Senate Kills More House Obamacare Amendments in CR Ping-Pong

Senate Democrats are sticking to their guns, turning back another proposed House amendment to their stopgap spending measure.

Less than an hour after the House voted and fewer than three hours from a probable midnight government shutdown, the message from the Democrats remained the same: Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, must allow a “clean” continuing resolution to receive a vote on the House floor.

The Senate tabled, and thus killed, the latest offering, 54-46, on a largely party-line vote.

The newest House proposal would delay implementation of the individual mandate under the 2010 health care overhaul and block employer contributions to health insurance on the new Obamacare exchanges. But Democrats have repeatedly said they will not agree to any efforts to undermine the president’s signature legislative achievement, particularly when exchanges created by the law are scheduled to open Tuesday.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., appeared on the Senate floor just after the House gavel banged on the 228-201 vote, criticizing the latest House vote. He took particular aim at a provision that’s come to be named for GOP Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, calling it “mean-spirited.”

“The House once again has attached ridiculous policy riders that are dead on arrival over here. I’ve heard this story before, in fact just six hours ago,” Reid said in reference to the Senate vote shortly after 2 p.m. today.

Democratic speakers in the last hour included Senate Budget Chairwoman Patty Murray of Washington and Appropriations Chairwoman Barbara A. Mikulski of Maryland.

“Unfortunately … it seems that House Republicans haven’t had quite enough yet. They seem to think this is a game — that whoever is left holding the hot potato will be held responsible. But let me be very clear: The American people are smarter than that,” Murray said. “So I would like to call on Speaker Boehner to take one simple step. I ask that he allow a vote on the Senate’s clean continuing resolution.”

The democrats own the shutdown! The amended CR by the house was a true compromise, that gave Obama his going-to-fail healthcare system with a few modifications, plus gave the federal workers a show that they were willing to make personal sacrifices.

Essentially the house republicans said, if the federal government was going to force ObamaCare on the masses, then the government will be effected as well.

The only people in the federal government who is still unaffected by the draconian healthcare act are the federal workers who will be forcing this down our throats..

Mr Obama and the Democrats are the problem since Obamacare was not a bi partisan legislation. there are some good provisions in Obamacare, but at this stage with a high percentage of people against it, it is better for the Dems to say, to hell with Obamacare, throw it out and start over with bi partisan legislation in order to avoid a govt shutdown.

Sen Reid is wrong twice in his statement. A majority of Americans know that the Senate is the group that just can’t pass a budget in over 4 years. They know that the Senate is the group that is making no compromise, and is clinging to Obamacare as though it is a prized possession that they cannot let go of no matter how much suffering it brings to the American people. Thinking Americans will fault the Democrats in the Senate for a “shurt down”. It really is a partial shut down. This time they cannot hide behind anything. There will probably always be the 25 – 30% that are gullible and/ or lieberal and believe what the mainstream media spoon feeds them. So they will believe Reids suggestion- it’s the Republican’s fault! But the majority of the citizens are getting more informed and they hate Obamacare. They will NOT fault the Republicans.
Next, Reid calls the CR HE likes a “clean” CR. That is ridiculous! If it includes any taxpayer money for Obamcare funding when Obama unlawfully changed the rules on Obamacare 5 times so far, then it is not clean at all! It is a dirty slimy repulsive piece of legislation. Far from clean. Let’s keep the CR clean by keeping IN the delay (at the least) of Obamacare until 2014. After all, the big companies get a break until 2014 -what is so fair or clean about that? Let’s clean up Obama’s healthcare mess by not giving one dollar to it. If the Senate is going to arrogantly say “my way or the highway”, the citizens are watching. And they know a spoiled brat when they see one. The Democrats think the citizens are stupid and most of us are not! The House MUST NOT give the spoiled brats their way.

Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people consider worries that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
