Prince Harry Visits the #WGDB
Posted at 6:24 p.m. on May 9, 2013
Britain’s Prince Harry had no shortage of gawking onlookers for his trip through the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building to look at an exhibit on land mines, on a day in which Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., served as tour guide for the prince.
Aides, journalists and others hustled from their perches to see the visitor, with “Prince Harry” surpassing “#benghazi” in trending topics on Twitter in Washington on Thursday afternoon.
Staffers and other visitors tried to find space on stairwells and corridors to get a glimpse of the British royal as he passed through the building on one of his first stops on a weeklong visit to the United States.
The photo exhibition is being put on by the HALO Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to destroying and disabling unexploded ordinances. The prince has supported the effort, as did his late mother, Princess Diana.
For staffers that missed the appearance, CQ Roll Call’s own Douglas Graham and Tom Williams mingled with the swooning masses, and there are more photos after the jump:
