Carney: ‘A Shame’ Unemployment Extension Is Going Nowhere (Video)

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday it’s “a shame” that House Republicans haven’t passed an unemployment extension — and suggested they should act without requiring something in return.

“It is our view that these are benefits that ought to be extended to Americans — to millions of Americans who need them,” Carney said. “We do not view it as a cynical horse-trading exercise to achieve some ideological objective.”

Carney was asked by CQ Roll Call at Wednesday’s briefing about Speaker John A. Boehner’s unrequited demand — repeated often — that the White House and the president make a new offer on jobs legislation before the speaker will consider an unemployment extension.

Boehner spokesman Michael Steel responded to Carney’s comment Wednesday in an email.

“Measures to create more private-sector jobs — like the dozens of House-passed jobs bills awaiting action in the Democrat-controlled Senate — are not ‘cynical,’” Steel said. “They are a serious effort to address the American people’s number-one concern.”

Carney was also asked about the unemployment extension appearing to be a dead issue in the House. It’s been nearly five months since the benefits expired and a five-month Senate-passed extension is going nowhere.

“We continue to call on Congress to provide emergency benefits to Americans who are looking for work, much as they did repeatedly at earlier stages of the recovery and during the previous administration,” Carney said. ”You know, it’s a shame, because these are folks who are out there looking for work and need assistance to pay their rent and to feed their families. And I think any economist can verify that that assistance has a direct and positive benefit to the economy and immediate benefit to the economy, because that unemployment assistance — unemployment insurance is assistance that immediately gets funneled back into the economy and helps create jobs and drive growth.”

Asked why the president hasn’t taken his own advice to his supporters and picked up the phone and called Boehner to ask him what it would take to get that bill on the floor, Carney deflected.

“I think it’s a novel supposition that Speaker Boehner would suddenly embrace the idea of extended unemployment insurance if the president would just call him and ask for it,” Carney said.

Some lawmakers are still scrambling to find a way to revive the unemployment benefits, but they have not yet settled on a strategy to do so.

Talk about stubborn Boehner is horrible but Obama not picking up the phone is just as bad. The president, House, and Senate need to actually do something instead of collecting a paycheck. So many bills sitting around with no action being taken. So glad you elected officials don’t ever have to worry about being unemployed getting no money. I want to work but try getting a job with no money its hard as hell.

    • Ashleigh Smith

He need to add the job provisions that Boehner and Republicans want so this mess can get passed. This bill probably would have been passed if Democrats would have just attached what they wanted enough to get it passed. Democrats need to understand whether they like it or not, they have work with Republicans to get this bill passed. It’s really no getting around it. They’ve allowed Republicans to take back the house, so now you have to go through them to get anything done.

      • Ralph

Don’t fool yourself the Republicans don’t care and they don’t want it to pass that why John Boehner will not bring it to the floor ,if it went to the floor it would pass .

        • Ashleigh Smith

Any and every way it can get passed is all I’m saying. It’s too many people out here suffering because of this bill not getting passed. We will see come November about Boehners position as House Speaker. Hopefully, the Democrats can take back control of the House. Even though I heard that’s unlikely to happen.

          • Ralph

You will see the Republicans loose in Nov. and you right it will coat them the house for not passing the bill.

        • greg huggins

YOUR THE FOOL !!!! WITH JOB BILLS ATTATCHED IT WOULD HAVE FLOWN THROUGH BUT DEMS DID NOT WANT TO SO THEY CAN TRY TO BLAME REPUBS!!! OPEN YOUR EYES !!!!!!

          • Ralph

The Republicans tea party will look for any reason not to the bill ,if they want too they could amend it , open your eyes foolish one.

          • Ernest

I see where your coming from. But this have become a partisan standoff while millions are in dire need of assistance. Putting the unemployment extension vote on the floor is democracy in play. It’s not even a done result. Republicans can still vote it out. Why should one man hold the fate of millions of Americans? Because Republicans want to have the Keystone project be passed first? I think keystone is great but why use it to hold millions of Americans to let their financial lifeline to run out

        • Felecia Warner

John Boehner is the Anti-Christ, straight devil. Because if he was a christian that bill would have passed long ago.

The proposed jobs bill were not job bills at all. The Keystone pipeline bill is a pseudo jobs bill that will create less than 100 permanent jobs and a good number of the temporary jobs will be consumed by illegal immigrants as they are often hired for labor construction projects. The oil that will be refined will be for foreign consumption. The other proposed “Jobs” bill sought to remove the medical device tax which currently funds Obamacare.

