Perez Offers to Negotiate Unemployment Extension With Boehner

With an unemployment extension stalled in the House, Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez sent a letter to Speaker John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, offering to negotiate on a range of job-creation measures and urging the speaker to act.

But Perez said the extension should not have to wait.

“You have indicated that [Emergency Unemployment Compensation] should only be extended in combination with job-creation measures, but EUC is itself an effective job creation tool,” Perez said in the letter sent Wednesday.

Perez said the decision not to extend unemployment benefits has so far cost 80,000 jobs and will cost an estimated 240,000 jobs by the end of the year. He also offered to negotiate additional job creation measures.

“In addition to the large job creation impacts of unemployment insurance, the Administration would welcome the opportunity to work with you on several job creation measures that Congress could pass together with the EUC extension. For example, we are eager to work on bipartisan legislation to fix our immigration system, simplify the tax code for businesses, support transportation reauthorization, and modernize our skills and job training programs,” Perez wrote.

The letter didn’t impress the speaker’s office.

“Secretary Perez, and the entire Obama administration, have been aware of House Republicans’ position on this issue since December of last year: We need a fiscally responsible package that also helps to create more private-sector jobs,” Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said in a statement. “This letter – once again – does not include such a plan.”

Perez offered to meet with Boehner.

He also dismissed the speaker’s concerns that the Senate bill would be difficult to administer, noting he has experience as a former state labor secretary.

“I would respectfully submit that the implementation challenges for slates pale in comparison to the day-to-day-struggles confronting the long-term unemployed,” he said.

He also talked about the 70,000 unemployed people in the speaker’s home state who have been cut off from benefits.

“As the Ohio job seeker told me, the long term unemployed ‘have no quit in them,’” Perez said. “President Obama and I are not quitting on them; the Senate has not quit on them.”

Just yesterday, the administration threatened to veto a $156 billion corporate tax cut proposed by the House GOP. The administration complained, in part, that it would cost far more than the unemployment extension bill. And unlike that bill, the tax cut would add to the deficit.

The full letter is below:

Dear Speaker Boehner:

I am writing to urge the House to take up consideration of S. 2148, the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Act of 2014. The Senate has taken bipartisan action to restore critical unemployment benefits due to the lapse in the program last December, and to ensure that other eligible recipients continue to receive these benefits. We worked closely with a bipartisan group of Senators, and remain willing to do the same with you and others in the House.

Since the December 2013 deadline came and went, almost 2.6 million people, including more than 70,000 in Ohio, have been stripped of unemployment benefits that help them keep the lights on, rent paid, and family fed. All too many long-term unemployed are making painful choices between these critical necessities. With each passing week of inaction on this issue, an additional 70,000 Americans looking for work exhaust unemployment insurance without having found a job.

In the months before and after the expiration of EUC benefits, I have met with numerous people struggling to get back into the workforce after a long period of unemployment. Their determination inspires me. Their full time job is to look for a job. One person shared that he had successfully beaten cancer years ago, and “fighting cancer was far easier than fighting long-term unemployment.” I travelled to Ohio recently and met with a group of determined people seeking employment, one of whom said ” I’ve got no quit in me, because I do not want my son ever to think that his father is a quitter.” These people embody the spirit and resilience of the long-term unemployed, who are working tirelessly to get back into the workforce.

You have indicated that EUC should only be extended in combination with job creation measures, but EUC is itself an effective job creation tool. Estimates from outside economists and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) suggest that without an extension of EUC, GOP growth will diminish by 0.2 to 0.4 percent. Failing to extend UI benefits puts a dent in job-seekers’ incomes, reduces demand and will cost an estimated 240,000 jobs in 2014. Of that, the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) estimates we have already incurred a loss of roughly 80,000 jobs so far this year. In a 2011 study, the CBO found that assistance to the unemployed is among the policies with the largest employment impacts per dollar spent.

These large impacts occur because unemployment benefits tend to flow to people who need the dollars for necessary expenses and will spend benefits quickly at businesses in their communities, spurring local growth and local job creation. Extensions of UI are “both timely and cost-effective in spurring economic activity and employment” (CBO 2011). In short, extending EUC benefits is the right thing to do and the smart thing to do for job seekers and the economy.

In addition to the large job creation impacts of unemployment insurance, the Administration would welcome the opportunity to work with you on several job creation measures that Congress could pass together with the EUC extension. For example, we are eager to work on bipartisan legislation to fix our immigration system, simplify the tax code for businesses, support transportation reauthorization, and modernize our skills and job training programs.
You have also expressed concerns that it would be difficult for states to administer the EUC program. I would note that Governors Sandoval and Chafee of Nevada and Rhode Island, respectively, have publicly indicated that they are ready and able to implement the Senate bill. This is noteworthy in that Rhode Island and Nevada have two of the highest rates of unemployment in the nation. As a former state Labor Secretary, I have considerable experience implementing these programs. I would respectfully submit that the implementation challenges for slates pale in comparison to the day-to-day-struggles confronting the long-term unemployed. Throughout this recovery, the Department of Labor has worked closely and collaboratively with states to ensure effective implementation of EUC programs, and we will continue to do so. I am confident that we can address any concerns and work with states to enable successful implementation of S. 2148.

The economy continues to grow at a steady pace. Last week’s April jobs report marked the 50 consecutive month of private sector job growth. Over nine million jobs have been created in the last 50 months. At the same time, too many Americans remain out of work through no fault of their own. Until last December, it was unprecedented for Congress to fail to extend EUC benefits when long term unemployment remained so high.

People from all walks of life and all across America desperately need our help. They want to punch their ticket once again to the middle class, and they are working tirelessly to find a job. As the Ohio job seeker told me, the long term unemployed “have no quit in them.” President Obama and I are not quitting on them; the Senate has not quit on them. I would urge you to bring S. 2148 to a vote immediately, and I am more than willing to meet with you to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

THOMAS E. PEREZ

Even the Secretary of Labor is telling Boehner this is a job creator and he REFUSES to bring it to the floor for a vote! This is TREASON on Boehner’s part and it needs to stop even if it has to be by executive order. Shameless!

    • Chicken

This really is a form of treason. The White House is trying to negotiate here for the American People. There should be a rule that the president could force a vote.

      • koolaid

Hand out bread crumbs and people will vote for you…
        Socialism 101

Well koolaid….maybe I should come over to your house and steal your breadcrumbs? Socialism 101 huh? you mean paying 835,000 pension to a general caught in sexual harassment. Im sure you love those class guys. You cant stand it that I may be able to eat and have gas money to drive to a part time job or interview. Id like to put my free market fist across your fascist mouth.

Hand out bread crumbs and people will vote for you…
Socialism 101…Right so the $156 billion corporate tax cut proposed by the House GOP is a better plan for ya….Stupidity 201

      • Keith Bummed

Treason to not hand out money we do not have? The government is not here to provide a free ride to people out of work or refusing to work. Treason is allowing all of our jobs to go overseas and not tariff the money we loose in taxes to the greedy corporations that send jobs overseas. Treason is forcing people to buy services they feel or think they should have. Treason is allowing our soldiers and citizens to die uselessly in embassies. Treason is giving hard earned American tax dollars to illegal aliens. Hand outs are for the rich to donate when feeling benevolent. Not our government. Citizenship is not a guarantee to free food and lively hood. Citizenship means voting for the correct course for you country, not some bogus party that pits citizen against citizen.

        • FedUpInNJ

Free ride?! I’ve paid FICA taxes for over 50 years! No one is refusing to work?! THERE ARE NO FULL TIME JOBS! Soliders know exactly what they are getting into when the enlist, to die in the line of duty has NO SHAME! People vote in hopes of their representatives will represent them, not a corporation! Keith, your comments are just stupid!

          • Keith Bummed

Your rebuttal is stupid, it lacks anything remotely resembling a thought out process. It is bitter emotion at something you refuse to think about. Don’t call me stupid when all you do is rant in anger.

        • satoshi n.

keith you are to evil and ignorant to repond to but just incase you are mentally lacking I will correct you, although you are not worth my breath. you a hol said”"to not hand out money we do not have.”" The unemployment insurance (futa) generates a surplus (google what surplus means you ignorant a hol) of $3.2 billion per week on average for the last 6 months, if you are not mentally challenged look it up. I will credit you on the point for being forced to purchase a good or service against your will or face what the court states is not a tax, or a percentage of your income taken from you (like a tax)

          • Keith Bummed

The said money we do not have is why we are so far in debt by trillions of dollars, 3.2 billion does not even scratch that, think about what you say before you call someone ignorant. I think your mentally challenged if that’s all you are focusing on. Calling me evil is also an extended comment as you do not even know me, is this how you logically discuss anything? Calling people names?
Please come to the discussion with facts that encompass the whole issue, not just what you want to focus on.

          • satoshi n.

proves it u r 2 stupid to understand futa surplus and 2 stupid in general

Great rebuttal, where did you learn to debate, school yard alley?

He does not want to pass this bill. That’s all to it!

      • JimmyBiden

He doesn’t care about the bill or the people. He simply likes the idea of feeling important even if it means doing nothing to feel important. He will pass this bill if the White House attaches job creation (AKA- tax-breaks for the rich) measures to it.

        • Gar

He will continue to stall until the month of May passes by. Then a new bill will have to be created and voted on in the Senate before he has to deal with it.

        • Daniel Ryan

He doesnt have to worry about the White House attaching tax breaks to the UI bill. The all democrat Ways and Means Commitee passed the tax break on to Boehners House for the vote. I repeat once again the GOP isnt acting alone on any of this stalled unemployment or passing tax extenders

        • Rio

Boehner is the front man for the Keystone pipeline. He represents special interest. Until they get what they want-he will use the EU & the suffering of Americans.

Boehner is guilty violation of his oath of office to say the least.

What about all of the Obama admin. They have committed Treason time and time again, F&F arming enemy’s of the country. IRA. Benghazi. and the list goes on and on wake up it is both sides….

  • Chicken

I am even prepared to say there should be a rule change offering both sides the ability to bring bills to the floor despite party lines. These are changes that would effectively not stop democracy within our country.

    • emmjay

I came to the U S thinking it is different than my corrupt motherland, I served during a war time, have a great translating skill, have a clearance, and can not find a job since I was laid off. I applied for so many jobs, passed all the tests that was given to me, and still not a single job offer. My unemployment will expire in 3 weeks, and I am watching my dream land becoming just another corrupt country, while ironically, money is given to corrupt officials in my motherland to stay corrupt.

    • Ted Burke

The rule USED TO BE that if the House passed a bill and it was changed in the Senate then sent back to the House that ANY member of the House could bring it up for a vote. However, when the government shutdown this past winter, the Republicans didn’t want any Democratic policies getting passed to reopen the government, so they made an emergency change in the House procedure to change it so that the only person now that can bring a bill to the floor once it has been changed by the Senate is Cantor the House Majority Leader. Sadly, this is what has happened with the Unemployment Issue. The bill went through the House, went to the Senate, the Senate made some changes (nothing out of the ordinary so far in this process), and then it was sent back to the House as required by our Constitution, but now since the Republican House didn’t like the bill from the Senate they would continue using their new rule and only Cantor can allow a vote to be brought on the extension. This is not the first time that Cantor and Boehner have conspired to pull a stunt like this to get their way.

      • biggin

I think it is sad the they can make their own laws I sure hope that the democrats take over in the November elections

  • Matthew Pieri

People start calling Boehner’s campaign contributors and tell them you are boycotting their goods and services and willing to participate in a smear campaign against them for their support of Boehner.

    • Chicken

Unfortunately they don’t care… Most of their services are OEM and you would have no idea what they actually own.

      • Matthew Pieri

Then time to Fight Club their azzez.

        • Chicken

I really don’t understand how a Republican can support this strategy… I just don’t see it. Anyone who makes less than $100,000 should never vote for the GOP… Period

  • Matthew Pieri

Because record profits, unheralded political contributions, direct access to Washington D.C., Wall Street subsidized by the Fed and stratospheric CEO pay with a bailout on top is just not quite enough. Do you still believe mindlessly in capitalism, or do you like your cows with cancer and TB cause regulations are bad? Go ahead America, neither party is great, but go ahead, vote in the Republicans in November and let them destroy and disassemble this great nation more for the big special interest corporations who plight our Earth.

    • Surfer4314

The only way is up from the lying Obama administration. I guess we can have more of the same with Clinton. How is NAFTA working how about All the jobs sent to China from GE I guess GE gets a pass because CEO of GE was on Obama Board as a jobs Czar. So many other jobs are going out of the country because of Obama’s tax’s and the EPA. The monster just keeps getting bigger and bigger. We as citizens have to put a stop to the madness .Smaller government…Term Limits…

  • Bottle of blue

Nothing is going to change his mind. Why didn’t Boehner just say from the beginning that he wouldn’t pass UI extension. Obviously he’s not willing to work with anyone. He led everyone on and wasted the senates time. Typical politics

    • Chicken

At this point I expect Obama to veto ANY bill having to do with hand outs to the rich via tax breaks… Period.

      • erick

          • EKF

            P. Obama is spending anything. People can only receive unemployment if they paid into it. Many have done so for 40 plus years and this is their first time drawing it. 40 years does not equal to 26 weeks unless you are using republimath? Gotta look further than you nose?

          • F_This

Employees do not pay any unemployment, the business owner does. So WTF are you talking about?

          • Monica Stevens

Yes employees do, it’s called F.I.C.A.
Check your paystub, in most states it’s taxed at the same rate as your state income tax.

          • Ernie Schaal

FICA funds medicare and social security. Not unemployment.

          • optimistic

            yep

          • EKF

@F_This- I will type this real slow so that you better understand it. First of all you are bassackwards and one would even wonder if you know how to read a pay stub. As Monica plainly put it…F.I.C.A. Secondly a if you were correct and you’re not if a company was paying on behalf of an employee then does it matter since that employee had to be working for the company for the company to pay into the system. Either way your argument doesn’t hold water. If the individual or the company pays into the system for 30-50 years that certainly should allow them to receive more than 26 weeks or less in some cases. “That’s WTF I’m I’m talking about dumbass!”

          • Ernie Schaal

FICA goes to social security and medicare.

You are very, very incorrect on retro pay. There is no grandfather clause in the Bill preserving TUR rate when EUC expired. By end of MAy, TUR is trending to go below 6 % making Tier two extinct. Tier 3 is already extinct since TUR is below 7 %. If you were in Tier 2 or Tier 3 when EUC expired, you will NOT receive any retro payments. If you were in Tier 1 you will finish Tier 1 as it is not tied to TUR….

I am an attorney working closely with several key figures on this bill to get it pushed through. we’re working hard into the weekend for your cause. Please don’t ask me to verify or confirm any of this.

        • Allen hill

When I was unemployed due to age discrimination in 2001, my wife and I cleaned houses for a living, collected stuff on the sides of roads sold it at yard sales and rented out a couple rooms in our house? I hope this helps.

        • Keith Bummed

Really, how does he owe this to you? What salary did you earn? Unemployment is not a salary. It was a benefit created to get you by until you found work, but never a salary. Extensions of a benefit are not an entitlement.

      • http://batman-news.com Robert Block

Forget about the stupid pipeline. It a waste of time and a huge eye sore for the US. The US wouldn’t even get oil from this pipeline.
Do you want it to run threw your backyard ?

      • http://batman-news.com Robert Block

Beside the votes are not in the Senate for this to pass.
The Unemployment bill would pass in Congress.

      • Matthew Pieri

UI is a good idea, the Pipeline is not. Think of it this way, you would rather build a polluting dangerous pipeline with no real job creation, you would rather subjugate and kill people in foreign countries in order to extract 200 million year old sunlight. You would frack our backyards, pollute our rivers and blast the tops of our mountains for an hour of electricity when we could take all we want for free falling from the sky.

        • Ernie Schaal

The oil is being moved one way or another. Would you rather have it moved the slowest most expensive way possible via railcar….Or via pipeline. Create jobs, make someone money, who in turn gives some of that money to the people that work for him.
UI should have a limit. You shouldn’t be able to live off of UI forever. Your not entitled to it. I was on UI for 4 months, and found another job. Find another job, swallow your pride, and quit being a leach.

          • Matthew Pieri

Totally mindless parrot with no clues about the environmental damage burning that oil will do. Who said anything about unemployment douchy boy?

How many have committed suicide because of Boehners actions? We’ll never know. But I’m sure there are plenty.

      • Shizue Leigh Hicks

Check out the online Stanford Daily from February 17th (“Compassionate Conservatism” on the UI Extension). There was a letter from “hopeless.” At the end of the post, “hopeless” stated that suicide — a running car in an enclosed garage — was the next step.

  • Gannon52

I for one call on the people oh Ohio to vote this man from office. The only reason he is holding the UEE hostage is because of the Keystone Pipeline. But we who have faith shall march on. Lazy Quiter’s I think not. Here is a prayer for those who are suffering because of greed.

    Fear Not

As the days pass upon my life I seek the answers of unanswered prayers yet wisdom abandons me in that very moment.

For as time passes and I seek the truth of my despair a shield is lifted beyond my control.

Inside me I feel the warmth of his comfort upon my very soul, for as the wind gently caresses the day, the revelations I seek are before me.

The presence of fear dissipates for it cannot live in light nor in the presence of
    God.

Worry is free of the shekels of despair yet turn to faith in he who knows me beyond life on this plain.

The passing of days lay before me as though a window of time and each time I look within he is there.

Fear not he is with you as in me, closely keeping an eye on what we cannot see.

Yet His very existence is abundantly clear, should we shed our fear of what might be, and rely upon he who knows us true for eternity.

So seek and ye shall find God has been with you throughout all time.

Fear not what you do not see, yet take comfort in knowing he, and let the wind lay gently upon you, for in it are the answers you seek to find.

    KEEP THE PRESSURE ON BOEHNER
The participation rate is pitiful and since millions stopped looking for work the unemployment rate dropped. This is NOT a good sign. When the long-term unemployed do not have funds to pursue employment they stop looking. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see this is a problem.

Contact John Boehner and have him move the extended unemployment bill forward.

    John Boehner:
    Phone: (202) 225-0600

Orange man please help our country and quit giving tax brakes for people investing in China.I know you like those tax brakes but all you are doing is giving tax brakes for the rich and the communist party of China.I am sure orange man can you spear 10 billion out of trillions in tax brakes.

    • Kate

Tom you have me laughing so hard. Best laugh I had in weeks. Orangeman. Thanks I needed that comic relief

  • Paladin653

HE wants to negotiate the tax cuts for his big time business buddies but wants it spelled out to the letter what the others wants to negotiate on EUC. It is simple he want it his way or no way to hell with people, the country or anything else. His voters should to what ever they can to have him removed and vote in someone who cares about them and not the lobbyist.

  • Jeff Speaker

10 billion for the 2 million plus out of work, starving struggling Americans, Oh no that’s too much according to Boehner. 10.10 minimum wage for the struggling middle class , Oh no that’s too much according to Boehner, 156 Billion in tax breaks for the top 1 percent, Oh yea that sounds about right (according to Boehner). Lets not forget he took an advance from the Koch brothers to have the Bill for the keystone pipeline approved, (Which is the sole reason why he wont bring unemployment extension to a vote) Isn’t that like taking a bribe to approve a bill. Special place in hell for people like Boehner… But then again, he is probably from there.

  • Bev

Finally, someone with a freaking brain gets involved in this fiasco. I have been saying all along that this bill is a job creation measure in itself, it pays for itself almost immediately. Somehow this seems to escape the “boehnhead” or he chose to ignore the facts and the people he represents, which seems like the more reasonable explanation.

  • John Carmiche

I cant believe the american people have to put up with john boehner ,he needs to be impeached asap before he creates a civil war within this country. I cant speak for the 3 million plus who have lost benefits and the one who are losing them everyday but this guy needs to go someone please get him ought a office or talk some sense into this fool. I am sure some law is being broken somewhere buy him holding Americans hostage because he dosen’t want to bring this bill to the floor no one man should have this power. There is a new bill hr 4550 that has everything lets see what lame excuses he uses. Benefits would start in June and end in nov.

  • Viva_la_Guevara

what we can do is create an open petition at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/ asking to remove John Boehner from his position… maybe then someone will listen

    • Surfer4314

It is not just one person, Ask Harry Reid about the Keystone Pipeline

  • Daniel Ryan

Congress does not want this bill to pass on either side of the aisle. Republicans want to end UI permanently and the democrats want to use this as a reelection campaign while boasting the national unemployment rate has dropped below 6% under Pres. Obama. This helps prop up the dollar and benefits corporations and politicians. That whole badly acted soap opera episode yesterday at the courtroom in Washington shows that both parties are equally guilty of misleading the public while dodging the cameras while dodging the cameras at all cost

    • drhoops

      Agree

    • Larry king

That is not completely true. The Dems I think are partly using it for poliical gain because it does help them. However, they are the ones continuing to push for it. The Republicans are guilty as hell because they only care about the 1%. That is who has bought the republican party. It is so obvious by their actions and decisions, They do not care about the unemployed or the middle class. All they want us for is to work like slaves for minimum wage and to pay the taxes for the rich. The 1% are in a lower tax bracket than the majority of the middle class.

      • Daniel Ryan

I totally agree Larry King but my philosophy is this. If someone doesnt like what I stand for yet has the courage to stand up and tell me to my face I may not like that person but I respect their honesty. I dont like the republican party and Im sure they could care less but if you tell a democrat you dont like their party they get angry and refuse to fess up to their role in government

        • Larry king

I agree with you on that too. I have only voted for republicans since I was old enough to vote. I am now 48 years old and I can tell you I will NEVER vote for another republican again.. This issue made me take a close look at our government. I WAS a devoted republican., Now I think the DEMS were more for the people all along. Not to say I agree with them, but I think the country would be better off if we got rid of both parties and start over.

        • Surfer4314

Daniel that is why so many have dropped out of both party’s. I for one am sick and tired of the lays from both party’s It is time for term limits and some new blood in the government No more Bush’s or Clintons, or Kennedys. No more life pensions of life time medical. You get the benefits while you hold the office period. Term limits is the answer to most of these problems.

    • james

We should all get new shirts that says never vote again

    • Surfer4314

The rate has dropped because people are falling off the claims. out of benefits . My wife is one of them. going from a 6 figure salary to unemployment is a hard nut to crack. she has never been unemployed in 40 years. Managing half the country for a Communications company, She took the layoff instead of laying someone else off that had children at home. We had a back up plan, not living for today but saving for tomorrow and that tomorrow looks bleak with Obama and the DEMS, Libs Socialists…In Calif the real Unemployment rate is 12.5% In AZ it is about 10%. The numbers are fixed by the government You can’t have more new claims every week that surpass the jobs created and have the unemployment rate go down . Simple Math….

  • Lynne

Ok America everyone needs to call Boehner voice mail and blow it up. Leave tons of messages. He doesn’t get it! If you could sell out your own state who voted you into office your are heartless. Furthermore the Ohio people who would agree he is good for them. I am in Michigan not working for 7 months. I have used almost all my savings. I have the internet still but I have to reason with them and my phone company to not cut me off. This is ridiculous. I have paid into unemployment for over 30 years and where is it when I need it. THIS COUNTRY IS NOT A DICTATORSHIP. What’s next. Lock us up in prison for falling from middle class to lower class. New People you should be ashamed of your self not putting coverage on this. Whats a matter 3 million people is not enough for you? HERE IS OUR REPRESENTATIVES PHONE NUMBER LEAVE MESSAGES NOW. PRETEND THIS IS THE VOICE. THE VOICE THAT COUNTS! THE AMERICANS. OR NOT. 202-225-0600 GOOD LUCK!

What do we have to do to get the mainstream media (T.V.) to cover this. I searched MSNBC, CNN and Fox websites and they haven’t covered this story since mid April. The unemployment extensions concern millions of Americans, yet we see no information concerning this on t.v.

  • Daniel Ryan

Um last I checked it was Corporate Sponsors who buy the commercial segments to fund air time for all Major News Networks. So ask a CEO how he feels about the unemployed and you ll get your answer. But seriously these are the same networks Pres. Obama and democrats were partying with over the weekend while cracking jokes on the unemployed…

    • Daniel

The joke was ” If you want to get paid for doing nothing you have to run for Congress like the rest of us”

Did you try to turn that around on purpose or are you just stupid?

      • Daniel Ryan

It was an indirect attack on unemployment and you know it. And that wasnt the whole joke. It begins…”Republicans dont want to extend UI and I now am beginning to feel the same…”

  • Lynne

OH something else. I came up with a great idea and wanted to share it with our Michigan representative. I told him to email me or call me do you think he did? I wanted to give them something that would include job creation. Well they keep saying we are lazy and not trying to find a job! I figured let them deposit the money in our account (that they owe us for Unemployment Extensions) and turn we in a work search and as they receive it and validate we are looking the money comes out weekly or bi-weekly. Wow this is easy that would prove we are trying. Furthermore its a good record that someone over there is actually checking what is going on. Job creation how can we all get jobs when there is 30 of us for every resume put in. Furthermore all of our money is going to immagration. Really? Bring more people in and pay for them and say the hell with Americans! My job(s) have had a hiring freeze since last November. Why don’t they penalize the companies for not hiring. Yay I know that is an oximoran but it makes no sense they are penalizing us.

  • biggin

just an excuse for Boehner to deny a vote. the only jobs Boehner wants created is the pipeline. If they said ok we will approve the pipeline, Boehner would have it voted on tomorrow because he and the Koch brothers would be richer

Only brain-dead idiots at this point are ignorant enough to blame anyone else beside the ‘bagger led GOP Congress in the House. It is Merlot soaked Traitor Boehner and the ‘bagger crazies that are starving Americans and letting them lose their homes all because of an insane hatred of the black man in the White House. They must be voted out or they will be doing the same thing to the woman in the White House – Hillary.

    • Daniel

Yes it’s blackmail with millions of Americans lives in the balance. This is disgusting and if it’s not it should be a crime.

he thinks he is protecting the republicans that would vote against the bill in the house, but he Is making the country hate all republicans come election time. the best I can think is he is an undercover democrat trying to destroy the republicans form the inside out.

  • Daniel Ryan

Boehner is not really the one doing any of this but at least he is the one holding up for it. The Executive Office has orchestrated this entire ordeal with their Corporate Campaign Sponsors and it seems to going beautifully until people start to actually pay close attention but by then June will have arrived and EUC is a dead bill.

    • http://bbsnews.net/ Michael Hess

Boehner and the House Republicans, the ‘bagger led GOP is doing this, President Obama has NOTHING to do with it. Turn off Faux News. This is entirely the doing of the ‘bagger led GOP who has Boehner by the short hairs because of their race hatred for the black man in the White House.

The Government is trying to kill the american people via genocide. Termination of the weaker, by not signing this bill they have left families in despair. President Obama WHERE Are you, how can you let this happen???

    • http://bbsnews.net/ Michael Hess

Civics 101. President Obama does not handle the purse strings, the US Congress does in the House of Representatives. President Obama cannot wave a magic wand to restore these benefits. Put the blame where it lies, with John Boehner and the ‘bagger led GOP. They hate the black man in the White House so bad that these “Republicans” (not you grandpa’s real Republicans) will starve Americans, cause them to lose their homes, and stand in the way of jobs just to try and make President Obama look bad. Don’t let the low information voters, the Faux News voters win, vote Democrat and get rid of these anti-American fools and vote in progressives for the good of the country.

      • Mike

I am so glad I found someone who knows 101 Civics. In middle school we were taught Congress, that is House of Reps Make the Laws, President Administers’ the Laws and Judicial Branch Enforce the Laws. All Appropriations must come from Congress. Executive Order can be done, but the should be used for temporary measures which do not appropriate any funds. So yes we have a bone head, oops should have said Boehner, wanting to give corporations $184B, tax break and a $8B, Unemployment extention, go figure.

      • Elizabeth

        Well said Michael!

      • unemployedNurse

I totally agree the blame is in Boehner court, however i feel strongly that President Obama needs to make a stand and put Boehner in his place on EUC, which is so essential for me and so many others to survive. The grade school fighting has got to stop and our BLACK MAN needs to put him in his place!!!Executive order like Obama said “He has a pen and a phone and will use it” to move legislation through. I WANNA SEE HIM DO IT!!! WHAT IS HE WAITING FOR??

    • Shizue Leigh Hicks

We’re “collateral damage.” Us dying off would be just like Scrooge said, “decreasing the surplus population.” BOEHNER has said, in so many words, the poor are expendable. Having no money certainly makes one poor.

      • erick

Next Boehner plans to have the elderly, the poor, and the unemployed euthanized as useless eaters, then he will return their cremated remains to their families in a jar with Heinrich Himmlers autograph on the jar.

Boehner and Obama have the MASTER PLAN TO Create JOBS IF THEY DEPORT ALL IMMIGRANTS THAT’S IN THE USA IT WOULD BE JOBS FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN AND YOUR GRAND CHILDREN YOU CAN’T GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY WITHOUT A PASS PORT BUT YET EVERYBODY CAN COME HERE AND REAP ALL THE BENEFIT. AMERICAN’S BUILT THIS COUNTRY YOU TRY THAT IN ANOTHER COUNTRY AND SEE WHAT HAPPEN TO YOU.WHAT’S REALLY HAPPENING

  • http://bbsnews.net/ Michael Hess

Boehner, being so easily led by the ‘baggers he seems indistiguisable from them, is a traitor to Americans who are losing their homes because of ‘bagger led GOP efforts to stymy the black man in the White House, and kill any chance at jobs or unemployment for those who cannot find them. Boycott Boehner’s family bar in Ohio, picket it, and pull a staright Democrat ticket in November and vote these anti-American proven Domestic Terrorists out of office and send them back under the rock that they slithered from.

Obama needs Boehner to blame as much a Republican needs a Democrat to blame. They openly condemn one another’s policies yet when the cameras are off they play devils advocate with millions of lives and trillions of dollars. Harry Reid seems to think John Boehner “Is just the nicest guy” I bet his press publicist got onto him from not reading directly from the script…

  • http://bbsnews.net/ Michael Hess

So “darrell” you don’t even know what a leftist is so why try and comment on the subject?

Boehner and his ‘bagger led GOP House is responsible for the lack of jobs and the stalling on unemployment benefits making people starve and lose their homes. Put the blame where it belongs, the Republicans. They are evil in their race hatred of President Obama and they will destroy the country trying to get him. Pull straight Democrat in November and send these slimeball, terrorist traitors to America back under their Moral Majority rocks.

I cant believe Pres.Obama put Nancy Pelosi up to that stunt yesterday on a moments notice because it was obvious she didnt have time to fully rehearse her lines. “Its too late, now its all over we cant go back inside the court house because our cameras are set up for another press conference across town.” Yeah more like they were chasing off every one wearing a press badge when the republicans called their bluff.

    • Daniel

Get over it. I’m thankful they did that even if it was melodramatic. The press doesn’t seem to want to report the suffering of 3 million Americans at the hands of one man.

They will happily write articles when we give our “aid” in the form of Billions of dollars to other countries.

Yeah she made a big stink and got the attention of the press. I say good job and thank you Nancy.

Called their bluff? I’d say this was calculated to shame the obstruction party that is hurting Americans.

    • Ava’s Granddad

It’s called bringing much needed attention to a very real problem that Boehner and the anti-Senate’s bill, Republicans and the media have ignored, at the expense of millions of America citizens. This is a struggle. A war, minus violence on American soil and the long-term unemployed are being held hostage by Boehner, Cantor and the other non-caring Republicans who don’t mind sacrificing members of their own Party, to try to make our President appear weak and ineffective. Let’s see what the Republicans (and the Koch brothers and the Tea Party ) will do, now that President Obama has told them that he’s vetoing the House tax break for businesses, bill, unless they pass the unemployment extention. Sec. Perez is in a great position to know the truly adverse affect this continued delay to extend unemployment has on the long-term unemployed and their families and the economy and he knows that implementation of the bill can be done.

  • tohottie85

This sounds great!! But reading that response from Michael Steel, come the F On!!!!! Such BS, he’s just saying what boehner probably told him to say, it’s the same damn thing over and over again, they say it doesn’t create jobs. Perez basically said come on let’s get this done! We will work with on this, exactly what boehner said before the break. The balls in their court. Well, here it is, straight from the White House’s mouth! This frankly is the best news yet, because it comes from the White House admin. This has to work! Seems to me, no matter what is said, boehner always fires back with the same damn statement. He has nothing else to say, he just hates the middle class so much. Hell, why not just pass it, no worse can come from it, no worse. It’s the best thing to do for the economy right now!!!! And for the people!

    • Chicken

That is what I really don’t get… It’s like just pass the damn bill.. What is it going to hurt?

    • dwayne myrie

      damn good comment tohottie85

  • Daniel

John Boehner should not hold his chair. There is no way this guy should be speaker of the house. He is clearly motivated by some misguided principles. They are willing to work with him and give him whatever he wants to do this and he says no.

I don’t understand what’s so bad about helping Americans. These war mongers have no problem giving our tax dollars to other countries but God forbid we pass this bill.

If anyone has had any doubts as to the sincerity of the Speaker and his party just read this article and the actual letter. It’s unbelievable he continues to do this and quite clear he is sandbagging our nation.

While we have checks and balances with regards to power, the House and what the President can do I feel that Speaker Boehner is a “Clear and present Danger” to our economy and should be removed.

If it is known and can be proved that he is hurting our economy on purpose he truly is a traitor. I will NEVER forget this and I hope people start to see this for what it is.

Economic Sabotage and treason against the American people. There should be hearings with Mr. Boehner answering for his actions.

I think he should be charged with a crime, I do.

    • Surfer4314

Reid has not brought to the Senate floor one bill from Republicans in 7 years , Yes that is 7 years. Check your facts.

  • SICKOFITALL

FIRE HIS SORRY SELF! MAKE HIM LIVE ON WELFARE AND SEE HOW LONG HE LASTS! HE IS A WORTHLESS, OVERPAID HUMAN BEING!

  • Daniel Ryan

You cant just hold one man, John Boehner, accountable for this. He is being told what to do by the President this time around. Republicans will run the next election on reforming the GOP image in America and Democrats will run on this very issue. Nothing gets done either way but at least the Boehner holds up for his wrong. I believe Pres. Obama is an very old devil within because he is wonderful at masquerading as an angel of light to weary eyes. If you look closer you will see a weak inward man with a needy personality. I think his mom and dad messed him up

    • Chicken

Uh no… But thanks for playing

    • tohottie85

SMH, you just started a war of words my friend. John Boehner is the DEVIL, not the president! Wake the F up!! Boehner is the one and only person who has the power to wake up one morning and say okay, let’s have a vote on UI. I hope people fire back at you for your comment!

      • Daniel Ryan

I think boehner is a tool for the devil don’t get me wrong but he doesnt act when the cameras are on. thats the democrats lately

        • Ava’s Granddad

Daniel Ryan. So, President Obama is the culprit and Speaker Boehner is innocent! WTH! Are you serious? How may times have we heard from Boehner’s own lips that he would block the Senate’s bill. If President Obama could, he would have signed an extention into law, a long time ago and millions of unemployed citizens would not have to suffer. Believe me, there has been entirely too much sufferage, as a result of Boehner’s obstruction of Congress.

          • Daniel Ryan

If President Obama wanted to do something for the unemployed he would have 5 months ago. He is only the most powerful man in the world. Its called an executive order and his administration has passed over 20. But those were for punks to pretend to like theyre married

          • Todd F Kline

Yeah Daniel Ryan that makes Bonehead right and a good guy.. Durp

          • Ava’s Granddad

Daniel Ryan, I too (and I’m sure millions of others) have questioned why President Obama haven’t used his executive powers to just sign the extention bill into law. Or just authorize the releasement of the benefit checks that were cut off last Dec. But I’m told that for some legal reason, he can’t act on his own. I hope that his threat to veto the House tax bill, Nancy Pelosi orchestrating the protest interview, public denouncements from GOP Senators, Representatives and Govenors and Sec. Perez offer to negotiate, bring this emergency issue to a swift end. This will be resolved, I just pray that those affected, directly, are able to bounce back from the poverty. This should have never happened. Nothing should have prevented a sitting President from exercising his executive authority when there is proven harm to American citizens and Congress fails to act.

          • Ava’s Granddad

So, you have a problem with our sitting President (and appear to give Speaker Boehner a pass for denying over 3 million citizens unemployment ) and your homophobic! Man, who cares what two consenting adults, choose to do with their lives. I applaud the President for recognizing that love should have no color or genderwhen it comes to marriage. Being African-American,I’m aware of the sting of discrimination and it’s not a plesant feeling. I believe that all of us, long-term unemployed, are being discriminated by Speaker Boehner and some members of Congress. Claiming that were lazy! Before I lost my job (and have an arbitration grievance for reinstatement pending) at absolutely no fault of my own, I worked 23 years on the job, assisting mental and physically challenged adults. I paid my taxes for the last 37 years.

    • http://bbsnews.net/ Michael Hess

Daniel, don’t be silly. John Boehner is being held hostage by the ‘baggers. This is been a well known fact in every piece of legislation that would provide jobs and provide relief to average Americans. The ‘baggers are beholden to the transnationals and they rule Boehner. He is a traitor, his family bar in Ohio shoud be picketed, he should be out for being pickled in Merlot, smoking in the Capital, and his extramarital affairs should be exposed and front page news. The ‘bagger led GOP are Domestic Terrorists proven over and over again. Why do some Americans hate America and the black man in the White House so much that they vote these anti-American Taliban wannabees into office?

    • Ava’s Granddad

Daniel Ryan. That is so inappropriate to make silly comments about President Obama’s parenting. I don’t think that a week individual, would have reached the highest office in America.

  • Tony

I want to know why we keep giving his job back! Hear me Ohio!!!

  • donna

Boehner is holding fast to the Hastert Rule. The Majority party, which happens to be Republican, does not want the bill pass, so the Majority speaker will not schedule the bill for a vote, even though the bill would pass in five minutes if it went on the floor. The Majority party is holding the bill back until it receives something in return and it is not jobs for us. Here is the clue. “create more private-sector jobs.” That sentence is code for corporate welfare and rape of consumer protections. Check out their proposed job plans online. All for them and again, no jobs for us. Their plan creates jobs in Colombia, Panama, and South Korea. The wages in China and India are becoming too expensive and it is time for corporate unAmerica to offshore again.

For all of you hoping that this bill will pass so that you can bring your mortgages current, file bankruptcy before it is too late. The lifeline you are hoping for from Congress is not coming.

    • Chicken

Well I think Obama have a play in the potential veto of the tax cuts. He basically said pass unemployment extension before I let this pass.

  • Son of a Preach

Writing letters…? Are we in grade school here? Can’t these guys get each other’s phone numbers?

  • drhoops

Mr. Perez, NOW you’ve decided to reach out to Boehner to try and resolve this.
Were you on vacation the last 4 moths?
You think just extending it to the end of May even makes sense when we will be right back in this same ridiculous situation again?
You might as well swing for the fences and go for the entire 2014 year since he’s not going to give in anyway. Otherwise you’re naïve and wasting your time.
You can’t embarrass him or the Republicans. The Democrats have been trying that for months and it doesn’t work. So unless your co-workers can think outside of the box and become more creative, these clowns are going to go on their summer vacation and the Democrats who I’ve voted for my whole life have failed me.
This bill should have been rammed thru in December with the budget but Reid wanted to use this as a political football and misread the entire scenario. Now he’s screwed millions of unemployed Americans.
When we all don’t vote in November, you’ll know why.

    • Chicken

He is talking about a SPECIFIC BILL that is already ready to go… Yes it is short at this point but it is something and available NOW.

  • Shizue Leigh Hicks

Secretary Perez, everyone wishes you the best including hungry, homeless veterans, mothers, fathers, children, aged-out workers! According to the May 2. 2014 Employment Situation Report (USDL-14-0701) from the US Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics there are 3.5 MILLION OF US LONG-TERM UNEMPLOYED who are praying. Good luck, Secretary Perez, and THANK YOU!

  • Caseyv

Like I said a couple months ago this will never pass. Give up people and good luck to all of you.

  • http://batman-news.com Robert Block

Boehner already knows this would create more jobs but will still refuse and does not care becuase Ohio voters will never vote him out of office.
He doesn’t care about creating jobs its just a put on.

  • Daniel Ryan

I keep getting censored but once again that is the Sec. of Labor dont you think he knows who is affected by this not to mention that our Real Unemployment Rate is around 13% and not the 6 or 7% the White House uses in its formal press statements. This is writing off the collateral damage of two wars and a bunch of bad loans…. Perez also knows we have to stop printing money in June to let all the funny money catch back up with our GDP since the dollar will no longer be the world’s reserve currency but the Japanese dollar

  • Daniel Ryan

Its going to get bad out here, why you think Bernanke got the hell out the Federal Reserve when he did. We have no idea how much money this man printed

  • Yonatan YONATAN

Those people who think that the unemployed are “lazy”, and prefer collecting unemployment benefits, have no clue of the reality facing these families. Most of these people had long term employment, and had families to support. The majority of them are “older” Americans, who had worked for many years, paying into the system, should they become unemployed, and needed financial assistance. These workers through no fault of their own, found themselves victims of corporate downsizing, and were laid off from their jobs. Given the current economic recession, they have had a particularly difficult time finding employment. Also, many companies are not motivated to hire “older” workers, due in part of the higher cost of health care insurance for older workers. Older workers, just on the basis of their age, would be placed in a “higher risk” group, which would affect the potential employer’s bottom line cost. As we all know, it’s all about profit and “the bottom line”. Since last December, more than 2.6 million workers have been without unemployment benefits. The republican senate has held the extension bill “HOSTAGE”, in the hopes of getting the XL Oil Pipeline passed by the president. This has NEVER been about these unfortunate families, but only about pleasing the lobbyist for whom they truly serve. While the republicans continue playing “party politics”, and using these families for political leverage, and as bargaining chips, these families have had to face evictions, home foreclosures, personal bankruptcy, and homelessness. Most of them have watched their credit being destroyed, because of lack of money to pay their bills on time, or at all. How many more families have to become homeless and destitute before the senate finally PASSES the extension bill? This truly is a national crime against the American family. While the politicians live their affluent and privileged lifestyles, with all the perks of office, these families continue to suffer and struggle to eat and to live

    • erick

This is the class war in action.

  • http://batman-news.com Robert Block

Unemployment is alot higher than they claim.
They just add in “people who have left the workforce ” or “people who have stop looking for work” WHATEVER THAT MEANS. Fancy way of fixing the numbers for the media. Look employment is great.

  • Arthur Ellin

Seems like Democrats don’t really want this bill to pass. If they were serious about passage, they would call Boehner’s bluff and add something that could be called a jobs-creation bill. Actually, if they were serious, this would have been included in the Murray-Ryan grand compromise. Boehner is correct when he says that he has been demanding a job-creation provision since last December. If that’s just an excuse, Dems should test him. After watching Harry Reid slowly, grudgingly add a “pay for” (only after reintroducing the same failed legislation a couple of times) and after watching the White House serve up the same old statements, I think Dems want this to fail. It’s a good campaign issue for them.

    • Chicken

All Boehner wants is XL Pipeline or changes to the Affordable Care Act. Furthermore he is not stating exactly what he wants.

      • erick

Boehner wants to reduce the 99% working class to the status of 3rd world peasants who must accept austerity and poverty, while giving tax breaks and subsidies to his 1% supporters. He is doing this very effectively.

      • Icare

The only reason he says nothing is that if he said what he wanted it would just mirror what is being offered.

    • erick

If the republicans really wanted to create jobs for Americans, then they would not have opposed the “Bring Jobs Home Act of 2012″–S. 1549. If the republicans really want to reduce the tax burden on small business, then they would pass the “Inclusive Prosperity Act of 3013″–HR 1579. This would impose a tax on wall street financial transactions (FTT).

  • http://batman-news.com Robert Block

Politics is not the same anymore as it was the past. The Supreme Court changed this when they allowed funding PACS. Now its all about big corp and big money funding. The little guy is done.

    • erick

The tax payers paid for the 7.7 trillion dollar bail out of the wall street banks. It will be impossible to out spend the financial class in their propaganda campaigns in the next election cycle. The corrupt corporations and the swindling wall street drug money launders will have the upper hand. The supreme court ruled that corporations have free speech rights to donate money to campaigns, and wealthy drug money launders can make maximum political donations to candidates.

stops the almost 3 millions of unemployed to get their Edd Benefits to Survive.
Boe! Boe! John Boehner. You are a Dictactor.

Hmmm doing the right thing to better your image is wrong and Its OK to openly do the wrong thing though because even if you have the final say and total control, idiots will try to convince you that its somebody else fault? Its ok to believe in what you believe in but think not everyone is as dumb as.. well you know who you are…. Or maybe not? Is it possible to just make real sense and logic of this whole situation. Obama has had 5 months. Its called an executive order and he has already passed over 20. W only passed 3 both his terms in office but granted Obamas executive orders were to force men of God to marry sodomites anyway After June rolls around EUC will crumble and Obama will pass tax extenders without a doubt.

  • Dan Thomas

The XL pipeline will create 3900 temporary construction jobs and 35 permanent jobs. The oil right now is being transported by rail which will stop so there will be some jobs lost there. The unemployment extension bill will create 300,000 jobs. So is job creation really the hold up here? Or could there be an alternative motive? Or is Boehner just really bad at math?

  • Dolly

  • http://marknmays.com Mark Mays

Boehner may be one man but he represents his party. His party needs a win going into midterms. He’s trying to hold this hostage over some tax cut (the GOP’s only “job creation measure”) while he excites his party’s base with some Benghazi crap. The only way this gets done is a deal with Obama. Obama doesn’t want to look weak. The public is not interested in EUC because most ppl aren’t affected. Since the public isn’t interested the media isn’t. Unless Obama is willing to go out on a limb, which isn’t his style, I think chances are slim right now. Maybe the veto threat will work.

    • Ava’s Granddad

I believe of the 199 Democrats in the House, all but 6 (and I can’t understand this) have signed. I also believe that zero Republicans, including the ones who say they are for the extension, have signed.

  • Dolly

We need to bring EUC for Debate in the House of Representative, John Boehner rejects and stops it.Not all of the Republicans are against EUC.

    • Ava’s Granddad

Dolly you are so right about the after effects, mainly emotional, many people will continue to suffer after unemployment is extended. For some, it may be too late. The House Republicans who are for the extention should stand up and sign the Democrat’s discharge petition, to bring the Senate’s bill to a vote. Instead, they’re hiding behind Speaker Boehner, in the name of closed rank. All the Democrats need are 17 brave Republicans. The press conference, held by Nancy Pelosi would have been more effective if one Republican Senator or Representative had been there in support. On Dec. 28, 2013, this was the Democrats in Congress blame, but now, over 4 months later, the blame falls only on Speaker Boehner and the Republicans, shoulders.

  • EKF

The one thing that Boehner is very ignorant about is that first of all you had to be working to get employment benefits in the first place. Some folks have been paying into it for over 50 years and this is their first time drawing the benefits. One would think after paying into the system or that long that they would be entitled to more than 26 weeks. That’s insane. Secondly a lot of folks have cleaned out their savings, borrowed, robbed Peter to pay Paul to make ends meet and take care of their families. One thing that has happened that I have not heard mentioned ONE time. Because many folks have lost their jobs they have had to do things and in some cases skip bills to eat and in that process they have messed up their credit score. Well guess what Mr. Boehner, these days many companies look at your credit score and if it is less than favorable they don’t even call you back. Guarantee you this is why many don’t even hear back when they submit their resumes. Their credit score could have been great before they lost their job due to no fault of their own. That is the reason the long term unemployed are having the hardest time. What Boehner is doing does not help and is only ruining peoples lives and credit scores even more. Mr. Boehner can’t be that naieve? What he is doing is intentional and a crime against the American people!

  • Dolly

You think it’s criminal? Do you know some people commit suicide because not be able to survive and find a job is sad. I’m sure there is a way to stop John Boehner, only 1 man, to stop him to debate EUC and ruin millions of american’s life.

  • david

Fiscally responsible? Are you god damned serious?

    > “EUC plan must be fiscally responsible and be paid for”

    > “Let’s give more corporate tax breaks to the rich, that aren’t paid for. The republicans back it, so it doesn’t have to be paid for. lol @ the deficit”

That’s basically the gist of that.

    “We need job creation measures”
What? How many times do you need to be told YOU’RE KILLING JOBS by not extending this? Do you need it beat into your head, or what? I can’t fathom how a person can be either this stupid, willfully ignorant, or just flat out brazen to the point of hoping he gets injured horribly. YOU WILL HELP OUR ECONOMY, AND HELP CREATE JOBS BY EXTENDING UNEMPLOYMENT. It’s not a hard concept to grasp. When bush did it however, he was a conservative f#$%#ing hero. But because the evil black man POTUS supports it, then it can’t be good. They are simply holding this legislation hostage as a means to force f&*$k their own garbage through the house, knowing it would never have a chance otherwise. Boehner and his band of blowhards are treasonous pieces of garbage who have completely sold out their fellow americans. I hope the people in every one of these assholes districts wise up, and vote them out. This is absolutely ridiculous already.

  • Dolly

The Republicans in the House of Representatives have the majority. So it’s no more the Democracy. They sort what it for Debate and what is not. It’s what John Boehner is doing: he stops, rejects whatt the Republicans wants to vote and it goes to Debate, the rest is rejected for Debate. It’s easy for them what they want it’s what they get because they have the majority.

  • EKF

Also the Boehner knows that extending the EUC will create new jobs and that will also lower he unemployment rate. He does not want that to happen. The rate is already going down and since all the rant and raving over Obamacare didn’t work and he knows it is a success the GOP had nothing else to fall back on. They are running out of options and this is his last sick attempt to discredit President Obama. Boy will he and his cronies be surprised in November just like they were when Pres. Obama won his second term and they will certainly lose their minds when 2016 come and we have our first female president. Thanks to the internet the wool can no longer be pulled over the American public. We know what the 1% is all about. Just hope the zombies following their coattails wake up and smell the coffee. A lot have already seen the light! Enjoy it while you can Mr. Boehner… Your time is coming.

  • Dolly

So what want the Democrats is rejected for Debate because the Republicans say no. They have the majority and can stop the possible Debate.

  • Dolly

I watch daily the House of Representative debates and votes on TV.
It’s all secondary to compare to the poverty due to unemployment issues raising. They talked and sent money abroad and left people in the poverty and ignore their own fellowmen in emergency needs. It should have the 1st priority. It’s going to cost a lot a lot of money for the Government to fix all the emotional, physical and health issues of all these people who are going to be homeless and in debts because they have no job, NO incomes because of 1 person John Boehner.

The Keystone pipeline should be stopped, it is not going to put me or my Husband back to work and it certainly will not put any money in my pocket or yours for that matter. Have the oil compainies lowered gas since the war is over? No, but they sure have made billions. The Republicans, I am sad to say are only the party for the very very Rich. They hate the middle class and have continued to destroy us slowly but surely. Prior to being unemployed, I was making a third of what I made ten years ago, my house is worth of half of what it was, and my savings is gone. Yeah, let’s give more tax breaks to the “job creators” because then they pass it to their employees in the way of wages or so the theory goes. LOL. This is madness.

  • Ava’s Granddad

Arthur Ellin. I agree. The Democrats should add job creation language to the Senate’s bill, the President should sign the bill into law, the unemployment checks should be issued retroactively and immediate, the government should set up counseling services, free of charge, for any person directly affected by Congress incredibly long failure to act, an investigative committee should be selected to determine if Speaker Boehner’s decision to block a vote to help millions of American citizens, was due to an alliance with the Koch brothers and Tea Party and not with regards to the people of America and a committee needs to investigate why this suffering of millions, due to Congress, as a whole, failure to extend the E.U.C. program, an established past practice, ever happened.

  • Jodie Mcgruer

Here is another example of politics as usual. The Republicans want to make the Obama administration look bad by holding them over a barrel. One man holds the fate of 3 million people and continues to ignore the needs of the people. The people in his own district that voted him into office. I know so many of them truly regret that decision. I truly doubt that John Boehner is taking the time to read any of these comments. His actions have shown that he doesn’t care that much about what the people have to say. Everyone needs to go http://www.petitions.whitehouse.gov to sign the petition to allow President Obama to sign an executive order to extend the benefits.

For some reason i get his Gobbles like propaganda. So let us send him the truth over the lies.

And when you do, cause this man does not read his own mail. Let those that do, know the pain what is happening every minute of everyday! Put pressure on his staff. They might be overwhelmed with the pain of millions. Cause the Orange One really does not care.

The douches is now CSPAN now. But not talking about giving the EUC. Talking about everything else, but US.

And the the Bengus boondoggle to raise money.

  • Jeff_P

Make it personal to them. They might still have a soul?

  • Jeff_P

god he is like the high school “A” list that many of us hated. Cause of their arrogance. He has about 200% going for him.

who really are these kock suckers?

  • Tim

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE JOHN BOEHNER…. PERFERABLY DEAD…

  • Jeff_P

and yaa. Lets waist time on Charter Schools. That and this is another way of the failure of this party.

This only insures that public schools will only get the kids of problems homes, not fault of their homes, to be placed back and fail where they end up.

See, charter schools can and will “dump” back into the publics schools those that they consider trouble. I watched first hand this happen to the school my kids went to and then was closed due to “performance”. I was part for years as a parent that was part their “PTA”. They are not any different than private schools. Yet tax payers pay for this discrimination.

This was a school that was loaded with low income, english as a second language, white, hispanic, black, asian, russian etc etc. The melting pot that we as Americans are suppose to be.

E pluribus unum Latin for “Out of many, one”

Yet the right wing wants it to be, Out of many, white and christian. :) It seems like this is the KKK without the hoods?

Guess I need to get my conceal and carry like my friends who are Christian and like Ted Nuggent? Go figure. About as anti Christian as the come. The hypocrisy of my past friends. ;) a tear is shade for them.

  • Jeff_P

Did a little little conversion from English to Latin for, Out of many, white and christian only. Let us put that on our money?

I find it very frustrating that when the FAT CATS of wall street needed
$$ so they could get their million dollar bonuses. The government
couldn’t move quick enough to help them who didn’t need it.. I owned my
own business successfully, until a corporate giant moved in next to me
and gobbled me up (they moved in tax free for 18 months btw) then I
moved to an engineering firm and was downsized due to the economic crash
a few years back. I live in a depressed area. I know am losing my home
of 13 years which I broke my back to get so my family could have a nice
modest home in a great school district. I am so frustrated. I have
NEVER felt poor in my life until now. I paid into this insurance. I
would RATHER work, but I have been told by multiple interviewers they
want people who are working,,, What!? I have over 800 resumes and have
done a handful of interviews and it is always the same story, ” Your
telling me you couldn’t find a job in 8 months”. YES! that is what I am
telling you.. I am overqualified for McDonald’s and since it is an
employers market they are asking for ridiculous skills that have NOTHING
to do with the job so I am now underqualified for those.. The
Employment INS is a lifeline to keep lights on and is the only way I can
afford fuel and travel to get to intervews a STATE away. I have
recently had to NOT GO ON AN INTERVIEW because I just couldn’t afford to
go. Way to go Boehner. Enjoy your paid vacations 3 times a month. I
challenge him to live without ANY INCOME for 1 month not the 6 we have
been waiting JUST ONE MONTH and see if you can pay your light bill..

I have some serious questions? if 99% of us is middle cldirectoor why do we put Republican in office? Understand that if you are not filthy rich you are not apart of the 1%. If there are only 1%, do their families and friends and people just vote republican to go along? Because this doesn’t add up. Or is it a race thing and whites don’t want to be in the same class as blacks? Which would automatically make whites republican. Understand that if you are middle class you are not far from being poor. But you’re really far from being filthy rich. So if you do have a job now you might need sources to fall back on.. such as unemployment extended benefits for example. Voting republican wouldn’t help because they’re trying to cut the very benefits that help the people. Look or google the Paul Ryan budget. And ask yourself is this what you want for your friends and family? Not only unemployment cuts but medicare, medicaid, food stamps, and next would be social security to go. Next take notes on how they want to pass the $300 billion tax breaks permanent with no offsets to big corporations. The jobs go overseas for cheaper labor and operations cost. While avoiding tax loopholes saving corporations billions. One reason they have so much money to waste lobbying in their own interest. Logically one would think if you are the 99%, 1% don’t stand a chance, so how is this so. People need to stop raising there kids as racist and understand we are one under a government. Vote in you and your families best interest. If you are republican and you’re not rich and wealthy I want to know why vote republican? Is it because your parents are? Or because your best friend or social group are republicans? We need to change the way we think…this should be a wake up call..also democrats aren’t perfect but seem to be leaning in the 99% direction

      • dianemou604

Because a lot of people are just not getting it! I’m the first to admit that I’m somewhat disappointed in Obama. However, the fact the Mitt Romney had all the corporate heads backing him should of clearly been a cautionary sign to the middle class and poor of who’s interest he was going to protect.

  • BOB

get it approved asap what are u thinking people are hurting here its just getting worse….

  • Cynthia Dobbins

Is it any secret that Boehner’s agenda is dictated by the Koch family? It isn’t about what is right or wrong, it is about having to do for those who line your pockets.

    • dianemou604

A scary thing is happening… More and more billionaires and heads of industries are moving into political positions. In New York, the former Mayor Bloomberg (head of Bloomberg Industries) practically became a dictator trying to enact laws telling people what they can eat and drink. Just because these people are capable of generating billions by out-sourcing corporate jobs to other countries doesn’t mean they should be running our country!

  • Cynthia Dobbins

How is it that one man can hold millions of American’s hostage for his political gain? When the Somali pirates took American hostages we terminated their lives in short order. Yet Boehner has millions of the unemployed as hostages and nobody is going after him.

  • Mark

For all of you expecting retro pay, please read the following. Contact your own State if you think differently.

If you were in Tier 1 you will finish Tier 1 as it is not tied to TUR.

    • Caseyv

Pretty sure that depends on the state. I live in NY and I have called them and they said I would get all my back pay even being in tier two. Doesn’t matter anyways because they are not going to pass it.

      • Mark

Correct…as it stands now tier 2 is active…once it falls below 6 %…its not…double check on Tier 2 once it falls below 6 %

  • Allen hill

This is a complicated question. Far too many people who do not deserve it are collecting unemployment compensation. Far too many who do not deserve it are collecting welfare and food stamps and Medicaid. This is the time to let your Senator and member of the House of Representatives know that you are tired of government incompetence and bickering. You can do that via the internet by calling up their website and sending an email. Tell them to get something done and if you do not like what they have done, become a non partisan, Independent voter and vote your conscience and not a party. To simply let off steam on Yahoo, Disqus or whatever will not do much good.

    • erick

Far too many wall street banks received the 7.7 trillion dollar bail out that they did not deserve. Far too many corrupt corporations receive tax breaks that they did not deserve.

      • Allen hill

You are correct, erick. Is your point that all these wrongs make a right?

        • erick

No! My point is not that two wrongs make a right. What is your criterion for who deserves unemployment benefits, food stamps, or Medicaid, or general relief? All of these programs have qualification procedures. When unemployment reaches a certain level federal extended unemployment benefits have been granted for the last 40 years. It is time to throw the money lenders out of the temple of our society. Write your representatives and convince them to pass S.1282–the”21st Century Glass-Steagall Act of 2013″, and HR 129 the “Return to Prudent Banking Act of 2013″.

          • Allen hill

Not my point either. It is up to the officials to decide. Not you; not me. Someone has to decide when enough is enough. And that does not include those who wail and whine and scream on the internet. And if you are looking for a job, as a former Employment Manager who never did it, I know that Employment Managers and creditors search the internet to spy on applicants. People have been fired for comments made on Facebook. So were I you, and I’m not and glad of it, you might want to tone down your uninformed opinions. Neither of us have the job those officials do. And frankly, many are incompetent and don’t care. I know. I worked for the State of GA for 3 months when I was 57. I then quit and told my idiot boss that after 30 years in the for-profit sector of the business world, I could see they would soon be bankrupt and they were incompetent, no good wasters of taxpayer money. I’m not writing them ABOUT THIS. I write them about many things. And it is obvious you know little about the Bible, though you refer to the incident when Jesus through the money changers and salesmen out of the Temple.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead atranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is goodand acceptable in the sight of God our Savior”.
Intercede for elected officials. You can pray that they would:

Recognize their personal sinfulness and need for the cleansing power of Jesus Christ, if
            they aren’t already saved.

Becomeaware of their inadequacy for the tasks before them, and pray for God’s wisdom,
            knowledge, understanding, and courage.

            Reject
all counsel that violates the spiritual principles of Scripture, and be willing
            to trust divine guidance.

          • erick

Thank you so much. I sincerely appreciate your information. Also, best of luck to you in your job search.

          • Allen hill

erick, sorry if I got a little rough. This doesn’t apply to you, but I get ruffled, particularly when I see comments on news story all over the internet written by Republican zealots and racists who scream for the blood of President Obama. I am doing what I can to inform those who may read a comment on various news stories and Facebook. I went to a private high school in Alabama, 1955-1959, whose graduates now number in the thousands. Most have an excellent education. many rom Ivy League schools. They have money, titles and they are racists and Republican zealots.

The young will have to fight in the next war. Parents and grandparents who are so vocally behind the Republicans and opposed to Obama had better consider that. I am now an Independent voter after being a Republican from 1962 -2007. I woke up. Read the below , research it yourself and I think you will agree that although we do not agree with all the President does, at present, the Republicans are dangerous.

Males, 18 to 25 must still sign up for the DRAFT. If there is a major war, the young will fight it. Parents and grandparents, before you fall for the LIES of FOX NEWS, REPUBLICAN LEADERS and RACISTS, remember that.

EVERY WAR or invasion against a country that did not attack the USA since 1953 was STARTED while a Republican President was in office. Read the facts below:

*1953* Republican President Eisenhower sent U.S. military advisers into Vietnam. By* 1961* Republican President Eisenhower sent 900 U.S. troops into Vietnam. Vietnam did not attack the USA. The USA attacked Vietnam because of a lie called the “Domino Theory” that our government put over on us. Would we in the USA stand for enemy troops on our soil?

*1961 to 1970*, the USA under Democrat Presidents Kennedy and LBJ sent hundreds of thousands of U.S. troops into Vietnam until the total reached 550,000 U.S. troops in Vietnam by 1968.

*1970* Republican President Nixon sent U.S. troops into Cambodia.

*1971 *Republican President Nixon continued sending in U.S. troops until he resigned in disgrace in 1974 because of the Watergate Scandal..

*1983* Republican President Reagan authorized Operation Urgent Fury, a 1983 United States-led invasion of Grenada, a Caribbean island nation with a population of about 91,000.

*1991 *Republican President Herbert Walker Bush fired missiles and sent U.S. troops into Iraq in Operation Desert Storm.

*2001 *Republican President George Walker Bush (aka “Dubya” Bush) sent U.S. troops into Afghanistan.

*2003* Republican George Walker Bush began the Iraq War.

            However:

*1941* Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt obtained declarations of war against Germany, Japan and Italy committed troops into WWII after the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor WWII was over for Germany when Hitler committed suicide April 30, 1945.

*1945* Democrat President Harry S. Truman authorized dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima, Japan and Nagasaki, Japan on August 6 and 9, 1941. and the Japanese surrendered on August 14, 1945

            Democrat President Barack Obama:

            *(1)* Eliminated *Osama bin laden.*

*(2) *Ordered all U.S. military forces out of* Iraq*.

(*3)* U.S. forces are scheduled to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
*(4)*Toppled *Libya’s Moammar Gaddafi* with a coalition of European and Arab governments in military action.

Republican President George W. Bush. March 2003. Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain. 2008. Criticized President Obama repeatedly for knowing terrorist Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright and racketeer, John Coli. 1993–McCain defended Lincoln S&L Chairman Charles Keating, Jr. who was later convicted of 73 counts of fraud costing thousands of Lincoln investors their life savings. Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney. 2012. Claimed Chrysler was moving jobs and the making of Jeeps to China. Chrysler smacked down Romney’s lie saying it is selling Jeeps to China and adding 1,100 workers to the Ohio Jeep plant. (Source: USNews.com). 2012, News anchor Chris Wallace challenged the Romney lie that “six different studies” said taxes could be lowered by cutting deductions, without busting the budget. Ryan did “request” stimulus money by writing Energy Secretary Chu and Labor Secretary Solis. Ryan “accepted” the money and one company received the stimulus cash. (Source: ABC News).
*A FEW FALSE STATEMENTS MADE BY REPUBLICAN MITT ROMNEY:*

Regulations have quadrupled. The rate of regulations quadrupled under this president.

President Obama has “doubled” the deficit.

Right now, the (Congressional Budget Office) says up to 20 million people will lose their insurance as Obamacare goes into effect next year.

The “48, 49 percent” that supports President Barack Obama are “people who pay no income tax.”

President Obama was saying success “is the result of government,” not “hard-working people,” when he said, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” (This was a gross distortionof what Obama said, Mr. Romney.)

Stimulus money went to buy electric cars from Finland as a payback to Obama supporters.

Obamacare puts the federal government between you and your doctor.

Dow Chemical decided to build a plant in Saudi Arabia rather than Oklahoma due to the impact of environmental regulations on the supply of natural gas.

Obamacare … means that for up to 20 million Americans, they will lose the insurance they currently have, the insurance that they like and they want to keep.”

Obamacare adds trillions to our deficits and to our national debt.

Barack Obama is the only president to ever cut $500 billion from Medicare.
The president gave the (auto) companies to the UAW.

This president went before the United Nations and castigated Israel for building settlements. He said nothing about thousands of rockets being rained in on Israel from the Gaza Strip.

President Barack Obama has opened up no new trade relationships with other nations. (Romney omitted deals with South Korea, Colombia, and Panama )

Eliminating “Obamacare” … “saves $95 billion a year.” (No, Mr. Romney, repeal of Obamacare would ultimately increase deficit )

The National Labor Relations Board told Boeing that it couldn’t build a factory in South Carolina because South Carolina is a right-to-work state.
Only one president has ever cut Medicare for seniors in this country . . . Barack Obama.

While the Benghazi attack was tragic, Benghazi, Libya attack occurred Sept 11, 2012 and 4 Americans were killed. Notice the following embassy attacks in 1983 during the Presidency of Republican President Ronald Reagan who was in office 1981 to 1989.

Oct 23, 1983 Hezbollah suicide truck bombings of U.S, and French military bases, Beirut, Lebanon: 242 Americans kill, 58 French killed.

Apr 18, 1983 Hezbollah suicide truck bomb at U.S .embassy in Beirut, Lebanon killed 63.

For listing of other bombings at embassy’s Google “List of attacks on diplomatic missions”.

What are your thoughts on how to improve the economy , and make a more efficient use of human capital? Please respond I value your opinions.

          • Allen hill

Erick, I am no guru so I will give you some observations I will first tell you about me. But I have nothing to boast about as I am a recovered alcoholic who read the Bible cover to cover after a brain aneurysm due to drinking too much for too long and alcohol, I learned, weakens the blood vessels in the brain. It took a year after that brain aneurysm for to heal and for me to read and study the entire Bible with the help of commentaries, Bible studies, church and Sunday schools (July 2010-July 2011). In January 2012 I was diagnosed with end-stage lymphoid leukemia, went into a coma for 3 days, woke up got chemo and radiation for a month and when the oncologist said, “You are doing quite well”, I said, “Well, doc, I have read the Bible cover to cover and I’m not afraid to die. I would rather be in heaven with God than in his sorry world anyway”. I am 72, B.S. Business Admin; 1964 Univ. of Alabama MBA Business Mgt; FSU 1969; 9 accounting courses age 57 to 59 at GA State-7 A’s, 2 Bs; Golden Key National Scholastic Honor Society, but that was in 1999; in college 1959-1963, I was a frat boy and could drink a load without puking or peeing myself and because of that, and my ability to lead others and coordinate great drunken parties and do what the others in the frat wouldn’t do to keep the frat running, I was President twice; Lt. U.S. Army 2 years active duty on DMZ Korea for 13 months, 1965-66 and my best friend and roommate was a black lieutenant; remainder of active duty was at Ft. Ord, California. Things got crazier than that. I wasn’t a gutter drunk. No jail. No DUIs. Just a common drunk after work like most folks who drink too much or smoke weed too much. This all would take so much time so I will do a no-no. Call me at (912) 281-7024. Then I will give you my email address and I will tell you what I think. I will not talk down to you or act all holier than thou. I have been a no-good many times in my life and I have no room to condemn anyone. Haven’t we all been no-good often in our lives? And please, for you others, do not call me with your garbage talk. I am not afraid of you crank callers who want to call and be obnoxious. I do not fear you or anyone. erick, for all I know this post or my number will be censured. If so, post to me again and we will figure another route.

          • erick

I have your in information. You can edit out anything you might think would violate your privacy,,ie your no no. I went to The university of California on an athletic scholarship. I hold a bachelors degree, 3 journeyman trade licenses, and 4 associate of arts degrees in trades. I have 3 pages of certifications on my resume. I have built computer chip plants ,oil refineries, nuclear power plants, medical research facilities, etc… It is most frustrating that when I apply and interview for jobs I am told that I can not be hired because I am over qualified. The economy is being mismanaged and the human capital is not being efficiently utilized.

          • Allen hill

erick, you have incredible credentials! Yours and mine and a $1.50 will buy us a cup of coffee. In my case, I think there is a use for my resume besides wasting it on job hunting. At 72 years old, job hunting is certainly a waste of time. So I copied it below.
I have been turned down for flipping burgers to stocking shelves. I look about 62, am 6’2″, 180, ride a bike 6 miles a day, lift dumbbells and am in better shape than probably 80% of men half my age. Some others my age are Harrison Ford, Chuck Norris, Paul McCartney, and Steven Segal. I am not a fundamentalist, snake handling, tongue speaking Christian. I am a Christian. And I would trade all the KNOWLEDGE I gained in schools for the WISDOM of the Bible.

I think I may be able to help you.

The THROW THE MONEY LENDERS OUT OF THE TEMPLE OF OUR SOCIETY quote was from FDR’s inaugural address in 1932. FDR was elected in November and he took office in February. During that winter 1/4 million Americans either starved to death or froze to death. When he assumed office he believed that he had a mandate. In his inaugural speech he stated that we are going to throw the money lenders out of the temple of our society. The speculators that caused this disaster can go thru the bankruptcy courts. Just as Alexander Hamilton created the first national bank of the united states, he would create the second national bank of the united states thru executive order. If you were a contractor that would employ Americans to build infrastructure on the NEW DEAL infrastructure projects you were encouraged to come to the nation bank and get a 3% loan amortized over 30 years. That was how FDR used article 1– section 8 of the US constitution to finance the projects thru federal letters of credit. This time federal letters of credit were used to bail out speculative derivative gambling debts on wall street. This action did not help the real economy.

          • Allen hill

FDR was a Christian, Episcopalin denomination. I suspect FDR got the idea from the Bible.

Matthew 21:12 (New International Version) “Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.”

Unfortunately the Episcoplians are now ordaining homosexuals and many drink like fish even at Bible study classes and Sunday school parties–and, of course, at home. I was an Episcopalian in 1973. My brother still is one. He taught Sunday school and doesn’t understand the Bible or read it often. I am a non denominational Christian and have read and studied the Bible diligently for 4 years.

Proverbs 15:18 ESV “Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools.”

Ecclesiastes 7:9 ESV “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,”

Ephesians 4:26 ESV “Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.”

James 1:20 ESV “But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.”

Colossians 3:8 ESV “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”

        so, wrongs make right?

President Obama should veto the tax cut legislation for the wealthy and use an executive order to extend unemployment benefits. THis is getting absolutely ridiculous and I cry every time I open the unemployment website and see money sitting there that I could be using for my mortgage payments right now.

  • Fina Beninato

    Mr.Perez:
Lets give Boehner & Obama the boot & vote you in as the US President right now. I will work for your campaign to get you elected. Obama is busy worrying about other countries instead of us. Boehner & Obama left millions in the lurch by ceasing unemployment benefits. If this is not bad enough employers are playing games with job applicants. I have over 20 years of mortgage & consumer lending experience. Guess what Robert Half did? They referred me to another employment agency. I believe they don’t get job orders & are a total fraud!!! I am ashamed of the people we have at the White House who are quick to help other countries but clueless to assist us in their own backyard. Perez, I applaud you!!

  • LORI

While the government sits on its elected A** again, children, women and men are going hungry and losing their homes. Thanks again to the Democrats for being “true” American’s. I hope one day YOU all get to feel true hunger pangs and the cold true of joblessness. Oh wait, we can get you joblessness, VOTE OUT THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION, AMERICA!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? DO YOU NEED TO LOSE YOUR HOUSE OR JOB BEFORE YOU WILL ACT???? TIME TO GET REAL AND FACE THE FUTURE AND CHANGE ITS FACE. THE DEMOCRATS SUCK AT GOVERNMENT.

  • J Gravel

I am not a mean spirited person, but somehow, some way, I truly hope that John Boehner gets to experience job loss, home and car loss, health insurance loss, and the pain and struggle that many unemployed American citizens have been experiencing just trying to “make a living and survive.” I though we Americans were entitled to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. So many of us are barely surviving.

  • dianemou604

DO YOUR PART….. Don’t wait a minute longer….. Sign the White House petition to extend Unemployment Benefits…. http://wh.gov/l74cn

  • Bob Barbieri

Sorry for mispelled words i cant think straight without a CAR!

  • Bob Barbieri

where did my first go? guess they didnt like it

  • Bob Barbieri

To make a long story short i lost my car today thanks to Boehner. And cell phone next week…..makes it a little hard to find work now. Thanks !

  • Mark

reid’s very own private and PERSONAL “koch” addiction just cost you all your EUC…..no biggie..no one qualifies for it…

  • Andrew King

An Executive Order has to be in play if President Obama is really serious about this.

    • BillyBob

oBozo can order what he wants but congress has to authorize any money spent, in fact, any bill regarding finances has to originate in the House of Reps. Try again, idiot.

  • zeke

surfer…be nice? how bout you telling people to f@#% off? You
“conservative” dirt bags are such hypocrites, Obama spending? He just continues all the war spending the Bush kid started. Here is a basic math lesson for your limited republican pea brain…collect enough taxes to pay for your war spending.
I haven’t worked full time in years and did get unemployment until your boys took care of it. I used to eat and drive my old pickup truck to interviews and be told no you cant have a job. Now I survive off food banks food. I’d love to see you out of cyberspace Surfer and take care of you free market style. No money for extended unemployment but plenty of billions for corrupt Ukraine government to get a war started with Russia.

    • BillyBob

Get off you lazy *ss and get a job and stop blaming your betters for the fact that you’re a loser and an idiot infesting the democRAT trailer park.

  • Christopher Huber

I am still trying to put my head around how extending benefits to people sitting on their butts at home is actually “creating” jobs. Had they been at least working some activity, their benefit would last longer. Yet too many times, they continue living as they did & are shocked they can’t find a job.
The job market changed, the President told you it would, & you still voted for him.
Learn to live with less. That’s what you voted for & that’s what I have to do since you voted for the nimrod. Do your part & stop belly aching.

    • BillyBob

You would have to be one of the useful idiots infesting the democRAT trailer park or else have a lobotomy to get your head around the bit of logic.

  • A.Paul

How is it possible for one person have more power than our commander and chief?
This has gone on far too long my husband has been out of work since 12-26-13 due to a work related injury he like 4.6 million other that has exhausted their benefits and need the Emergency Extension to make ends meet. Boehner is sabotaging his own republicans majority rule in the house. How many of the 70,000 unemployed in his home state of Ohio are republican voters? Speaker Boehner Americans are not going to take your blind no caring attitude much longer. How would you like it if it were you having to struggle to feed your family?

    • BillyBob

Don’t you parasites and beggars who infest the democRAT trailer park ever get tired of begging?

  • Kellel

Does anyone know when there was not any unemployment extensions since they were implemented? Bout to finish school in a few months and my unemployment is getting cut, damn.

  • Linnie

Bohner and the entire GOP, esp the Tea Party, should lose their jobs.

    • BillyBob

actually it’s gonna be the treasonous idiots from the democRAT trailer park who will be sent home in November.

  • BigEd

Boehner disgusts me. How can this guy sleep at night? All this BS cuz he hates the prez and wants to see him fail. DESPICABLE !!!

    • BillyBob

No sense being stupid if you can’t show it, right stupid.

  • sam dogger

The american voters better wise up these idiots have played around for 5 years in congress hurting the country and beyond while average people doing the right thing suffer. They are buying elections and we still vote for these people. WAKE UP VOTERS and watch congress! If were stupid and dont hold them accountable its OUR faught! There getting rich off us and palying mind games because your not watching! End it NOW! PERIOD!

  • barrnone

John Boehner is not a king. He does not have a right to practice economic genocide. The media is not reporting this atrocity blogs are the only forum for it. Boehner is feeling the pressure even if he acts above it. CNN, MSNBC, ABC and CBS should also be held accountable for not speaking for the public. Find time to write them and let them know we will not tolerate this any longer. Just letters from the people on this blog is enough to get their attention and this story is trending across the web.

  • g2gretire

Folks for the 10th time…..listen, stop fighting one another with words. Let’s go to the main stream media people. “pass the word, we must be heard”…..Pass the darn bill.

    • Bob Barbieri

I agree with you g2gretire on the media idea. I have been writing them myself for two weeks. I feel they let us down! T bad we cant all get together and each donate ONE dollar and buy media time.

  • Kevin Young

How many extensions are they supposed to pass? 10? 20? What is a “compassionate” number? Someone answer me

    • barrnone

      5% unemployment.

      • JCJ Bike

So, anyone who doesn’t have a job can stay on unemployment under the national unemployment rate is 5%? On one level, I applaud you for putting an actual line in the sand on when you say “no more,” but doesn’t that motivate many to not look?

The stat I saw was that over 20% of unemployment recipients “found work” within two weeks after going off unemployment. Coincidence?? No…

I agree there are people who need help but can’t we all agree that 99 weeks of unemployment (that’s almost 2 years) is enough? When does someone say to the guy out of work 2 years that that job you are hoping to land isn’t happening right now and you need to look at other options? That you have a responsibility to yourself and your country to get back in the game doing something vs. asking your fellow citizens to pay (or more accurately borrow) money for you to hold out.

      • Kevin Young

I think 5 is too low but thanks for an answer and not a personal attack!

  • Rick

Boehner is literally a no brainer, ( pun most definitely intended ), when it comes to obtaining new and side splitting material for all of the comedians out there. And, He is a great role model for all Republicans to emulate. You go, John. Far, far, away.!!!!!!

  • lee gary

How about we just put everyone in the country on indefinite welfare and unemployment and get it over with,

    • dianemou604

You really have no idea how UI works do you? Welfare and UI are completely two different things. UI is an insurance that we pay into (whether we like it or not) all of our working lives. It is not indefinite and never was. The UI Extension was only for 6 months for those who exhausted their state insurance after 26 weeks.

  • bdpcdds

How the h*ll does handing out retroactive unemployment benefits create jobs? It certainly won’t create manufacturing jobs or highly skilled jobs that are needed to get the economy going. Let’s see…with the ACA now encouraging people to work less there should be a least some part time positions open. Also extended unemployment benefits, paid in one lump sum, will only soothe for so long and certainly will not be a stimulus for people receiving that lump sum to look for work immediately. This is as bogus as the $10.10 minimum wage and tax breaks for the wealthy creating jobs. Both positions get gored with these. CBO says the increase in minimum wage will cost 500,000jobs just after we got the best job creation figures in years. This also doesn’t cover the jobs that won’t be created. Tax breaks for the wealthy only leads to more investment by the rich and doesn’t create many jobs either. If the tax breaks guaranteed that those receiving them created jobs, it might be a good investment. The thing that tax breaks for the truly wealthy does is to help them find another shelter to make that income non-taxable. Outside of investment in start up companies, the major job creators are the upper middle class who risk life and limb to start a business. Those are the people who need the tax breaks and the regulatory relief!

    • Ready to Retire

pssst. I’ve got a secret you idiot. jobs are created for one reason only. people buy the stuff (or services) these jobs produce. If less people can afford to buy it, and do so, less jobs. If more people can afford to buy it, and do so, more jobs. Do you think someone not working, and not receiving UI benefits buys more or less stuff/services? Simple enough for you? Yes, I know. Some of that tax money comes from me, but I’m fortunate and paying an extra $10, or $100 doesn’t impact my spending behavior. That’s how it works. It’s called an economy.

    • EKF

Your statement is hypocritical to say the least. The very people you say that create jobs (middle class) are the very ones that are out of work the longest and need the EUC the most. As “Ready to Retire” states they need the EUC so that they can continue to make ends meet! Without the EUC and the discrimination they face due to paying bills late now or not being able to pay them at all, their chances of becoming gainfully employed again sink further and further each day that passes. EUC is their lifeline to having a future. Its not a government handout and was paid for they the very companies they worked for. Not everyone received 99 weeks of UI, some received only 26? The only interest the rich have is becoming billionaires and they can do that by trickling money down to the middle class. They put their money in shelters and pay lawyer/CPA’s to hide their money so they can watch it grow why they laugh at the middle class and poor who are powerless to do anything about it because money buys corruption and there is a lot of money in politics.

    • Wayne Heddinger

      idiot !

  • 1-877-929-7168

    Super,

  • F_This

You f**king liberals made your bed, now die in it.

    • EKF

I for one am not a liberal. I am a Independent. I stand for what is right and what’s best for the American people. That being said I feel that “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few”. That applies to both parties. The EUC issue is a stand alone issue not something that is tied to a pipe line or some filthy rich politicians that want to become millionaires on the backs of most Americans. Anyone you doesn’t put the American people interest before their own don’t belong in office….period!

  • F_This

Just listening to all of you liberals responses on this site makes me sad to be an American. You all are insane. Most, if not all of you, have done no research on any of the lies that you spew. Granted, most Republicans are worthless to me at this point, but to say that this is all the Koch bros fault is so absurd, I think you may need a straight jacket. Notice non of you mention What George Soros has done, nor Warren Buffet. Obama and Reid will not pass the pipeline because Warren Buffet owns the Canadian railroad system. Every train that travels on his railroad pays him a very hefty usage fee. So all that oil that Canada is producing is run to the border for China by train. If congress passed the pipeline, Warren Buffet, a huge liberal donor, would lose billions of dollars, but Americans would have jobs, be more energy independent, and gas would and should go way down. But you liberals would rather keep supporting Warren Buffet, and keep paying the Saudi’s for oil in the billions, even though they hate us. And for those of you that are harping on the dangers of the pipeline, you haven’t a clue that a huge gasoline pipeline runs from the South all the way to New York. How do you think you get most of your gasoline. That pipeline full of that toxic gasoline that you use, has been pushing gas all the way up North for decades, without any word of a spill mind you. And as for climate change. You idiots are so drunk on lies that you believe that we are destroying our planet. There is no hard proof on that what so ever. The climate is changing, as it has since the beginning of the earth you morons. And for those of you that think it’s okay to ignore the Constitution of the United States by executive order by any president, then you don’t deserve to live in this country. I can’t wait to see another president start using executive (illegal) order to reverse all of Obama’s illegal executive orders. You all would be up in arms if a non liberal did what Obama is doing. There are three branches of government for a reason, and it is up to the people to decide if what they are doing is right, by voting them into, or out of, office. Not by disregarding the law of the land.

    • EKF

Blah..blah…blah..blah. Sounds like you need a shoulder to cry on? Still in denial from the results of the last two presidential elections. Just one questions for you? This article is about EUC right? What the hell does any of what you have said have to do with extending the EUC? That’s the problem with republicans they can see you with a bullet hole in your forehead and say “Oh its not that bad, just put a Band-Aid on it and hyou will be fine”. Sounds like you wake up every morning and drink a huge class of Boehner Kool-Aid!

  • Allan Murphy

    thank you mr perez :)

In 2012, the Federal deficit was three times higher than any deficit incurred during George W. Bush’s two Presidential terms.

    • BillyBob

Not only that, President Bush had our economy roaring until democRATs took over congress in 2006.

    • Wayne Heddinger

Benedict Boehner! (NEED i SAY MORE?)

    • BillyBob

judas obama or hanoi fat*ss clinton! Say that!

  • Jim Ruff

why has our President not just signed an Executive Order and force the issue??? I have long been an Obama supporter. Yet here we are broke and almost homeless, collecting food stamps while the “do nothing” Congress continues to use the long term unemployed as hostages. Mr. President, sign the order and shove it down their throats. We cannot wait any longer. Take care of Americans in need and lets let the world police itself

    • BillyBob

Get off your lazy *ss and get a job.

    • Bunny

Well, I can see why you are an Obama supporter…you obviously think that he has way more authority than he really does. Just like sooooo many others who thought he was going to get in there and save y’all. I am totally in support of the UI extension…I believe that there are soooooo many people out there who can not find work because of age discrimination, lower credit scores DUE to their unemployment and other reasons beyond their control. I believe that Boehner is a self-important p***k and that there should be a way that this bill gets to the floor for a vote with or without his approval; however, congress voted in another rule that they didn’t read, and gave him this authority…And there isn’t a damn thing Obama and his pen and phone can do about it…

It is sad that the people who really need the extensions cant receive them or lost them. I lost mine and my wife couldn’t file hers so we lost our home and went back to work which is ok. I only worked a little while then the company shut down so now we cant draw unemployment we also have two kids. Sometimes things happen that are out of your control. How would you like it Mr. Boehner if we stopped your pay and you had to wait on us to vote it back in? I know you think you can force people to work but its not that easy. Now the news is saying unemployment is at its lowest ? Lol that’s because the claims went down after the cut offs.

  • Oscar Francis Diaz

“Its every man and women for themselves”. Agree, but don’t tell me you didn’t know that’s the way your party has always been. Hope you know now what to do next time you vote.

    • JJ

So who said that life was fair? Why should people stay on the government dole for years? Really? There are jobs, people just don’t want them because they get paid more from you and I, aka the government. What stupidity

      • Gerry Kessler

jobs? what jobs? 30 months of lookinhg and i can’t even get an interview…

        • JJ

Well, what kind of job are you looking for? Sometimes we need to look in another field of interest. Or…. go to one of those temp agencies. That’s how I found my last job… Sometimes we need to be flexible and try something new. Or maybe start your own business. Lots of opportunities. Just some ideas….

          • Gerry Kessler

I was a English teacher working at the college level. Now i’m living in my car, which isn’t driveable. Can’t start a business without capital. Getting cash assistance in NYC, they exempted me from the job program because i’m 61 years old.

          • JJ

Okay, so how are you online living in your car? Anyway, I work cleaning houses on the side, besides my entry level insurance job, but I live in the plains states which is much different than NYC. So McDonalds or any of those employers aren’t hiring out there? I’m just saying there are opportunities everywhere. We just need to fight hard and search harder. I’m 53 and starting all over, but that was MY fault nobody else’s. Anyway, there are always options, friends, family….. Hang in there you will find something.

          • Gerry Kessler

i’m at the library using their computer.
And no, when i’ve looked the fast food places haven’t had openings. The supermarkets don’t need people, the car services aren’t hiring.
As to options . . . friends and family are all struggling themselves–they feel bad, but. Food stamps and cash assistance add up to $360 a month and i could get $215 a month towards rent, but rooms here go for $500 and up…
It sucks, JJ, and it ain’t getting better.

          • JJ

Well Gerry, if there was a way to come to Omaha, there are places hiring here… If there is anyway to make a move, that is another option… You should have enough money for a bus ticket. Get on and head west…. ? I’m just full of ideas, huh? You can’t give up !

          • Gerry Kessler

How much is the bus? Because i can give up; i think about it frequently.

          • JJ

I don’t know. Check with someone in the library there or check online. Someone around there should know. Lord knows there are a ton of people out there….

          • JJ

Also since you’re online, check out careerbuilder.com for your area…..

  • Ernie Schaal

Unless you were a business owner, you never paid UI. UI benefits from both the federal and state level are paid by companies. None of it comes from employees. none

    • hsing

Next time you write something, make sure your research properly. In this case you just have to look at your pay stub and will find that every employee pay a part of his/her pay in unemployment Insurance

      • Ernie Schaal

        Federal withholding
        Social Security Employee
        Medicare Employee
        Illinois withholding.
Nope, no UI withholding. My boss just wrote an 8,000 dollar check for 5 employees to UI.

        • hsing

It is not true in every state. I owned my businesses in two different states for 15 years and in both of those state employees do have to contribute into UI fund along with employer.

  • David

    No EXTENSION or TAX BREAKS.

  • JCJ Bike

Shouldn’t the labor secretary WANT to implement job creation ideas WITHOUT having to negotiate?? If a person hasn’t found work after 99 weeks (that’s almost 2 years) then they aren’t looking for work in the right place, or their expectations for what they are going to get are not based in reality.

    • BillyBob

That blivet perez is a freeloading parasite who truly believes that he and his ilk are entitled to a share of the fruits of another American’s labor.

      • erick

Those drug money laundering pimps on wall street are the true parasites, as are the welfare addicted corporations.

        • BillyBob

Then tell oBozo to stop giving them corporate welfare.

