Senate Torpedoes House’s Latest Obamacare Delay (Updated)

Updated 4:05 p.m. | The Senate voted to table House amendments intended to delay Obamacare and repeal a medical device tax.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., wasted no time when the Senate came in Monday at 2 p.m. He made the motion, which cannot be filibustered, without any debate.

The amendments were on a House-passed bill to keep the government funded past Tuesday. If the House and Senate do not act before midnight tonight to fund government agencies, the government will shut down.

The vote occurred largely along party lines, 54-46.

The Senate also approved by unanimous consent a bill that would continue to pay American military personnel in the event of a shutdown. On Sunday, the House unanimously passed the legislation, which would apply to active-duty servicemen as well as some civilian and Department of Defense contractors, so the bill now goes to President Barack Obama’s desk.

At a press conference following the vote, Senate Democratic leaders continued to insist they would not take up any stopgap spending measure that includes policy riders.

“The best analogy I can think of — let’s say Nancy Pelosi, during the [2008 Wall Street bailout] debate, when the world economy was teetering on the edge of a cliff, and George Bush was president and needed the vote, said she wouldn’t pass TARP unless Republicans rolled back all the Bush tax cuts,” said Senate Democratic Conference Vice Chairman Charles E. Schumer.

The New York Democrat continued, “What they’re asking is the No. 1 priority of the first Obama administration, just like the Bush tax cuts were of their administration. So it would be like a group of members, if we gave into this, next, what about a group of rural members saying we’re going to shut down the government unless we get the farm bill just as we like? What, what about a group of civil libertarians saying we’ll shut down the government unless NSA stops the metadata program? It could go on and on. It would be absurd, and it would be unprecedented.”

Totally along party lines. I do the same thing as Emily, I tend to forget about the Republican Senator from New Jersey.

These smarmy modern day Democrats, Obama, Reid, Schumer and Durbin are the mimics of that first bastard Democrat, Andrew Jackson. Jackson, with a congressional majority simply vetoed any and all legislation with which he disagreed, No discussion, no negotiation, no compromise. Jackson was the originator of the “Spoils” system that every Democratic administration since has emulated. History reveals that the “Spoils” system, “Pay to Play” and variations on these themes have been Democratic Party practice since then. Woodrow Wilson whose mistress sued him for $40,000 he was unable to pay. Samuel Untermeyer, a partner in the largest law firm in New York City, did a favor, “Bribed” Wilson and paid the $40,000 for which Wilson agreed to appoint Louis Brandeis to the Supreme Court. A real bargain right? Hell no! Brandeis was an ardent Zionist looking to obtain Palestine as a permanent home for the world’s displaced Jews. In order to accomplish this, Brandeis had to get America into World War I to help Britain and her allies defeat Germany and her allies. Brandeis lied to Wilson who failed to investigate the lie, ” Mr. President, the Germans have sunk the SS Sussex in the English Channel with the loss of many American lives. You have a very good reason to declare War on Germany.” With out checking the facts, Wilson went before Congress and asked for a declaration of War. Congress without checking the facts, complied. America helped the Jews to obtain a permanent homeland but lost 116,000 of our finest. We owe the Income Tax to Wilson as well as the Federal Reserve. FDR was no better; he was corrupt, deceptive and a philandering husband as was JFK. LBJ was guilty of “Stolen Valor” when he received a Silver Star for his “Valor” in combat. The trouble is, Johnson never saw any combat, the plane in which he was flying over New Guinea to obtain photos of enemy strong points, developed engine trouble an was forced to return to Australia. No combat, no enemy to face, just another John Kerry and another BS story. Up until today, the worst Democratic President was Jimmy Carter, a phony through and through. That leave us with BHO a lying, arrogant, narcissistic phony.

Have you had enough of Democrats? The Republicans have had their share of corrupt, conniving, liars also. Does Richard Nixon ring a bell? Brilliant but totally dishonest.

Tax cuts help the economy. Tax increases hurt the economy. If Pelosi wanted to raise taxes at the edge of a recession that would have caused the recession.