“I think it’s a novel supposition that Speaker Boehner would suddenly
embrace the idea of extended unemployment insurance if the president
would just call him and ask for it,” Carney said.
Well yeah it should make a difference

    Guess Boehner is,sure seems it
Nobody is putting a stop to his madness
Everyone can put a stop to it come November

  • Glen Sookiazian

the answer to the claim Carney gave in this article that Rep would not simply change their mind by president calling would be “AT LEAST HE COULD TRY”….. this is all under the scene political deal making between both parties to sacrifice this for other agendas they have. HEY Mr president. stop sending emails begging for campain donation. This EX-Democrat is “NOT “any longer. peddle the 40$ u need some where else. Mad as hell here. 6 months of making 3 milion people hostage for ignorant games they play. In January they had to say no more and let people find a way to deal with their lives instead of keeping their hopes up for 5 straight months…..

  • Larry king

Boehner, how do you think that what you are doing is for the good of the people? What you are doing is not doing this country or the people any good at all. You should be arrested, thrown in jail, and have everything taken away from you. That is what you really deserve. Then you may realize what you are doing to people.

  • http://americansforpetraeus2012.org JohnnyAngel Advocacy Group

Unless people just roll up and die,all peoplewill survive either by working or welfare. This is no reason to extend uneloyment insurance as one year is already too much. It used to be 26 weeks and if I remember correctly, another 13 week extension. Now it goes on and on and on. Detrimental completely. People got to stop wimping out and get to work or go on welfare.

    • Concerned

There is no welfare if you’re single and have no children so that doesn’t apply to all. You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about because it is now just 26 weeks (at least in California) since all the tiers of federal extensions have been cut off. It just upsets me seeing someone like you making such inaccurate comments and having not one ounce of empathy. I feel sorry for you.

      • NYRBeezer™

What? There is welfare in NJ and most if not all of the states if you are single and have no kids. The only stipulation ( in NJ) is you have to check in with them every week about your progress. You are the one who knows nothing.

        • jack

damn, didnt know it was that easy..I am gonna go get on welfare

        • Concerned
        • donna

General assistance in California $210 a month for three months. Since I provide housing for the homeless, I can tell you that the only way an AMERICAN CITIZEN can survive on this amount is if they live in a tent. But clearly some of you consider that adequate housing.

Another fun fact… did you know that congress considers Social Security and Medicare WELFARE. Somewhere down the road, you TOO will depend on welfare and may your god bless you when your time comes.

    • Ralph

If we did have so may illegals we would have more jobs opening, this is one reason why there is not enough job in the USA also because most jobs are going over sea, we don’t produce anything here like we use too.

    • donna

It is still 26 weeks. Congress must approve ANY extension longer than 26 weeks. As things currently stand, if you don’t find a job in six months you are screwed. If you are over 40, good luck with that.

  • disqus_6ixPfYnVUK

If you all lost your jobs after you have worked your whole life and you couldn’t find another one how would that make you feel it is depressing but if I never worked aday in my life I couldsure get help from the goverment then all we need is a extension I am not asking for you to take care of mefor the rest of my life and hopefully soon I can get a job I actually like working and gettingout around people and feelinggoodabputmyself

  • Ashleigh Smith

Just add the stupid job provisions to the bill so this mess can get passed for goodness sake. This is ridiculous. Would it hurt to just pick up the phone and call him?. I mean hey, you might be surprised it might actually make a difference. Anything is better than nothing at this point.

    • donna

The “jobs bill” creates jobs in Colombia, Panama, and South Korea, NOT America. It also includes billions of dollars in tax cuts, which so far has not resulted in ONE new job in America, but India and China recieved hundred of thousands of jobs with taxpayer dollars. “Jobs bill” is code for corporate welfare. The only ones who wants jobs in America are Americans. Politicians want contributions and corporations want profits. Americans are an inconvenience the wealthy tolerate in exchange for our bi-annual vote, so that they can pretend to adhere to the constitution. They view any benefits we receive as a reduction of the subsidies available for them.

  • DJMiles
  • Manyell

I really think Obama don’t care because he can put food on the table for his family keep a roof over his family head so that’s why he’s not picking up the phone to call Boehner regarding the unemployment extension.

    • Kim M.

I too am VERY disappointed in our President. It’s my opinion that our leaders are allowing their pride to get in the way of serving the very people who put them in office. What a shame that is! But I will say that the Bible is true to its word. Proverbs 16:18, Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

In time they will have no other choice but to face the facts and it will be at a cost.

My faith is not in this Government but in God alone.

Yes I have given up on him too. I do not even pray for him amd his family anymore. I believe he is just as guilty as Bone Head. Im sure they have meetings every morning to come up with a way to not retro us.I know it his last term that should be more of reason he should sign it is not like he can run again and he has money to feed his family. I cannot wait until his term is up.

        • Kim M.

          My sister I don’t want you to miss out on your blessing by reacting out of your true character. Continue pray as you have before. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

I’m taking this time to exercise my faith and belief in God and his word. Man will fail us but God will never leave us or forsake us. I ask him to sustain me (us) through these troubled times. He may not be here in the flesh but his spirit lives on.

Matthew 14:13-21, Jesus fed 5,000 with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

Matthew 6:26, Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Psalms 55:22, Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Philippians 4:6, Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

  • berfa

I’m missing something how does this boil down to Boehner having last say?

    • Ashleigh Smith

The Senate voted on April 7th to restore unemployment benefits, the bill was then sent to the House for a vote there. In order for a bill to pass it has to pass both the Senate and the House. Boehner is currently the House Speaker. He gets to say whether or not a bill can go to the floor for a vote. So yes, he gets the final say whether or not it can be voted for. Unfortunately that’s how it works.

      • berfa

        :~>

  • Doreen Inesti Allam

I for one believe that Obama should have never Been chosen for a second
term. Big mistake, what has he really done for the people. I don’t think
he even cares about the people of this country, it’s all a fa-sad just
to make himself look good. Thank God he can’t run again. Who Knows maybe
Boehner will not change his mind if President Obama calls, but at least
if he does it wont be for lack of trying. I personally am fortunate and
do not need unemployment, But many do. The economy is bad no jobs, but
definitely a need.why would one think that welfare is the answer, these
are not people looking for a free hand out so they can sit on their a**.
These are people who worked hard and are about to loose everything they
worked so hard for. Maybe Boehner should be stripped of his LUXURIOUS
LIFE STYLE, MADE TO LIVE IN A CORRODED BUILDING ON A AIRBED AND NO
FINANCES TO SURVIVE I BET THEN HE WOULD BECOME THE ROAD RUNNER AND SIGN
    THE BILL.

    • Ashleigh Smith

And these people (I included) who receive unemployment also have had jobs before which suggest they have paid taxes into the system. How soon the government forgets. They’ve helped the country by paying taxes, and now that these people need help in return they can’t get it.

I see alot of people saying to call Boehner’, call Reed and tell them to extend the unemployment package. Do you really think you can pressure them by doing this? No! You Can’t!

If you want to pressure them you have to contact the senators and congress people within the state you live in!

If you try to pressure senators and congress people in states you do not live in, they will just laugh at you and call you childish and continue to do what they are doing.

You have to pressure the senators and congress people within the states you live in. That’s when they start to worry because they know you can either vote them in or vote them out.

Boehner’ is from Ohio and could care less what you have to say unless you are from Ohio. I hope this makes sense to all of you. Boehner’ pretty much tells the President and secretary of labor where to go because he knows you can’t pressure him into anything when you write, email, or phone his office and you live out of his state.

You have to pressure the senators within you own state to put pressure on him. If you do this, he will listen as the senators and congress people within your state will listen to you.

So call, email, write, post on the sites for the senators and congress people within the state you live in and they Will Put Pressure On Boehner’ and Reed as they will then know you know how make politics work for you and want to keep their cushy jobs!

If you do this this week, next week Boehner’ and Reed will then know that you know how to play the game and maybe he’ll do the right thing. But you have to play by their rules.

  • DJMiles

It wouldn’t be as bad if Obama would just tell the unemployed that they are just part of a strategy to deter Republican voters from voting this November. …Democrats acknowledge that their not going to gain any votes by forcing Republicans to oppose pocket book issues since none will be passed but since Republican voter turn out during mid terms far exceed Democrats I guess it’s not a bad strategy….

  • Millie Stevens

I have called Speaker Boehner phone line (1-202-225-0600) daily for the last several weeks, now they don’t take my calls, they send my calls to voice mail. I have been requesting that Speaker Boehner to please bring the unemployment extension to the floor for a vote. I waited over 35 mins. to be sent to voice mail. I take great offense to my family and our situation being used in a political pissing match. We will survive and we will remember in November.

  • Advocate

The participation rate is pitiful and since millions stopped looking for work the unemployment rate dropped. This is NOT a good sign. When the long-term unemployed do not have funds to pursue employment they stop looking. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see this is a problem.

Contact John Boehner and have him move the extended unemployment bill forward.

    John Boehner:
    Phone: (202) 225-0600

Now most of the Congress is in favor of the bill because more 200 000 Veterans are without income. More Republicans are not opposed anymore and only John Boehner block the bill to go to the Congress and avoid a Debate. It seems if the Bill is presented perhaps it will pass.
It is Unlawful, corrupt, not right that 1 man John Boehner stops the bill to enter the Congress for the Debate. It seems he is the only one. The others Republicans
are not opposed of the Debate even though they don’t agree.
Can something can be done to present the Bill in the Congress, against
John Boehner? 1 Man stops it ! Does he has the right to do if the others
    Republicans are not opposed?
I understand the Congress votes but is 1 person John Boehner can block it
to be presented? If yes it’s not right, the system is corrupted.
Everybody is scared of John Boehner BUT there are almost 3 millions of
unemployed people involved (who most of them don’t know anybody to help them to get a job, you need to know somebody to get a job these days, you don’t know anybody: no job). That’s the big issue that unemployed people have: connection, Networking). It’s not their fault if they are unemployed.

  • Cynthia

At this point, I have lost faith in all of the politicians to pass the emergency unemployment extension…..especially whenever our country gives lots of aid to foreign countries and doesn’t take care of their own. We vote for these elected officials and we get no help from them. They are all rich and don’t know what it’s like not to have a job and keep scrapping by….no fault of our own either. The economy continues to get worse and harder for us to find work. I have worked since I was 16 and except from being off giving birth to my 3 kids and now I am 60 and have been divorce for 24 years and raised my kids alone. I am not complaining that I had to do that, but I am upset because I lost my job February, 2013 and can’t find another job. It seems no one wants to hire a 60 year old, but with an education and years of experience, go figure! The emergency unemployment helped me out with all of my bills and to get by with food. I know there are worse off people than me, but it’s not right as that extension should have been passed and like I said, doesn’t look like it will. I pray to God that I am wrong.

In response to the president this is what i got when i wrote him

Thank you for writing, and for your service and sacrifice. Even though our economy is getting stronger, there are still too many Americans who are looking for work—often for months at a time, and often through no fault of their own. I appreciate that you took the time to share your story with me.

I know how hard it is right now for people who are trying to get their lives back on track after losing a job. In the reports I get and the emails I read, I see folks struggling with painful everyday realities—including the cruel Catch-22 that the longer you are unemployed, the more unemployable you may seem.

For many, things have been even harder since Congress failed to extend emergency unemployment insurance last year. That was a vital economic lifeline for more than a million Americans. And I know that for families who depended on it, losing unemployment insurance meant putting less fuel in the car, or less food on the table.

That’s unacceptable to me. I will keep fighting to make sure Congress restores emergency unemployment insurance right away. But I also know when you’re out of a job, every passing day means the difference between falling further behind or getting ahead. That is why I am taking action, right now, on my own, to help more Americans get back to work.

Already, hundreds of employers nationwide are adopting more inclusive hiring policies that give the long-term unemployed a fair shot. I am pushing for more businesses to do the same, and I am making sure the Federal Government leads by example. We are also launching an across-the-board reform of all our job training programs to advance a single mission: train Americans with the skills employers need, and then match them to the good jobs that need to be filled right now.

More than anything, I want you to know I will not stop attacking this problem until it is fixed. America’s unemployed deserve their chance to earn a piece of the American dream the same as anyone else—and I won’t let up until they do.

Thank you, again, for writing. Anyone can get help finding a job or job training at JobCenter.USA.gov, http://www.Opportunity.gov, andwww.CareerOneStop.org. To find an employment center near you, visitwww.DOL.gov/DOL/Location.htm. For help with health benefits, housing assistance, or other public resources, call 1-800-FED-INFO or visitwww.USA.gov.

    John
Boehner had admitted that congressional bribery has been going on for a long
time. When the House minority leader was questioned about taking bribes from
tobacco lobbyists in June of 1995 in exchange for taxpayer subsidies, and then
redistributing them to other congressional members on the House floor, Boehner
said, “They [the lobbyists] asked me to give out a half dozen checks,
quickly, before we got to the end of the month — and I complied. And I did it
on the House floor, which I regret, and should not have done. It’s not a
violation of the House rules, but it’s a practice that’s gone on here for a
long time that we’re trying to stop and I know that I’ll never do it
    again.”

  • Gary Camden

I think we have been through the whoever and whatever over and over. The fact is, yes Senator Boehner more jobs in long term jobs will help somewhat, but if jobs bills were created today, how long would it be before those jobs come to fruition and put a dent in the unemployment percentage? By the time, and if a positive result were to come from more jobs, there will be up to 6 TO 10 million in the situation we are today. And what about other people like myself, who live in an area where there are a number of jobs available? (Dallas, TX). I have been out of work since June 2013 and have sent out over 1000 applications. I have had a few phone interviews and and maybe 4 face to face, with two of them coming down to me being one of the top considered. However as I spoke to a employment agent yesterday they tell me as they see all the time, my age at 56 is playing a large part in not be able to land a job in my field or any other field that could use an employee with my Business Acumen and Skill Sets. Even lowering my salary requirements has not helped. He said the employers used to be satisfied with a potential employee to the age of 60, now it is between 45 and 50 years of age. So with new jobs and on the hunt everyday how are additional jobs going to help me and people in the same situation? If lucky I am going to have to the perfect situation with the perfect company, if not we will be on the streets within a month. So anything that will help our country and my fellow Americans in the long term I am all for. But right now, and in the near future, no matter what kind of plan you roll out it won’t be soon enough to help a massive amount of the American population without immediate help. Thank you and God Bless us!

I wrote to President Obama several times about unemployment Extension. I got a response from his Department. He cares. I just wrote to him again to ask him urgently to try to Compromise, Negotiate, Work Out with John Boehner to find something even though against President Obama’s rules to make this Bil passed. We run out of time and what counts now it’s to help urgently 3 millions of unemployed people with no income, 200 000 of Veterans.
To ask President Obama to makes some sacrifices against his believes and deal with John Boehner to fix this issue urgently.
Please read my others comments earlier.

The Government can send Billions abroad and let down his own people without Income. The Congress daily keeps busy debating about abroad poverty, financial and issues but not talking about intern issues. And you ask yourself: and what about our people and me?

      NOSEZ PEOPLE OUR GOVERNMENT,,,

  • Dolly2007

I think this way: The Congress seems to be there to fix the Budget and are not Social workers. Only help abroad and avoiding Deficit are their goals and they own raise and their own interests. They can vote for their own raise.
That is Politic : fixing what is their own personal interests.

  • David Darby

I blame the GOP first and foremost, but I also blame Obama for refusing to even pick up the phone and speak directly with Boehner to advocate the bill’s passage. Horse trading goes on every day in Washington. You don’t have to give away Keystone to get this passed.

  • Annie Rose

They say you are not affected by the truth until its on your doorstep. Well I think all the people who have lost everything need to make their way to the WhiteHouse with a tent and sleeping back and camp out on the lawn until they finally do something. I bet this would get this passed in a hurry!

    • chrysie

I would love to go to the whte house sleep in a tent and fight for this, but sadly all of us that has lost everything meaning everything home, car ext have noway to get there living in diffrent state.

Unemployment Extension 2014: Republicans working on New Insurance Benefits Bill With Democrats. 2 months later…almost the end of May…ARE YOU KIDDING ME…now Republicans decide to try and come up with something…its a little late dont you think. It will pass, its gonna
Be at the last few days so the republicans can say they saved the day,

  • Larry king

Boehner, you are not a job creator, you are a job killer! I was cut off in December like most of the long term unemployed. I received a check for 1 week of tier 1 of the federal extension before being cut off. After 4 months of no income I finally was hired for a full time position. Well the celebration was short lived because I was terminated for not having car insurance. Due to not having any income since December, I was not able to pay for insurance. The choice was to either put food on the table for my family, or pay the insurance. I chose my family. Now, I am punished for that by being terminated 10 days after starting my job. Thanks Boehner, if it wasn’t for you, I would still have a job!! I hold you responsible for this happening to me. If I had my benefits I would have been able to keep up with paying my car insurance!!! Now I am back in the unemployment boat which is sinking because of you!! You are a sorry excuse of a human being! You should not be in office. You should be in a jail cell with only bread and water to live on. Or better yet, a jail cell full of scotch so you can sit there and drown yourself.

    • erick

    • aging worker

      Yeah, when pigs fly.

    • Nemesis4Life

Highly doubt it…they would be attaching it to the jobs bill if that were true and they aren’t!

      • DJMiles

Jobs bill 3080 just passed 92-07 of course no unemployment extension attached since Democrats don’t want it to ever pass…No let Obama sign the jobs bill without demanding Boehner hold up to his end of the deal (allow vote on unemployment after the Senate takes up 1 of the 46 house passed jobs bills) …..Sad thing is Obama will just sign the bill and yet these people will still praise him and the Democrats

        • Nemesis4Life

It’s just sickening…and they wonder why people have just given up? I can’t believe their are still people who support these people. Whenever they (republicans and/or democrats) start telling me how much their political side is so good…I start sending them links to educate them on what is really going on. They really think that mainstream media tells them the truth.

I read an article last night that ABC did, I read people’s comments. It’s just horrible to know that people still think their political party is awesome!

          • DJMiles

It’s because these people refuse to accept that Congress and the president decided in November that EUC would not be extended that 5 months later we have less chance of a extension being passed…Today’s jobs bill for example passed 92-07 EUC could have been attached just as Boehner has said for 5 months he’s waiting on the Senate to send a unemployment extension with a measure that creates jobs before he will hold a vote….Democrats failed again to attach unemployment but the bill still needs to be signed by Obama who very easily could force the house to pass 1 of the 5 unemployment extensions sitting their before he signs the 15 billion dollar jobs bill…You think the people on here are bad try twitter they don’t have a clue on their…

They should take responsibility for GOP crony corporations shipping millions of jobs offshore? They should take responsibility for GOP giving corporations budget busting tax breaks and cutting food aid to hungry kids? They should take responsibility for GWB and GOP sending thousands of troops to their death and maiming hundreds of thousands for fake WMDs? What is wrong with you? You expect every individual to have the wherewithal to to get a new job quickly after their job is outsourced because GOP gave corporations tax breaks for outsourcing? You aren’t willing to give people who have worked for many years and paid into an unemployment fund a bit of time to find a job? Cluelessness is not attractive, but it seems to be the GOP mindset. Garrett,,,,,,,Why don’t you take your pecker and your resume and hit the road………go find a job and get to work…….stop sitting around telling dry jokes……..

    • voltaic

Your cluelessness is stunning, but then again so is the GOP voter. There are 4 million available jobs in US and 13 million ‘official’ unemployed/underemployed. I know math is probably not your strong suit, but even if EVERY job in the US was filled, there would still be 9 million ‘official’ unemployed.

GOP sends soldiers to war for fake WMDs and now GOP stops their unemployment benefits when they come home! 270,000 veterans had their unemployment ended by GOP along with 3 million jobless Americans. That’s your kind of America? Send kids to war and then abandon them when they get home? Workers with 30 years of experience get their job offshored by GOP crony corporations and you tell them they are lazy because they ca’t find a new job quickly? Class act.

Now instead of blaming all unemployed for being lazy, why don’t you go read something besides cowboy magazines and listening to Fox Spews, You are the types that go along with feeding the wealthy and harming the poor and middle class. Go read a book…..

      • http://drop-it-like-its-hott.com Ester Williams

WAA WAAA WAAAA……get your kleenex out and wipe your nose….there are plenty of jobs for everyone…just egos don’t allow you to take minimum wage jobs. The veterans signed up for what they got, no more draft….so deal with it. My calculator tells me that you just need to put the remote down and the cell phone down and get something called a resume and get to steppin’…you’re the one feeling sorry for yourself and watching Fox News with the doom and gloom….

        • voltaic

I think you are hilarious and you should take that comedy act on the road. You have no concept of facts, data, reality or mobility. You disregard veterans who come back from WMD wars who struggle to find jobs. I’m sure that even this fact doesn’t register:

There were 4.0 million job openings on the last business day of March, little changed from February.

So while the workforce grows, the available jobs stagnate.

You are blaming the worker for a systemic problem that requires more than just empty rhetoric and happy thoughts.

          • http://drop-it-like-its-hott.com Ester Williams

Excuses and whining…..all its sounds like you do……got nothing to do with the get to steppin’ and finding plenty of jobs out there…….you sound like you and all the rest of you whiners have taking your pity-party act on the road. You guys are hilarious….the unemployment rate keeps dropping because you’re not getting that free ride. You got to get out and work now…..that unemployment rate’s going to keep dropping as well……..my proof you lazy people need to get a resume and get to looking…..I love when the statistics prove my point……word!!!!

IT HAS BEEN FIVE MONTHS THAT THESE FAMILIES HAVE BEEN WITHOUT UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS, AND THEY HAVE WATCHED THE REPUBLICANS PLAY THEIR WAITING GAME, MAKING EVERY ATTEMPT TO STALL THE VOTING ON THE EXTENSION BILL, IN THE HOPES IT WILL GET TOO LATE TO VOTE FOR IT. THEY HAVE DELIBERATELY WASTED FIVE MONTHS, WHILE THESE FAMILIES FACED EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, BANKRUPTCY, AND HOMELESSNESS. THESE POOR FAMILIES HAVE LOST EVERYTHING, WHILE WAITING FOR THE HELP THAT THEY DESERVED . THE REPUBLICANS HAVE NOW JUST HANDED OVER TO THE DEMOCRATS 2.6 MILLION NEW VOTES IN THE COMING ELECTION. WITH EACH BLAMING THE OTHER FOR NOT DOING ENOUGH TO PASS THE EXTENSION BILL, THE SAD TRUTH IS THAT THEY NEVER TRULY CARED ENOUGH ABOUT PASSING IT FROM THE VERY START. THIS ALL ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE IN-FIGHTING AND PARTY POLITICS THAT HAVE BEEN GOING ON TO THE MISFORTUNE OF THE 2.6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES LEFT HUNG OUT TO DRY, MANY WHO HAVE SINCE BEEN FINANCIALLY DESTROYED IN THE PROCESS. THESE POLITICIANS DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE PLIGHT OF THE 99 PERCENTERS IN THIS COUNTRY, BUT RATHER FOR THE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS AND BIG CORPORATIONS, AND THEIR OWN PERSONAL WELL BEING. AMERICANS HAVE NO ONE REPRESENTING THEIR INTEREST ANY LONGER. SHAME ON THESE BOTH PARTIES FOR THEIR LACK OF ACTION AND COMPASSION FOR THEIR FELLOW AMERICANS IN NEED. AMERICA NEEDS A REVOLUTION AGAIN TO CHANGE THE COURSE OF WHERE WE’RE GOING. THIS COMING ELECTION WILL BE THE 99 PERCENTERS OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE THESE POLITICAL LIFERS OUT OF THEIR CUSHY JOBS

Republicans are trying to cause as much pain and suffering on the American people as possible.

Why won’t the Republicans in Congress pass the President’s jobs Act?

Why won’t Republicans create they’re own actual jobs bill? Cutting taxes and environmental and labor regulation is NOT a jobs bill. Reagan proved to us that trill down economics does not work.

FDR proved that the government can create jobs and improve the lives of the American people.

IT’S MORE THAN “A SHAME”, IT’S A CRIME AND EMBARASSMENT.THE REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS HAVE FAILED THE MORE THAN 2.6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES WITHOUT BENEFITS SINCE LAST DECEMBER. THESE MILLIONS OF FAMILIES HAVE FACED EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, PERSONAL BANKRUPTCY, AND HOMELESSNESS, WHILE THE TWO POLITICAL PARTIES HELD THE EXTENSION BILL HOSTAGE IN THE SENATE. THEY CHOSE TO MAKE THE PEOPLE SUFFER RATHER THAN TO COOPERATE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE PEOPLE. THESE POLITICIANS NEED TO BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE IN THE NEXT ELECTION. THIS SHOULF NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. THESE POLITICIANS ARE A DISGRACE,

genuinely care about the deficit. They are likely to pass a collection of business tax cuts in the upcoming weeks that would increase the deficit by nearly $400 billion. That’s more than 40 times the $9.7 billion cost of the Senate UI deal, and the Senate deal even includes a partial offset.

The Republican and democratic parties, have both FAILED the millions of unemployed families without an UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSION since late last December. For over five months now, the republicans have held the extension bill “HOSTAGE” in the senate, for political leverage, and party agenda. While millions of these families were facing EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, BANKRUPTCY, AND HOMELESSNESS, the politicians were playing “party politics” and using them as bargaining chips. Both party’s have totally walked away from this crisis, preferring not do anything further more about it. When so many families are struggling, and hurting financially, and watching their credit becoming destroyed, the congress approved a foreign aid package for the Ukraine, worth BILLIONS of tax payer dollars. How can this be possible? What ever happened to taking care of Americans here at home? Both parties have shown a total lack of human compassion, and common decency towards these unemployed families. Americans need to demonstrate out in the streets across this country, and demand CHANGE. We need to REMOVE these career politicians, and replace them with “PUBLIC SERVANTS” again, that will truly represent the people..

Congress is FINALLY back from another long break! This is something that should be taken care of today since they let the extension lapse at the end of May. Many people are waiting and needing unemployment benefits just to live! Just because the economy is better then 2008 doesn’t mean unemployed people should be able to get at least an extension. If you look at the numbers, in other times of economic stress and the number of unemployed being even less then it is now, there were extensions to unemployment benefits. 26 weeks to find a new job and get trained for a possible need career, just isn’t enough time! It takes almost an hour just to fill out an on line application. Thats 5 hours a day sitting in front of a computer only to get nowhere and still not receive a pay check! There has to be a better way! Mean while, I have two children I need to support! When I was in my 20s jobs were easy to find! When a person is older, it is way harder to find a job. Why is that? I tell my kids they need to educate themselves so they have a career versus a job! I hope they never experience what me and my husband went through! We grew up in an era Where we were told to get out and get a job and not an education!

I myself lost my unemployment last year. I was with my company for years, till the. Company got bought out by another after a year we all lost our jobs no warning just confrence call our companies closes it doors. I filed unemployment got the 26 weeks standard unemployment gives you then move to EUI then as I said was taken away the end of last year. I put in applications everyday to find work, I’m either over qualified or someone younger gets the position. I have to live with my family due to no money, have to take the bus or walk to my interviews my car was repoed since my unemployment was taking away and still havnt found a job. I have read so many comments on diffrent sites about this and mainly reading why us almost 3 million Americans are not standing up and fighting. I’ve signed every petition I’ve come accross, shared it on every media site I’m on and able to share, I’ve ask everyone I know to please help all us unemployed going through this horrible situation. I can’t protest because I lost my car and have no money or way to get to these places or trust me I would. I’m truly heartbroken all us Americans are dealing with getting our hopes up there finally giving all us our EUI to be told, once again not going to happen. Please sign any petition you see to renew EUI, call your State Rep, speak out anyway you can as I’m doing and hopefully enough people will fight back to get this approved.

IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ALL HAVE GIVEN UP ON THESE UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES,THE REPUBLICANS & DEMOCRATIC PARTIES, HAVE BOTH FAILED THE 3 MILLION UNEMPLOYED AMERICANS STILL WITHOUT AN EXTENSION OF UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS, SINCE LATE LAST DECEMBER. BOTH POLITICAL PARTIES HAVE BEEN TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE TO GET THIS MUCH NEEDED BILL PASSED IN THE SENATE. WHILE BILLIONS OF TAX PAYER DOLLARS HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY CONGRESS IN AID FOR THE UKRAINE, MILLIONS OF AMERICAN FAMILIES HAVE FELL INTO FINANCIAL RUIN WAITING FOR HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT, WHICH STILL HASN’T COME. THESE FAMILIES HAVE HAD TO FACE EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, BANKRUPTCY, AND HOMELESSNESS, WHILE THE REPUBLICANS CONTINUE HOLDING THE EXTENSION BILL “HOSTAGE” IN THE SENATE, FOR POLITICAL LEVERAGE, AND PARTY AGENDA. OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVE ABANDONED THESE 3 MILLION FAMILIES, AND HAVE LEFT THEM HUNG OUT TO DRY, WITH NO SUPPORT. WHERE IS THEIR COMPASSION, AND COMMON DECENCY?

Boehner should be publically executed in front of his family for the harm he has done to good American citizens and the damage he has caused our economy. Once his family has watched his execution they should be deported.

For anyone not familiar with Sebastian Klay he is a loser from California who poses here as a few different names, mrmanno, left wing, sebastian klay and even a woman Valerieblanck. Yes, this loser even poses as a woman. If anyone here can help me to obtain his home address it would be appreciated and I will rid us of him. He thinks it is his job to provoke people and insult people who are down on their luck while he hides behind the safety of his computer screen. The world has no use for these types of people and anything you can do to help get his address will be of benefit to us all. I promise to post pictures of when I meet him, it won’t be a good day for him I promise. In the meantime ignore his ignorant comments and he will go away.