  • BillyBob

Unemployment is insurance for 6 months. An extension is one thing but we’re talking about people spending a couple of years drawing UI and that’s welfare. Just more of oBozo and the useful idiots who infest the democRAT trailer park buying votes with taxpayer dollars.

    • dianemou604

What are you talking about. The basic UI is for 6 month however, in times when unemployment is high it was traditionally extended for an additional 6 months. Where are you getting this “People spending a couple of years drawing UI” from?

      • BillyBob

I personally know several people who have drawn UI for over 2 years and are sitting their waiting for another extension.

        • dianemou604

Well, I don’t know what state you’re from and how they finagled that. However, for most of the country…. the extension was only for 6 months and you were cut off after that. And, in times of high unemployment that 6 months served as a little cushion for those who couldn’t find employment within 26 weeks; which is a very high probability when unemployment is already high and the hiring pace is extremely slow.

        • Wayne Heddinger

          LIE !

    • erick

The wall street banks received 7.7 trillion dollars of the taxpayers money in the toxic asset relief program. This is corporate welfare. Now the republicans want to give tax breaks to corporations that outsource American jobs overseas. The republican drug lords will watch in glee from their guarded, gated communities as you are forced to live on the streets and the police Rodney king you and beat your pregnant wife.

      • BillyBob

They got that money from the *ssClown in the White House, take it up with him.

  • BillyBob

How’s that hopey, changey thing working out for you useful idiot who elected oBozo. It’s not our fault that you stupid ****** ******* elected and reelected that silly blivet.

    • Bob Barbieri

i hope you loose your job at 54 years old with a state full of illegals cant find work to feed your family

      • BillyBob

Did you vote for that *ssClown who currently infests the White House.

        • Bob Barbieri

NO absolutely not. Did you? And i payed my taxes for 34 years and never collected UI. Sorry about being pissed off but im tired of being called lazy. I didnt ask to be laid off and i payed my dues!

  • dianemou604

DO YOUR PART….. Don’t wait a minute longer….. Sign the White House petition to extend Unemployment Benefits…. http://wh.gov/l74cn

  • Keith Bummed

When you have no budget, no money, you give away more of it, typical BS. When will our government learn you cannot spend what you do not have. Extending unemployment? Really, how many extensions do we need to get back on our feet, how many will it take to reverse the recession into a depression again. You cannot generate taxes from handouts, you cannot make a budget out of nothing. And yes, the comments from earlier about paying criminal Generals retirement. Just like major companies firing someone and giving them multimillion dollar compensation packages to go away. This is the problem with our society.
Give, give, give. Rewards for failure, rewards for doing nothing. Our country needs to redo our government and the way they think they need to do business.
Disband the parties, put people in office with common sense and keep the lawyers out of office. Corruption is mostly all the way through our entire governing body.
America, stand up, unite and be Americans again.

    • erick

Pass HR 1579 the “Inclusive Prosperity Act of 2013 to gain any off-set funding that is needed for programs. This bill will generate tax revenues from imposing a financial transaction tax (FTT) on wall street speculation so small business and employees can enjoy tax cuts.

    • EKF

Unlike welfare recipients the EUC benefits were paid for while the employees were actually working for their respective companies by their companies. That being said it not a hand out, it was money actually paid. How many times should it be extended? More than 26 weeks for someone that has worked 30/40+ years and this is their first time drawing it? Part of the problem with why so many long term unemployed are being turned away by employers is that when they were let go unexpectedly they had to struggle, shuffle bills, sometimes missing some and as a result their good credit score became a bad credit score. Then when they submitted a resume their credit score prevented them from getting a job or even getting a response in some cases. People do what they have to do to feed their families. As far as dissolving the government, how exactly do you think we should do that. You sound like a republican, saying we need more jobs but don’t have a plan. The very people that you say we need to get rid of are the ones that create the policies that hurt us, give themselves raises every year regardless the sate of the economy. The members of the GOP bring of issues and policies for their own personal gains as in the pipeline project with Boehner? If you want to knock someone then attack those on welfare with 6 kids, not job history, not people that have worked hard and played by the rules. Again we would all appreciate your telling us exactly how to accomplish what you are stating. Without a plan your comments are simply just comments. Talk is cheap!

  • Keith Bummed

What is stopping you from getting a different job?

JOHN BEOHNER NEEDS TO BE ARESTED FOR SMOKING IN A FEDERAL BUILDING…. IS HE ABOVE THE LAW?????….

  • Charles Tery

Once the benefits are cut the unemployed will seek work. This will put pressure on the imported labor force. There is a race to get immigration done. After the law is passed and sign there will be no more unemployment extensions. You will then start hearing how lazy they are being on 99 weeks. They will then be compared to the hard working new legal labor force.

  • Yonatan YONATAN

There are more than 2.6 million unemployed workers without benefits since late last December. While the Republican Senate has made delay after delay, and have taken senate break, after senate break, these poor families have been left hung out to dry, without any means to live, and support their families. There is really a TRUE CRISIS here, which needs our attention and action. The Republicans must STOP holding the Extension Bill “Hostage” in the senate, and PASS the much needed bill to help these poor families in need. Many of these families have faced eviction, home foreclosures, bankruptcy, and homelessness. Lives are being ruined, along with these people’s credit rating. The Republicans should not use these families for “political Leverage”, and bargaining chips. They are using the XL Pipeline Bill in exchange for passing the extension bill. Where are their party’s so called” family values”?

  • StefsterNYC

I am an attorney working closely with several key figures on this bill to get it pushed through. we’re working hard into the weekend for your cause. Please don’t ask me to verify or confirm any of this.

  • Bob Barbieri

Boehner must be the most hated man in the country but is too stuck on himself to feel a thing. he prob. drinks himself to sleep every night!

  • Foxy

This is to much power for one man! How in the world can one man say”NO” final answer. I agree with FedUpln “Executive order” No matter how many times someone comes up with a solution to job creation Boehner say” Not Enough”
I can’t wrap my mind around Boehner decision not to restore benefits to millions of people. I always thought “United we stand…Divided we fall” meaning our congress will stand for/with the people. Boehner speaks of “The people priorities are our priorities.” What a pile of crap. or maybe he’s speaking of people who are millionaires.

  • Foxy

First off, plenty could get done if they really worked. Their on recess more than working. look at their schedules unbelievable! even their work days has many breaks example: Wednesday May 7, 2014 started working at 10:am, 10:30 Boehner called for a 2 hour break.

    • Bob Barbieri

Very true Foxy but the man probably need a drink and a smoke! Makes sick that he can do this to so many people including our VETS

  • James Heitkemper

I really wasn’t aware of the Republican agenda until I became long term unemployed. Their only agenda and purpose seems to be to serve big business whenever needed. They were hand selected and could not be where they are at without the approval and money from big business. In the middle of a financial crisis the House can give away 156 billion in tax breaks without blinking. You can’t use a fiat monetary system permanently. It is fake and backed by nothing. They roll it off the presses to stimulate the economy. It creates inflation and loses value so there is no point to save it. Good for short term. Lincoln used fiat to finance the Civil war and then we went back to the gold standard. Roosevelt took us to fiat during the depression and World War 2 but we never went back to the gold standard. The reprecussions of our financial collapse is world financial collapse because the whole world is now fiat. It can’t be avoided, only delayed. This is why what Boehnor is doing now is evil and inexcusable. There is no hope for the monetary system. No one will ever repay 17 trillion dollars. It is hopeless. We just have to go back to honest money and he knows it. Kick the pheasants a few bucks you elitest, evil, corrupt S.O.B. The man should be hung for treason for failing to inform the people he actually works for huge corporations and he just steals a salary from us. This is why paying any tax now is completely stupid.

  • James Heitkemper

Any taxes you pay now to the federal government is a complete waste. The monetary system is doomed to failure. No one will ever repay 17 trillion dollars. We can’t pay the interest on that. It isn’t manageable. They led us down a road of greed and corruption with fake money that was backed by nothing. It cost about a nickel to print the 100 dollar bill you work your ass off for. For the govt. that is 99.95 profit. My point is if you stop paying federal taxes it will take them about 5 years to come after you. The monetary system will have collapsed and the world will be very different. What is evil is they know it makes no difference to fund E.U.C. now because of the pending federal bankruptcy. None of the bills are going to get paid anyway so what is one more? I think they don’t do it because they simply don’t see value in feeding poor people. They may in fact secretly resent your existance. These folks are elitist on the highest level. Everyone in congress is worth millions. They couldn’t represent the average American if they wanted to. They think the money is better spent supporting the industrial military complex because it creates jobs. To justifye the jobs we need war, perpetual war so folks don’t lose their jobs and quit buying Starbucks. If you are brown and not down America will find you and drop a million dollar bomb on your head. We only bomb brown people, neer white.

  • YONATAN C

THE REPUBLICANS IN THE SENATE, HAVE DONE THEMSELVES A HUGE DISSERVICE , BY THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO PASS THE UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSION BILL, FOR THE MORE THAN 2.6 MILLION UNEMPLOYED FAMILIES, WITHOUT BENEFITS SINCE LATE LAST DECEMBER. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE HELD THE BILL HOSTAGE, IN THE HOPES OF HAVING THE XL OIL PIPELINE BILL PASSED, ON BEHALF OF THEIR “CONSTITUENTS” THE KOCH BROTHERS. SINCE LAST DECEMBER, THEY HAVE USED THE PLIGHT OF THE UNEMPLOYED FOR POLITICAL LEVERAGE. THEY HAVE USED THESE UNFORTUNATE FAMILIES AS BARGAINING CHIPS. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN FIVE MONTHS THAT THESE FAMILIES HAVE BEEN WITHOUT ANY MEANS TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. MANY OF THESE FAMILIES HAVE FACED EVICTIONS, HOME FORECLOSURES, PERSONAL BANKRUPTCY, AND HOMELESSNESS, WHILE THE POLITICIANS CONTINUE PLAYING PARTY POLITICS. THESE LIVES HAVE BEEN RUINED ECONOMICALLY SINCE THE CUT OFF FROM BENEFITS. MANY HAVE WATCHED THEIR CREDIT RATING GET DESTROYED IN THE PROCESS. THE REPUBLICANS HAVE PROVEN THEIR DISTAIN FOR THE POOR OF OUR COUNTRY, THEY HAVE BECOME A LAW UNTO THEMSELVES NOW.

  • Yonatan YONATAN

OUR GOVERNEMENT HAS FAILED US, AND WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IN THE COMING ELECTIONS. The Republican Party has continued their war on the poor of our country. There are more than 2.6 Million Unemployed Workers, with families, who have been denied an extension of their unemployment benefits since last December. This has been the first time that an extension of benefits were not passed since it’s inception. The Republican Senate has been holding the Bill “Hostage”, in order to have the Koch Brother’s XL Oil Pipeline Bill passed in return for their vote. They have been using these unfortunate families as bargaining chips, and for political leverage, not caring about the damage and suffering caused to these families. Since late last December, many families have faced eviction, home foreclosures, personal bankruptcy, and homelessness. It’s been reported that many of these families have had to live out of their vehicles, and in shelters, and have to rely on food banks to eat. In a country where just recently a foreign aid bill for the Ukraine worth Billions of tax payer’s dollars had been passed., these families are left hung out to dry. It’s sad that people who have worked all their lives, and paying into the system, would find the system not there for them, when they so desperately need it. More than 2.6 million unemployed families are losing their homes and everything, while the politicians continue to play party politics. The politicians are the only winners in this situation, because they have jobs and healthcare, and retirement plans. The coming elections will be the opportunity for all Americans who have suffered because of these political party’s, to make big changes. We will not forget how we were left without unemployment benefits and left in financial ruin.

Legal Defense Fund for Brandon James Thompson, Arrested Unemployment Extension Activist?

Should a Legal Defense Fund be established for Brandon James Thompson after his arrest in News Castle, Indana? He was taken into federal custody after allegedly threatening to kill U.S. House Speaker John Boehner. The 32 year old unemployment extension activist, has no doubt been driven crazy by John Boehner callous taunts, says Country Carl artist of the New Depression Blues. John Boehner has been toying with the unemployed in the media. His statements, the Senate plan is too late and is to difficult to implement “highlights a coxcomb bully”.

Whatever happened in Boehner childhood has embeded a deep bitterness as he is frequently crying on camera. He has an obsession to ridicule anyone he can get the upper hand on. The fact that Boehner won’t even allow a vote on the unemployment extension bill shows his contemp for displaced and the democratic process.

Secretary of Labor Perez said in his letter “Since the December 2013 deadline came and went, almost 2.6 million people, including more than 70,000 in Ohio, have been stripped of unemployment benefits that helped them keep the lights on, rent paid, and family fed,”.

When Boehner demands how is it paid for Country Carl says “look at our old pay check stubs under Federal Withholding Tax, it is not a gift it is called insurance”. In 2014 only the states have paid unemployment insurance, the Federal Government’s contribution because of the GOP House obstruction, is so far nothing, zero, nil.
