peoples representatives and senators, you would have stopped Obamacare. Now we have to ask, : what are you getting out of this, besides your exemption from it?

Hey all are you not tired of the spineless and in bed with obama and ready to break away and start a third party called conservatives and become a national party. The rhino republicans will never change so we need to walk away and start our own party because i am sick and tired of rhinos not having the guts to fight for principles. The democrats make the republicans look like a lot of 2 years.

To freedom’s detriment, the false definition of liberty, as the power of centralized government to do specific things, has become widely accepted within self-proclaimed progressive circles.
