Senate Panel May ‘Pounce’ on New Jersey Bridge Mess

The Senate Commerce Committee is “ready to pounce” on the controversy surrounding September lane closures on the New Jersey end of the George Washington Bridge.

That’s what Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., said of himself and the Commerce Committee’s investigative staff. Rockefeller also said there “might be” Senate hearings into the matter, which has embroiled New Jersey GOP Gov. Chris Christie, depending on how things go.

Asked if the committee might take a broader look at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the bridge, Rockefeller replied: “That’s a question too far right now, because the feds are all over it right now.”

“I mean, this guy in the New Jersey legislature is unbelievable,” he added, praising the work so far of Assemblyman John S. Wisniewski. The Middlesex Democrat serves as chairman of the Transportation Committee and “he’s going to be the head of the investigation in the legislature,” Rockefeller noted.

He added that he has not yet heard back from the Port Authority in response to questions that are supposed to receive a response by Wednesday.

Rockerfeller should worry about his own backyard than a stupid lane closure. Thousands of West Virginians are without drinking water for days and this senator is only concerned about lane closures in NJ??

Since we tend to hear about scientific advances, we tend to remember intellectual freedom while forgetting about the freedom to do things.

Currently it seems like Movable Type is the best blogging platform out there right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?
